New iphone 5 that won't restore as the software is too old on it
Hi guys,
I've just got a new iphone 5 which im trying to restore from my old iphone 4, but when i try to do this it says i cant because the software on my iphone 5 is too old.
Do i start the iphone 5 as a new phone and then restore it (if i can do that). or is there another way?
Can anyone help me please?

Backup from a later IOS version cannot be used to restore on iPhone with a earlier IOS version.
You need to update the iPhone to the latest IOS 7.1 version first before you can restore the backup. -
Hi,
I've just moved on from an iphone 5 to an iphone 6.
I'm now on my second attempt at restoring it through the icloud.
My photos and videos are unavailable and it keeps saying I'm low on storage. At this stage it just keeps saying it's updating but it's been saying that for 8 hours and I still don;t have any photos available....any advice appreciated. It's getting a little frustating

Next time, remember to first turn iMessage & FaceTime off, delete the iCloud account, then restore/reset the phone. To fix, if you setup a support profile with Apple, you can login to your support profile & remove the phone. If not, change your Apple ID password.

I have downloaded a slot machine app that has been "downloading" for days now. The normal delete method doesn't work because it does not have the X in the corner. Also I'm not able to download new apps because it just gives the waiting message. I can't highlight it so I can't double click on the main menu button to troubleshoot it across the bottom of the screen. I'm really having problems, so if you can help please do. I need to figure out how to put this Sony cd picture program onto my Mac for my new camera. Im used to a PC, where it pops up and you download and can just click the icon and open the program. I have no idea where to find it or how to download it to my mac! help!
First, find out if the disc contains software for Mac OS X also, or only for Windows. This should be indicated in the camera user guide, or on the disc label. If it doesn't explicitly say it's for Mac OS X, then you have nothing to install (except possibly the camera's user guide in PDF format). You may try Sony's tech support site to find out if there is any Mac OS X software you can download. The camera's user guide or 'Get Started' doc should have this info also.

I've just plugged in my brand new iPhone 5s into iTunes to restore all the info from my old iPhone 4 onto it but instead of coming up with the homescreen with the icons it just brings me right back to the Hello screen and walks me back through the first few questions for Setting Language, Selecting Country, and Choosing a Wi-Fi network and then finally to Set Up iPhone and I select the Restore from iTunes Backup. At that point iTunes gives me the selection on their screen and I restore from backup. I see the Homescreen for a second and then it goes through the whole thing all over again. What's happening?
Are you sure it isn't just going into standby mode, if you touch the screen when it goes black does anything happen?
Perhaps a recent software update has reset some settings. -
Can't restore replacement iphone software is too old?
I had an iphone 3gs & it was damaged so I replaced it with a refurbished one I purchased on ebay which is actually a 3g. When I tried to restore the phone it said the software was too old that I would have to set it up as a new phone first. I did that & I can't figure out how to restore the phone to my last back up. When I go to restore the phone it sets it back to factory settings which then of course won't take the back up. I tried restoring it and set it up as a new phone on a different computer and then plugged it into my laptop where my backup is saved and I can't get it to restore to that back up. My only option seems to be to restore again to factory settings. Any idea on how to get my data on to the new phone? Thanks!
You cannot. Apple does not allow for restoring a backup from any version to any older version. There is no logical reason why you would want to do this anyways as it could create unresolvable issues or instability in the device.
Simply set up the new device and sync your content. -

I'm setting up my new iPhone and already have an iTunes account. It's asking me if I would like to set up as a new iPhone, or Restore from the backup of my iTouch. If i set up as a new iPhone will that delete all my music from my previous iTunes account?

If I restored my new iPhone from iCloud backup, and I delete the old iPhone backup to make room on iCloud to back up my new phone, will it delete everything on the new phone?
I have this exact same issue. Replaced my iPhone 4s with the new iPhone 5s, setting up my new iPhone 5s to restore from iCloud. This completed and now I am unable to delete my old iPhone 4s iCloud backup (consuming 15.1 GB of my 20GB allocation). How can I delete it, so that I get my 15 GB back? I am not going to invest in additional iCloud storage, because I will be 15 GB down from the off.

I updated my 4s to ios7 and the phone is now completly dead. I tried to restore it with the new itunes but it won't restore. If you can't get the download be glad! Anyone have any ideas other than going out and buying a new Samsung phone? I don't really need a paper weight.
No not jailbroken. After the update which took about 45 minutes. The phone went black. Dead. Wouldn't restart. Using the new itunes I tried to restore it. It went through the motions; the white Apple and progress bar appeared on the iphone screen. Then I got a message "Itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes." Then the phone went completly dead again. I Repeated the process and got the same results. Is there another way to restore the phone if it's dead, besides itunes?
