New iPad Auto-Lock not functioing

For some reason my New iPad Auto-Lock feature has stopped functioning. Auto-Lock, under general settings, is set at 2 minutes, yet it never engages.
What could be causing this problem?

Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps and see if that fixes it.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I have an iPad 1st generation that no longer has working volume buttons but every once in a while the sound turns on.  So I know the speakers still work.  I have tried resetting all settings and made sure that my side switch was auto lock not auto mute. I have tried the mystical swiping upward on the screen with 4 fingers to get some special sound menu (which I never succeeded in getting).  My headphone jack doesn't work all the time either so some times my kids can hear their games and sometimes they can't.  I am super frustrated at this point.  So any suggestions would be great.  Am I missing something basic or do we just have a soundless iPad now?

I have bought a new iPad mini. its not showing me Facetime Installed. How should I start a Facetime ?

Where did you buy it? facetime is barred from devices sold in some countries, due to the countries insisting upon it. UAE and other middle eastern countries are examples.
If you bought your iPad in a country that banns its use then you'll never have facetime on that device. It's locked out at the most basic level.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • New ipad 3 locked when switching from kindle app to safari

I was very disapointed today when my brand new ipad 3 locked up today.  I had just finised downloading a kindle book from amazon and then went to the kindle app to read the book.  After a few minutes of reading I decided to look around on amazon.com again. So I pressed the home button and the safari web browser came up, and the ipad was locked up at that point.  It would not respond to the home button or the power switch. (until I pressed and held the power switch down for several seconds).
What is the best way for me to report this to Apple ?
Any one else have this sort of thing happen?

Then it seems to me as if this is a problem in the ios, or the kindle app, or both.
I find it hard to belive that it would be due to a 'memory leak' as I did not have the ipad running for long when this happened.  It's not like I was constantly switching back and forth from app to app.

  • My new IPad Air will not rotate screen

My new ipad air will not rotate screens.  I am trying the lock or unlock but it makes no difference.

Check out this link for operation of the side switch:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
Also, pull up Control Center (swipe up from just above the Home button) and check the screen lock there (it should be at the top-left of the Control Center and looks like a padlock with a circular arrow).

  • Ipad auto lock

Why doesn't my ipad auto lock when using some apps?

Some apps work in both landscape and portrait mode, so requires using the iPad side switch to lock to that orientation. If this is what you mean, as you have given little info to what you ate experiencing.
If you are using the iPad side switch to lock to the page orientation and this does not work, you need to go into settings tap general and then tap Lock rotation. When you cihoose Lock Rotation, toggle the screen-rotation switch on the side of the iPad to expose the orange dot, and your iPad will stay in either landscape or portrait.

    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

Does the Officejet Pro 8500 A909g seriea with DLM1FN1006BR firmware accommodate airprint on the new IPad?  If not, is there some fix?

No, your printer is not AirPrint capable and cannot be.  You can try other printing apps, like HP's ePrint Home & Biz.

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • New iPad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help on that

my new ipad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help why if any one knows? thk

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • HT1414 My new ipad mini does not allow me to switch between modes in the built-camera app. It is stuck on video mode. Can anyone advise?

My new ipad mini will not let me switch between modes when using the built in camera app. It is stuck on Video mode. I am unable to take photos, although I could when I first used it. Could this be a fault with the pad or with the new 7.0.4 update? Can anyone help please?

Have you tried to force quit the app? Double tap the home button. Scroll sideways if needed to see the icon and preview for the camera app. Flip that app up and off the screen to close it then single tap on the home screen preview or single tap the home button to exit the mode.
Try your camera app again and see if you can switch modes.
When you switch modes, you do have to drag the words, not just tap on the video word, if that makes any sense. When you try to go from video to photo, do you try to drag the photo word to the front?

  • My new ipad got locked automatically

my new ipad got locked automatically

New iPads don't come with a password. If yours is asking for one, it's been set up already. If this is unexpected (you bought as new), you should check with the place you bought it. It's possible that it's a floor/demo model or returned unit.
You can always, of course, just restore the iPad by connecting it to iTunes, waiting for it to appear under Devices, then clicking Restore under the Summary tab. This will wipe out any existing settings and information.

  • New IPad mini does not share photos using Photo stream

New IPad mini does not share photos using Photo stream. Turned on sharing on both devices and also setup bluetooth both devices and they are connected. have photos on my mini put does not send to my Mac using photo stream
    Gary

Photo stream doesn't use bluetooth; only wifi.  Photos added to the camera roll on your device are automatically added to photo stream when the camera app is closed, your device is connected to wifi, and it has at least 20 % battery life remaining.  Also, only photos added to the camera roll after enabling photo stream are uploaded, not photos prior to enabling photo stream.  If the photos appear in your my photo stream album on your iPad Mini, then they were successfully added to your photo stream.
To share them with your Mac, your Mac must be running OS X Lion (10.7.4) or higher, and you must have either iPhoto 9.2 or higher or Aperture 9.2 or higher.  If you do, you must sign into your iCloud account in System Preferences>iCloud and check Photo Stream in order for the photos to automatically be added to iPhoto (or Aperture).  This is explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html.
