New iPad is slower

new ipad is so slow Puzzlemaniac is unplayable

Hi ...
Try resetting ...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
It may be the app not your iPad. If the app continues to run slow, tap and hold the app icon until it jiggles then tap the x then tap Delete.
Then re download the app >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Why is my new ipad so slow

I just bought the new iPad. It is running on 3G (they dont have 4G ipad in Japan). I have an old iPhone 3Gs. Both are running same version of IOS.
my ipad it taking forever to load anything, apps, webpages, even the app store when using 3gs. my phone is isntant. I have read it is becuase of the size of the screen and amount of info. That is fine... but explain this to me. I download a the SAME 9.4mb speetest.net app at the SAME time on my ipad and my iphone. The iphone finished in under 1 minute and the ipad takes nearly 15!!!!!!!
when and iff I can get the app working. the ping on the phone is 4 times higher than the ipad, showming me the ipad is getting better speeds. so why it is so slow. just to bring up ANY page on the app store takes over 5 minutes.
when I run DSLR.net speed tests for mobile devices. I get the same thing for the ping. The ipad has much lower ping.
I cant belive the results for the DL speed
    ipad - t1. 112kbps t2. 93kbps t3. 114kbps
    iphone- t1. 249kbps t2. 290kbpsm  t3. 308kbps
    What is up with that?

I went home and hooked up with wi-fi and was pulling speeds of 10mbs. lighting fast just like I thought. I didnt reboot or reset. So its not the ipad software. or overloaded cache (which i cleared yesterday before I tested 3G speeds)
    now....
It is a new day, and I have tested both my phone and my ipad agian.
my ipad is still only pulling speed of .1Mbs that is POINT ONE.
and my phone is still pulling .3Mbs
so now I am have two problems. why is my BRAND new ipad recieinvg a 3 times slower signal than the phone.
and what options do I have with my cell company? they have a 10Mbs system and I am pulling 1% of their offered speed. Problem is I live in Japan, and things dont work the same here. no FCC-esq rules requiring minum devliery of service, etc. that I can find.
I am 99% sure that have something simalar to the BBB, but have even less power than the BBB in the USA. companies can basicly just ignore them. the legal system is nothing like the USA. (if you sue somebody/buisness in small/"medium"claims court,  the court will order them to pay, but no law is required to actully get the cash from them).
I am wondering since this ipad is made with a 4G LTE radio it is not optimizzed for a 3G signal. What does anyone think about that?  In the USA 4G coverage is not universal, so surley plenty of new ipads are running on 3G at least some of the time. Are they exepierincging slower than normal 3G speeds on the new ipad?

  • New iPad - EXTREMELY slow wi-fi???

We just purchased a new iPad retina display 64G wifi/cellular. We have a wireless network at home. We also have 2 iPhones and 2 macbooks that work just fine on our home wireless network. The new iPad is unbelievably slow on our home wireless network. It unable to bring up ANY webpage that I try. It took over 3 hours to download a solitaire app.
I have reset the network on the iPad. I have tried using the iPad right next to the wireless router. Nothing helps. What am I doing wrong? Every other Apple product in our home works fine with our wi-fi. We also tried turning off the wi-fi and using the cellular...still no better. HELP!!!
    Jennifer

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • My brand new ipad mini is slow (retina edition)

My new ipad mini that I just got today from the apple store is slow it has 64-bit A7 processor but it's no faster than an old ipad 2 that I have in my house. What can I do to maybe speed it up or maybe it just hasn't warmed up enough after my 3 hours of being on it.

Have you tried just restarting the iPad mini? My coworker brought his iPad mini in today and it was slow as well. We did a hard reset and it fixed the issue.

  • Slow Backup.  Brand New iPad... 8+ hours already!

I got a brand new iPad the other day, and when I first turned it on and activated it I downloaded a few apps. The main app I've been using is MangaDL to read manga on the go (comics). Last night, before sleeping I tried my first sync/backup and now when I wakeup it's still not done!!! This is absolutely not right. I barely even have 2GB worth of things inside the iPad!
Now I've read other forum posts about slow backup speeds... but as soon as it gets technical it seems everyone is talking about Windows. Just as a note, I'm using Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I just upgraded from Tiger 2 days ago.

    HI,
No way it should take that long.
Since you just upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard, check the startup disk for errors that may need repairing. You need your Mac install disc for this. Your profile indicates you have two Macs. Make sure and use the machine specific disc that came with the Mac you tried the backup with.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space

  • Why is my new iPad mini with retina very, very jerky and slow?

    Hi,
Does anyone know what I can do about my new iPad being very, very jerky and slow?
FACT - The multitouch screen is unresponsive and I have to press and press and press to select what I want before it reacts.
It's an iPad mini with retina, so it's got the new chipset which runs really, really fast.
    FACT - What happens is:
I start up pages and it freezes completely for quite a while before allowing me access to my documents.
I go to settings and it freezes up totally for quite a while before allowing me access to my settings.
Is there a cure? I get similar problems on my acompanying really, really fast iPhone 5s.
    PS
Plenty of memory left so no problems there - only about half used and they're both 32gb.
...and my beloved iPad2 never used to do this either.

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Anyone else having the same problems? All the apps are the latest versions...

  • Why is my iPad (3rd gen) so slow on wifi? My other 2 iPads are blazing fast but the new one is slow on the same network, Why.

I have all three ipads. My home wifi gets 30 mbps speed. Every device in the house is really fast. However, the Newest iPad (4G, 64G) is very slow on any wifi. 4G works acceptably fast, but the wifi is very slow. I've restarted, resynced, reset, restored, and this dosn't help.  Any ideas?

  • The new iPad: Does your SmartCover wake up the new iPad a little slower than iPad 2?

Hey guys! I got my new iPad (32GB with iOS 5.1.1) one month ago. Now I found it takes longer to wake it up than my old iPad 2 with SmartCover. I have to wait for 1-2 seconds before the screen lit up. However, iPad 2 only take half seconds or less, seems instantly...
I wonder if anyone has the same problem like me? Is it something related to the iOS or can I change for a faster one (if the problem is hardware-related)? Thanks for your contribution.
    Darling kim

    Hi Simon,
Thanks for your detailed reply. I can't see any slow response on iPad 2 even with lots of app running background I think may be this issue is by design for iPad 3, or may be caused by the iOS 5.1.1 as my iPad 2 still running its original iOS 5.0.1...
This issue is rarely reported, so may be it's an exception for both of us.
I was concerned about this, but not that much now. The stunning Retina makes me forgot it! I bet you feel the same
Another thing, does your new iPad is a little darker than iPad2 when setting to maximum brightness?
    Kim,

  • Does the iPad mini have the same slow charging issues as my "New IPad"?

I'm considering returning my New IPad and purchasing the iPad mini due to the slow charging issues with my New IPad. Does anyone know if the mini has the same issue?  Does anyone know if Apple is planning on offering a different charger for the New IPad?  I love everything about the New IPad except the charging system. I can't use it as much as I would like to.  It's so disappointing!!!!

I also have issues when charging my brand new iPad mini. I got astonished when I tried to charge it yersterday and realized it took more more time to charge than my iPod Touch 4th generation, which really charges very fast! It even did'nt charge completely so when I got home I put mi iPad mini to charge overnight, at about 12.30 AM, when it had about 13% charge left.
This morning I got shocked when I saw at 6 Am that it hadn't charged completely. Just 96%, which means the iPad mini can't be totally charged during a 6 hours charging session. So after reading all these posts I get disappointed with this huge issue for iPad users. How can we endure such a long charging sessions for a device that you normally use all the time. For instance, when you're traveling you always need to charge the iPad very quickly. Just a few travelers would allow their ipads to rule their schedules on such a bizarre way!
I was also worried because I don't live in the States. It was my brother who bought it for me, so taking my device to the Apple Glass Cube in New York or any other retailer or just to have this issue technically solved is a big problem for me! So international customers who think to buy this wonderful mini tablet should consider that such a marvelous device is dealing with an absurd and disappointing big problem related to an aspect customers would hardly imagine.

  • Slow wifi on new iPad

The Wifi on my new iPad seems to be really slow - both at home and at work.
I've done speed tests for the connection via my desktop and everything is checking out ok - but, it seems like the conneciton on my iPad takes forever to download.
Is anyone else having this issue?  Any solutions?

There are several free speed test apps - Speed Test and Net Speed Test. In stall them and check your speed.
