New Iphone 16 gig....old email address?

So I jumped on the wagon and bought a brand new iPhone 3G from Best Buy. I absolutely love it, especially with the news that a new OS is coming out in the coming months.
I just had one concern regarding the phone. Before setting up my iTunes account on the phone, a different email address showed up asking for a password? In other words, before setting up the account, I played around with the app store on the phone itself and the phone responded by asking for a password to an email address I had never seen before. What could be the reason for this?
There is no problem with the function of the phone or setting up/using itunes. I just wanted to know if anybody has an idea why my phone did this to begin with?
P.s. I bought this phone in late november of 2008.

It's probably been too long to return it to Best Buy. From iTunes, I'd restore it as new to remove all traces of previous ownership. From you iPhone, under Settings > General > Reset, you could Erase All Content and Settings to clear it. Its very simpul bro, all u have to do is to Go in Settings of iphone, go to store. U will find ur apple id their. Make it forget, re enter ur id and new Password. And u are all done, enjoy using App store

How do I delete an ICloud acct on IPhone when the old email address no longer exists?

I changed my Apple ID password due to a phishing email and it started a downward spiral of issues. My original ICloud email address no longer exists. I have tried to sign out/in in itunes that worked but I cannot delete the ICloud account because the field is not editable for apple ID. I tried setting it back to the old email address to turn off Find my IPhone but it will nopt allow because the email address cannot be verified because it no longer exists.

To Delete an iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. You should then be able to delete the old account. When done, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.

Welcome to the Apple community JB.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

By default, the email address that you last used will be automatically displayed in the Apple ID box, leaving you just the password to enter. Just change the email address and enter your password an you should be fine. Note that you may see that old email address pop up a few times more - here, in the iTunes store, etc. - but if you've changed both all of your purchases, etc., should be linked to your 'new' Apple ID.

Our old G5 has crashed and burned, we just bought a new 27" Imac and are trying to register it but It's been so long that I dont remember the apple id. When I try to start from scratch and create a new id it keeps telling me the email address is already in use.
If I request the lost id sent to me via email, it wont work because the computer where the email resides can't connect to the internet. If I try to answer security questions it tells me the birthdate doesn't match their records ( I don't know how that could be)
I'm at a total standstill

Log into your email using a web browser to read the Apple reset email.

Apple ID prompt on iPhone 4S uses old email address

My Hotmail address became Outlook, so I've changed my Apple ID.
My iPhone 4S doesn't realise this, though - when it prompts for my password, it uses my old ID.
How do I get it to recognise the update?

There are a few places in the settings that you can log out of one Apple ID and sign in with the alternate Apple ID.
If you are trying to sign into the iTunes and App Store with your Apple ID, you can use these steps:
Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.

I also recommend signing out of FaceTime and Messages. Once you are signed out, you can sign in with the Apple ID you would like to use on that device:

Changing devices is no reason to create a new Apple ID.
All content purchased from iTunes is permanently linked to the Apple ID it was purchased with.
To update apps purchased with the old ID, you MUST sign in with that Apple ID.

When I set up the icloud I was using my then email address. My email address has now changed.
I tried to access under the old email address to change it to a new email address but I couldn't remember the security questions and as I can't access the old email address, I can't change it. So to solve the problem I set up a new account under the new email address. The only problem is my iphone is still asking for the old email address password which doesn't work.

Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

Did you change the Apple ID primary email to another email address or did you create a whole new Apple ID?
Go to settings>itunes & app store and if it shows your old apple id at the top then tap on it then sign out and then sign in with your new apple id email.
