New iPad (3) overheat after fully charge

My New iPad (iPad3) has been very hot especially along the left edge and so hot that the iPad cannot be hold on hand.  It has happened twice, both incidents after a fulls cycle charge by Kingsoft Battery Doctor.  Put the iPad into sleep mode did not help.  I ran the System Activity Minitor and the CPU was using only 4% and I was doing simple tasks like reading eBooks without using Cellular data or WiFi.  Power off was the only way to stop it getting hotter.  The New iPad didn't get so hot if it didn't start from full cycle charge.

You are using third-party software to control the battery charging.  I'm not sure why you think that's a good idea.  It reads as though the software is damaging the battery by attempting to overcharge it.  If you take your device to Apple for inspection, I'd bet that you'd be told that using the software violates your warranty.  Regardless, try removing the software, and see if your device works properly.

How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

clintonfrombirmingham is right, there is no way to exactly tell. But from personal experience, a new battery on a 2008 will last for about 2 1/2 hours with a higher screen brightness and doing something taxing to the battery (like gaming or running lots of 3D programs). But if you're just listening to music with the brightness all the way down, and no programs running, you could get up to 12 hours. So for average use, it should last you a whole business day (assuming you don't use it more than 30% 0f the time). Hope this kind of gives you more of an idea of what to expect:)

  • Is it safe to use the new ipad (3rd gen) while on charge

I have the New Ipad (3rd Gen) 32gb wifi onlymodel,, and I use it while on charge i notice that it took way longer to charge while i use... will in not damage the devoce nor the batter if i use it while on charge?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPad shows it's fully charged at 90%

When I charge my iPad, once it hits about 90%, the battery icon changes to plug, means "Fully Charged". After leaving the iPad plugged in for about one hour it eventually reaches 100% charge.
My question is, why does the iPad show it is fully charged when only at 90%?
    Thanks!

    Michael,
If I'm not mistaken, charge cycle on an iPad is the same as on a Mac portable computer. 1 charge cycle = 100% discharge. So, 92-100 would only be 8% of a charge cycle. If you charge your iPad from 50% to 100% on 2 separate days, that is only 1 charge cycle, not 2.
You're correct, and I'm remiss in using the same term as Apple does in their literature (which, btw, is pretty good on this topic) without it meaning the same thing to me. I should instead be saying something like charging actions, I.e., the simple matter of plugging in and charging up.
Nominal battery life for the iPad is set at 1000 cycles, as you correctly defined it. Conditions and patterns of use, however, will have an effect on that number. All else being equal, battery life will be reduced when operating at higher temperatures. Batteries which are not stored for long lengths of time before entering into use will have longer lives than those which are.
Another characteristic of these batts are the deposits which build up inside each time a charging current is applied. You can't avoid this happening, it's the main driver of battery life, and .... most significant of all, to me at least .. the fact that the heaviest or quickest buildup of these deposits takes place right at the start of each charging action.
The question then, is whether there is any downside to having multiple charging actions every day, as in perhaps plugging it into a charger whenever it's not in use. My own answer to that is yes, it will have one. How significant? Don't know, and no way to tell without running some long, boring trials. All I can say is that, for me, the advantages in avoiding that pattern of use are obvious enough, even while admitting we are still years away of being able to know if battery life is going to bs the main driver in EOL decisions on our happy little machines.
I agree, though, on the exact battery readout. I was just trying to explain the behavior. And the indicators are notoriously inaccurate.
And will become more so, per Apple and other guidance, if you omit the "monthly run it to empty".

  • Brand new iPad Mini Retina won't charge when its connected to my PC

I just opened up my brand new iPad Mini Retina and attempted to plug it into my PC and set it up. The iPad quickly recognizes my PC, briefly displays the charge symbol then immediately displays "not charging." I have attempted to plug the iPad into the wall, and it charges just fine. All the cables I'm using are straight out of the box which I bought right from the Apple Store so I know its not any of those. My laptop is fully charged and also plugged into the wall, so I know its not my computer. I also double checked everything by plugging my iPhone 5 into my computer (with the new iPad lightening cable) and it charges/syncs just fine. Im stumped, please help me fix my brand new iPad Mini Retina.

I know you said PC, for for others that have an iMac with USB 3 ports, they can put out extra power to charge an iPad.  (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049?viewlocale=en_US)

I phone 6 getting switch off after fully charge at night and one more problem in my home wifi is working good but in office wifi connection is keeping disconnect any body please help this is hardware problem or ios problem

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work correctly, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:
