New iPad, new MacBook; how to move everything?

Old MacBook (mid-2007) is running Leopard, and all OS and iTunes updates done through end of support.
Also have an old iPad2, which is on iOS 5.1
Brand new iPad mini and MacBook Air.
I need to move all the material from the old iPad to the new one, and have the new one synch properly with the new Air and back up to it.
I've found some detailed instructions here and elsewhere about how to do certain parts of this, but am concerned about the following items, can anyone provide advice?
1) Can I synch the new iPad with the old computer's iTunes?
2) If not, can I move the iTunes library from the old Mac to the new one?
I don't want to use iCloud routinely for synching in the future. Wouldn't mind using it temporarily for specific items as long as I can undo that eventually.
If someone can give me list of the best approach with general steps in the right order, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the article did point out the fact that you had to be running Snow Leopard or newer in order to use Migration Assistant and that moving the files manually was the alternative.

1. Yes. Do the restore after getting the backup onto the new Mac. You can't use the new iPad with the old Mac so you have to move the files over first.
2. If the apps are in the iTunes library on the new Mac, syncing will bring them over. Any apps that don't end up on the new Mac can always be downloaded again if necessary.
3. Yes. I would also wait before updating any apps.

Connect to iTunes and backup your 3GS. Connect your 4S and and go through the initialization process. When it asks you to setup your phone as new or restore from a backup, select "restore from backup". Select the most current backup you just made of your 3GS. You should be good to go after that.

You can't save a PDF directly to the photos app, but if you can open the PDF in the mail app and get the entire PDF to appear on the screen, take a screenshot of it and that will be saved to the photos app camera roll.
Hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time briefly until you see the white flash on the screen and hear the shutter sound. That's how to take a screenshot.
You should probably tap and hold down on the PDF in the mail app and select it to open in iBooks or another PDF app that you might have on the iPad.

Sorry, I can't tell what it is you're trying to ask. What does the warranty have to do with your intention to return the iPad (to whomever) and get another one?
There's no way to deactivate a warranty.
The warranty transfers with the machine, has nothing to do with the owner.
Look around in the Support pages, you can figure out a way to type in your serial number and see what your current warranty status is.

Sync the old one, and get a full back up stored. Make sure you transfer your purchases to I tunes, and make sure you upload any photos taken on the pad, or imported thru the cck.
Then plug the new pad in, and set it up from the backup of the old one. In theory, all the stuff that was in the back up will migrate to the new pad. If apps, music or books get lost, you can redownload them for free, using the same appLe id.
If you are selling or gifting the old one, When you are done and happy with the new set up, go to setting, general, reset, reset all content and data. This will place the pad in factory new condition. Lastly, if it is a 3 g pad, especially if it a Verizon pad, make sure to cancel the plan

I have a Macbook Pro MID 2010. When I connect my new ipad using MAC OS X Lion it charges normally, but when I connect it on my Windows 7, it doesn’t.

Newer mac books have USB ports that provide sufficient wattage to charge an iPad. Very few windows laptops have high powered USB ports so they can only trickle charge an iPad when they can easily charge an iPhone.
It is because the iPad, as has been mentioned, needs to pull 10 watts through the charging system to do a normal charge. This is why the iPad comes with a dedicated 10 wall charger and not the standard 2.5 watt wall charger that comes with the iPhone and iPod.
If you need to buy an extra wall charger for your iPad for when you are on the road or to keep at work make sure it is truly iPad compatible. I found a really nice two port charger that provides high (10 watts) capacity on one port and low (2.5 watts) on the other. So I can charge both my iPhone and iPad at the same time without damaging my devices or the charger.

I used my new IPad to film some videos for about three months. Today, I connected my IPad to my Macbook in an attempt to upload the IPad videos to my Macbook ITunes. Try this first.... Quit iTunes, restart the Mac, restart the iPad and then try again.

New ipad, existing customer - how much to add to plan?

Hi, I'm really interested in purchasing a new ipad with Verizon service - does anyone know how much this will cost per month? Also can you go month to month? I would prefer an annual contract but researching all prices. It's most likely the "user" and not the system ;) but I'm having a hard time navigating without having an ID for the ipad (haven't gotten it yet) - thanks!

I would be curious whether you have other lines with Verizon. If so, do you have a smartphone? Are you on the Share Everything plan? If you have a smartphone, would you be using the iPad when not near the smartphone.
I ask these questions because quite often a wifi only iPad would be sufficient. For the most part, I use my iPad when wifi is available. When wifi is not available, I provide data to my iPad via the included hotspot on my smartphone on my Share Everything plan. There is no monthly fee for my iPad, but if I had a cellular iPad, I would be paying $10/month for access.

You should have 16 GIG on yourr iPad, not 16 meg
When you hook them up to iTunes select to 'manually manage music and videos' and that will allow you to choose what bits and pieces you can put on your device.
