New iPad Air 2 stuck in recovery mode, won't restore

My mother recently bought a new iPad Air 2 and found that the Touch I.D wasn't working, so she called support and they told her to restore the iPad, which she tried. When she tried to restore the iPad it says an unknown error has occurred and the iPad can't be restored. Now the iPad is stuck in recovery mode and only showing the connect to iTunes screen. I've tried restoring from different computers and restoring from a downloaded IPSW. At the moment the iPad is a very shiny paperweight that can't even turn on
Please help!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

Ipad3 stuck in recovery mode. 5.1.1 OS. No backup. Data AT RISK. Tried Tinyumbrella 5.11/recboot/ redsn0w unsuccessfully.
This happened while browsing yesterday and safari stopped working. I upgraded to 5.1.1 the day it was released about 10 days ago, but under backups I CANT find that backup either.
    Tried DFU + redsn0w also.
In sum, i am in a mess. Please help.

I once again request the gurus in the community to help me. I need to extract my Phd work from Notability and Goodnotes. I would lose two months of work, if i cant. Request you all to please help or suggest any third party software to try the data recovery with.

  • IPad Air stuck in recovery mode!

Tried to update my iPad Air to iOS 8 this afternoon. Plugged into my brand new Macbook Air (about one month old), backed up to iTunes. Clicked to begin the update and install, left the room.
Came back to find the iPad Air in recovery mode (iTunes logo and lightning cable on the screen). iTunes reporting that it has detected an iPad in recovery mode and needs to restore. Since I have a backup already, I go ahead and click on Restore iPad, and then Restore and Update (my only option besides Cancel).
The progress window gets all the way to "Restoring iPad Software" and the progress bar starts to climb, but then I get the error message:
"The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)."
I've repeated this process many times, usually the error occurs right at the beginning of the progress bar, but one time it almost got to the end before giving me the error message.
I read up on Error 9 and it says it may be something amiss with my security software. I have not installed any antivirus or firewall software. My firewall is off and always has been. Like I said, this is a pretty new Macbook Air, I've installed very few programs on it (Crashplan, Dropbox, Google Drive, Lightroom).
Any thoughts on what to do? It's completely frustrating. My iPad's been bricked. ;(

  • IPhone 6, Unknown Error 56, RED iTunes logo, stuck in recovery mode, won't restore, ios 8 - 8.0.2 update fail!

    Hi
I just got my new iphone 6 and it was on ios 8 and everything was working fine i guess, i decided to download ios 8.0.2 as it was a brand new phone and i wanted the newest software on it to fix all the bugs just incase i had them.
i started the update process from the phone, and before the update was complete, i'd say 80% or so along the way, the phone goes into recovery mode displaying a red itunes logo and the cable on the screen.i tried all the suggestions out there and even googled and youtubed to try and find a solution with no luck. even did a few searches on this forum as this is the place i usually come to get most of my answers.
here is what i did in attempts to fix this.
tryed restoring through itunes on both recovery mode and DFU mode, with both ios 8.0 and ios 8.0.2 files.
let itunes re-download the update file just incase i had gotten a bad copy the first time around, tried with that
used 3 different computers, 2 macs and 1 pc
    switched usb ports
    unplugged all other usb devices
    updated itunes and OS
always kept getting the mysterious "unknown error 56" msg searched all over for what that could mean with no luck. the process always seems to stop at the same place, and the second i unplug the phone, it jumps right back into recovery mode with the red itunes logo. if i were in a place that had a genious bar i would've gone there.
i need help fixing this problem please also i'd like to report this error to apple, really wanna do my part to help by reporting at the very least, so also if someone could tell me how to go about doing that, this is just sooo frustrating
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    MM.

  • IPod stuck in recovery mode, won't restore, "Unknown Error 1430"

Hi, I have a 160gb iPod classic, and I've had minimal problems with it in the past. I can safely say that it's my favorite MP3 player out there. I did have one before that overheated or something like that, and I was given a replacement one. But, within a day of having this brand new iPod, I was listening to it at work and the music stopped all of the sudden. I pulled it out of my pocket and the screen had the Apple logo that you see when you restart it, only the background had blue, white, and gray on it, instead of the typical gray background. I restarted it and it told me to restore it with iTunes. After I connected it to my Mac, it told me it detected an iPod in recovery mode and that it needed to be restored. Anytime I click restore though, shortly after it extracts the software, it says it's restoring and then gives me an error message telling me it can't be restored. I got several numbers at first, and one error message telling me that it couldn't be unmounted, but now it's consistently giving me the Unknown Error 1430. I tried restoring on a PC, and formatting it as well, but neither worked. iTunes is up to date on both of them, and I've reinstalled it several times on each. I would rather not take it to the store to get it replaced again. Any help?

  • IPhone 4S stuck in recovery mode won't restore

I have an iPhone 4S that something happened to when we had a power surge (even thought it was on a power strip).
It is stuck in the loop where the apple is on the screen and then off - repeat.
    Fully charged.
I have plugged it into iTunes and attempted to restore. It does it's thing for 50 minutes or so and then I get an error.
I have tried this on two different computers.  The latest error is 2001.  It gets to the "waiting for iphone" and then the phone shuts off and looses connection to itunes.
I have even switched USB ports and wires.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks.

I think DFU mode should fix your iPhone... I dont think this is a port issue though... I would recommend you read this [Fixed]iPhone stuck at Apple Logo maybe one of the steps there can help you along.
    Method 1# Jump Start
Connect your iPhone to your switched of computer and start your computer, your phone should start along and if everything goes as well the phone should boot up properly.
Its from the same link... try this, if it works

  • IPad 1, stuck in recovery mode, error 1601, wont turn on or restore/update

    Its a brand new iPad,
its stuck in recovery mode, it says restore and update but it wont restore/ update because i get error 1601, How do i fix this problem ??? it wont even turn on please help?

If it were in recovery mode, you would see this
If its just a blank black screen, follow these steps
Will not turn on, or will not turn on unless connected to power
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions.   If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage.   If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check    if the Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) in the headset jack or dock connector is activated or there are signs of corrosion or debris. Learn more about LCIs.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See   "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
If something other than the Home screen or Low Battery screen appears on the display, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, try resetting it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter. To reset, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or the battery symbol appears.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Restore the iPhone. Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My iPad is stuck in recovery mode, and wont stay turned off in order to use redsnow.

Alright so my iPad is stuck in recovery mode. I did some research and arrived at redsnow to fix the problem. In order to use redsnow's recovery fix option I have to power down my iPad. When I hold the sleep button though, no "slide to power off" appears, the screen just goes black then reboots into recovery mode 3 or 4 seconds later. Restarting it via holding the sleep and home buttons doesn't do anything. How do I get it to stay powered down? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I believe I may have used the wrong terminology. My iPad screen looks identical to the picture shown in the link, which is what I reffered to as Recovery Mode. I was looking for a way to return to normal functionality, without having to restore my iPad. I have never backed up this iPad and would prefer not to lose any information on it. If this is impossible then I will just restore it and carry on.
My main issue with restoring it is that I don't want to lose the pictures on it. If the restore doesn't erase the pictures, then I apologize for wasting your time and will be restoring it immediatly. However if I will lose the pictures than I'd prefer any other method of exiting this screen.
