New ipad doesn't recongize email password

just bought my long wished for ipad mini today.  Everything has worked fine so far, but I can't get it to accept the gmail password for email and calendar...

Are you talking about the auto brightness feature? Sometimes the change in screen brightness is not very dramatic and it can be hard to notice. Unless you go from one extreme to the other - a totally dark room into a very well lit room - it might not be that noticeable. But if you tried this and it doesn't  - the device is under warranty, so contact Apple. Make a genius bar appointment and let them look at it.

  • HT1349 why when i start the new ipad, it shows  " Enter the password for the CalDAV account "Yahoo!"?

    when I start my new ipad, it shows  " Enter the password for the CalDAV account "Yahoo!"? so, i need to tap the cancel button 2 times. after that, i can use my new ipad. I just bought the new ipad 21.05.2012. yesterday, worst to worst, i cannot used my new ipad because after i tap the button cancel 2 times, the new i pad just hanging there with the box Enter the password for the CalDAV account "Yahoo!". It doesn't moved and I hate it so much.

    Most likely your yahoo password setup in your mail account is wrong. When you wake your ipad it checks for mail right away(even though it has when it sleeps). Your password or something with your Yahoo mail is wrong.
    Assuming caldav is your yahoo name. If its not a yahoo email, you have email setup wrong. Its your email.

  • My ipad doesn't send emails because it says the server does not allow relaying. What is relaying?

    My ipad doesn't send emails. Message says the server does not allow relaying. What does that mean and how do I fix it?

    Copied from here.
    http://appletoolbox.com/2012/01/server-does-not-allow-relaying-email-error-fix/
    How to fix
    If this is an AOL issue, try these: go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select your AOL.com account > SMTP from the Account Info Page > SMTP from the SMPT Page > make sure that the Server is ON, make sure that the Host Name is smtp.aol.com. Further make sure your username and password are correct and added in the Outgoing Mail server; make sure that Authentication is set to Password and make sure that Server Port is 587
    If this is not an AOL email: go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts >Account Info > SMPT> turn off primary server, turn on other (e.g. AT&T) SMTP server.
    Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Account > Outgoing mail Server SMTP > Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name and Password under Outgoing Mail Server.

  • TS1398 My new iPad keeps forgetting my Internet password every time it is switched off or goes on flight mode

    My new iPad keeps forgetting my Internet password every time it is switched off or goes on flight mode. Have tried resetting the network setting as it suggest on the support page. The Internet  works fine with my windows PC and my son's iPad 2. Any advice?

    Have you tried powering off and then back on your router?
    Does it only happen with your router? If so that would tend to indicate a router problem.

  • New iphone 5c doesn't recognize emails passwords, can't set up email accounts

    New iPhone 5c won't let me set up my Gmail accounts, it doesn't recognize my passwords as correct.  Am I missing something?

    Apparently, there is a big delay in syncing to the Comcast mail server.  I just tapped on the email icon and it went directly to the Comcast inbox.  So thanks to anyone who read this and got a chuckle.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • HT1349 My apple ID was keyed incorrectly on start up of new iPad. So the email address is wrong and I cannot verify as I do not get the verification emails? Help anyone?
    Apple Id was set incorrectly, so the verification emails do not come through. Now my new iPad is locked in to an apple id that I cannot verify and so I cannot use download any apps that I need. Does anyone have solutions?
    Apple Id was set incorrectly, ...
    Do you know the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the apps you need? It should be a simple matter of going to Settings > Store, tap the Apple ID that appears then Sign Out.
    Sign in with the correct Apple ID and you should be all set.
  • New iPad won't send emails
    I have a new ipad and it will not send email. I get a message "Cannot Send Mail. A copy has been placed in you Outbox. The recipient ****@*****.com was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying" Is there a way to fix this? We have problems similiar to this with a pc and we changed the port setting. This ipad is set to port 110 and when you change it to something else I get another error message saying that the email account setting are wrong, Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    TCP port 110 is used to receive e-mail using POP.
    The error message you saw was when you tried to send e-mail.
    I assume (because you didn't supply technical details) that you send e-mail using SMTP via TCP port 25.
    If you try to send e-mail via an ISP that doesn't know you, they will in almost all instances reject your request.
  • IPad doesn't mark email as 'read'
    Hi,
    So, I have 3 devices on which I can read my emails: A Macbook Pro, mid-2010 15", an iPhone 5s and a iPad 2.
    When I receive emails on my macbook, there are some rules that filter out the spam emails. The rest I read and save to icloud folders or delete.
    But, when having done this on my macbook and returning to my iPad, the iPad still sees every email as 'new'.
    That and a break from using my ipad has now caused my ipad mail having around 500 emails... But all of those emails have been read and handled on my mac.
    My iphone only has the icloud account configured, but that's working fine. (I have multiple email adresses, from gmail, hotmail and exchange)
    How can I get my iPad to sync properly? Because handling all those emails twice is very annoying and time-consuming...
    - Lisa
    I'm having the same issue, only with my school email powered by Gmail. I had it working fine as a POP account but wanted to switch to IMAP after Gmail was updated. Now, every time a new message comes in, it stays marked as Unread, regardless of what I try to do. I've marked it as read on the server using Webmail, but still no luck. I then deleted the account and created it again. Now the message shows up as read. So, I sent a test email to see if the problem still persists, and it does. Seems any messages that were unread on the server as of creating the mailbox as well as any new messages subsequent are effected. This is becoming very annoying. On top of that, I can't even delete these messages. I get an error stating:
    "The Account path /Users/xxxxxxxx/Library/Mail/[email protected]@imap.gmail.com is not writable. Please chage the Account Directory field in the Account Options tab to a writable directory."
    I cannot find any such Options tab inside Apple Mail. Can anyone think or suggest a remedy for this?
  • New ipad. doesn't say anywhere
    I have a brand new ipad. Really dumb que but How do I load iOS5 without a pc or Mac? doesn't say anywhere (doing it for my dad)
    You can't. You have to download iOS 5 within iTunes using a computer. The computer must be running iTunes 10.5 as well.
  • I want to switch my new iPad to my account, email etc and put the old iPad under my husbands account, email etc.  How do I do that?
    i just bought the new iPad and want to change the older iPad to my husband and have it use his email account, name and other apps and put the new iPad under my email, accounts etc.
    Sync and backup your old iPad one last time and then connect the new iPad to iTunes and you will be given the option to set up as new or restore from the backup of the old iPad. Choose the restore from the backup option. After the iPad restores, follow that with a sync with iTunes.
    You can erase the old iPad by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Then your husband can set it up as a new device and sync with his own iTunes library or content.
