New iPad inconsistent touch screen response?

Hello all:
The touch screen seems to behave differently in some apps: The Paris RATP Metro
for instance has a map you can point to a metro stop and its picked up and
entered into another tab to find a route or schedule.
In this app and a few others, you can touch a stop again and again and nothing
happens. This is despit wetting the finger tip, pressing harder, moving the
fingertip areound, etc.
After many tires it finally works,
In the majority of apps it never does this.
Anyone else seen this behavior? If yes, what apps did it and is there a fix?
I am trying to see if the app, the iPad design or a bad touch screen.
Kind Regards,
Jon

Have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps. Close all of your apps and restart your iPad. Try rebooting the iPad as well. It might just be a memory issue .... Maybe .... But start with the simple steps.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My new iPad 2 touch screen will not swipe right and left

Have tried several web pages. Cannot swipe right or left

At least not with Safari. There are many other browsers in the App Store with more features than Safari has to offer. iCab Mobile is my favorite and my browser of choice. You can swipe from web page to web page with one finger with iCab Mobile. It's the best $1.99 app I ever bought.

I'm trying to use the slide to unlock bar but the iPad 3 touch screen is non responsive. How can I fix this!

I tried that step but it would not work. I think I may have changed a setting.
I was able to highlight a function but had to tap 3 times to get it to respond
to the command. I think it's some type of Restriction or Accessibility settings.
    Any suggestions?

    Hey Apple bottom 17,

  • IPad mini touch screen borders not responding

My ipad mini touch screen borders aren't responding and I tried rebooting by holding the sleep and wake button, please help me.

    Hey there EMB08,
It sounds like you have noticed that the edges of your screen aren't responding to touch. You should use these steps to help troubleshoot the issue or seek service if needed:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see theService FAQ for your product.
    Additional Information
Tip: To isolate an issue related to a portion of the Multi-Touch display, follow these steps:
Open the Maps application and double-tap each corner, then the center, to verify that it zooms in to each section.
If a specific area is affected in another application, note the location and try to verify touch functionality for that location in the Maps application.
On iPhone and iPod touch, you can also use Calculator:
Open the calculator app to test all but the top row of the screen. Press each button on the calculator and verify activity.
To test the area at the top of the screen, rotate the device to change to the scientific calculator and press the buttons in the left or right two rows.
When speaking with a Mac Genius or Service Provider, you can use this information to assist with evaluation of your issue.

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and then see if your touch screen is back.

  • Hello My iPad mini touch screen alone is activated and if I can do crazy

Hello My iPad mini touch screen alone is activated and if I can do crazy
    please help

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • HT1430 My  IPAD Mini touch screen is not responding, it is showing a message icloudBackup but the back up is not happening and the system seems to be hanged

My  IPAD Mini touch screen is not responding, it is showing a message icloudBackup but the back up is not happening and the system seems to be hanged?

Perform a "hard reset" on the device by pressing down and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button for up to 30secs. until you see a black screen with the Apple logo, then release.
Then test to see if it solved the problem.

  • IPod touch 3rd generation has dim screen and no touch screen response. I've replaced the digitizer and the screen. I've also reset it and did a complete restore still nothing. Is there any way to fix this myself? Does it just need a new memory board?

My 3rd gen iPod touch has a very dim/dark screen and no screen response. I've restored it, still nothing, put a new screen and digitizer and still nothing. I've reset it a 1000 times and nothing works. Is there a way to fix this? It previously had "activation required" on the screen but now it just says "ipod" what do I do now?

Could be due to many things. You could have damaged something during the screen replacement. I would take it to someone with more experience.

  • IPad 1: touch screen or motherboard?

My son saved his money for a year to buy an iPad and found one with a broken LCD. To make a long story short, the LCD replacement works flawlessly, but the touch screen is not responsive. Everything else works -- it can sync and restore, play from my car (Ford Sync via USB) and everything else. The only thing is the touch screen does not respond. I've tried every suggested recovery technique -- reset, restore, update, but no joy. Given that we got it so cheap, I don't mind shelling out a few bucks to help repair it, but I need to know what to repair. The original owner said he dropped it and stepped on it, which broke the LCD and bent the body a bit but didn't break the glass on the touch screen. So is there any way to know if it's the screen itself or the motherboard that was damaged? Or should I just not worry about it, buy a new MB and be done with it?

So, that was the fastest reply I've ever seen! Thanks.
I can only go by what I was told. The original owner said he dropped it and stepped on it. As for the repair, I did it myself, so it falls on me to "warranty" the repair .
So the question stands: is there any way to know if the screen is dead or if it's a MB problem? Can a touch screen become unresponsive without any apparent physical damage? Is there an additional IC board in the frame of the screen that could be cracked?
It's probably impossible to tell without opening it up.  You should know that the LCD screen is a special "capacitive" touch-senstive component.  There are other posts here where the screen has not responded or gone crazy without other signs of apparent damage.
I'd take it to an Apple store and ask them what they can do about it.  My bet is that the DIY fix you did won't help matters, but you never know.  They've been known to replace iPads on the spot before.
