New iPad3 and trying to set upgmail account it keeps telling me my username or password is incorrect. my user name is the same as my email address. how can I fix this?

trying to set up my new ipad 3, my first Apple product. trying to use Gmail account and it insists that user name or password is in correct. It is not my username on Google is the same as my email. Please advise.

1. Sign out of old ID
2. Reboot
3. Sign in with new ID

I figured it out. You have to have location services turned on specifically for the native weather app. My husband already did and that's why his was working. In the previous ios, I chose to disable location services to save battery and had the widget set to show weather for my home city regardless of where I was. Now that doesn't appear to be an option. Hopefully it won't drain my battery too much.

Start by rebooting the computer. If that doesn't work, search for adobefnt*.lst and delete all instances where * becomes a 2-digit number.

Sky email is provided by Google now. Have you tried logging in via webmail on a desktop computer? Occasionally Google asks you to verify your account by entering a CAPTCHA which can't be done in a dedicated email client.
If that doesn't help, try removing and then re-setting up the account, following the directions here:

The answer depends on a number of factors, such as the following:
If you have more than one email account, does this problem affect one, some, or all of your accounts?
Where did you last see this mail -- in your Inbox(es)? in some other folder(s) outside your Inbox(es)? somewhere else?
How old is the missing email -- yesterday? just before you got the new computer? over a week? over a month? over a year?
How are you reading email -- with the builtin Mail application? with some other mail-reading application? with a web browser?
How do you access your email on the server -- IMAP? POP? Exchange? web browser? other?
What version of OS X is on your new computer -- Mavericks (10.9.x)? Mountain Lion (10.8.x)?
Did you migrate your data and applications from your old computer when you set up your new computer?
For example, if the missing mail is the mail that was in your Inbox before you got the new computer, you are reading it with the builtin Mail via POP, and you failed to migrate data, then the mail was left behind on the old computer. The same would be true if the mail was in "On My Mac" mailboxes and you failed to migrate data.

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers. The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies. Then came Lion. The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest. Check the setting in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > mouse options.. button > check scrolling.
If you have an older mouse with the trackball, it might just need cleaning. Turn the mouse over and rub the trackball vigorously on paper or microfiber cloth.

I am also having a similar issue. I used Adobe Lightroom and my whole display goes black. Even my laptop screen and the lights on the keyboard go black. I can still hear the fan running, so I assume it is just the display. This is my first Mac and I have had nothing but issues. I think I am going back to Windows after this.
