I live in australia and I want to buy the new ipad cellular. I am going on holidays to the US and to New Zealand. will the cellular work in other countries or do i have to buy a different chip. oh and does the internet/cellular thing work on the plane?

You would need to check with your local Aussie cellular service provider for information regarding using their roaming partners in the US. That can be a very expensive proposition for data.
I think that your best bet in the US is to stick to wi-fi. The official iPad GSM provider in the US is AT&T and getting a SIM card from AT&T and activating an account for a short vacation time use is more trouble than it would be worth to you! At the moment there are no real prepaid options in the US, however that will be changing soon. But there isn't much information available at the moment as to whether you could just buy a SIM for an iPad that you already own.
A Kiwi will need to chime in on the situation in NZ.
As far as airline use, it differs by airline. Few, I believe, are offering cellular service at this time. Most all require that you disable any radio usage (cellular, wi-fi and Bluetooth) during flight, and especially during take offs and landings.

I'm struggling with iOS6 and iTunes [new iPad Cellular]

Last night I connect my new-ipad cellular and was informed to update iOS6. And yes, I did agree to update. After iTunes downloaded and it started updating software + firmware as usual. I think there should be no problem. After finishing updating firmware, I received a notification from iTunes: your ipad is restarting... But in the end, nothing happened. My iPad stayed silent. Power button and Home button have no effect now. I tried to plug ipad to my mac again and restart iTunes. The same notification, saying that my iPad is in recovery mode and I need to restore. If the SIM is out of your phone, find my phone needs a data connection, so could use wifi - IF in range of a wifi and one that it can join (ie. a known network or one that is wholly open so no login required). Your phone could also simple be turned off, so not findable, or it may have been restored (plugged into iTunes and restored as new) again, making it permanently unfindable. Honestly, for someone stealing an iPhone, this is likely the first thing they do - restore as new and it is theirs forever.
Find my iPhone is tied to the users iCloud account - the find function is part of the iCloud account's services and it communicates with the iCloud servers over a data connection - either wifi or 3G.
Have you set up your iCloud account on your replacement phone, and is it working properly on that phone?

I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

How do I set up cellular account for the New iPad?

I have an ipad2 and have an existing 3G account with AT&T. I want to keep this account as I plan to keep the iPad2. When I received my New iPad today I set it up from a backup of th iPad2 on the iCloud. Therefore it now has the cellular account data for the 3G associated with the iPad 2. How do I set up a separate 4G LTE which will only be used by the New iPad (iPad3). Thanks for any help.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Do you clean your iPad screen? Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended. There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

IIRC, you can only download a maximum file size of 100MB with cellular.

I have a 64GB iPad Air WiFi+Cellular (Verizon), and I don't see the issues you are describing. First I would suggest that you update your iPad to the newest iOS update. If that doesn't help, then you may want to schedule an appointment at an Apple Genius Bar. If you go this route, I suggest that you let the iPad sleep for long enough for the problem to arise before you go to your appointment.

They may be purchased unlocked at full price. But whether you can use them in Brazil depends on whether you have GSM service there.
Note that if you buy in the US then any warranty work will require you to bring the device to the US for service. The US warranty is only good in the US, not in Brazil. You would be better off buying it in Brazil which will also save you duty and import taxes plus US sales tax.

Like I said, I only have WiFi iPads, and don't know much at all about the data plans, but I don't think that you have to commit to a long term contract and I believe that there are plans that you can cancel at any time. My point is that if you sign up for a plan, and you use it say 4 months out of the year, you could be spending that money that you saved on the original cost of the iPad and even more in the future.
