New Iphone baseband firmware has killed all GPS location software.
Are apple aware that the new iphone modem firmware update has effectively broken the iphone 3gs as far as GPS location goes. I have looked around on various forums and on the tomtom forum there are lots of people in the same situation.

I have not seen evidence of apple acknowledging the issue...so dont know if they are even aware of the problem.
I'm getting very interested in GPS problems across the iPhone range. Ive got a 3GS and the GPS satellite fix stopped working completely recently. A fix identified using jailbreak and an ssh terminal tells me a good proportion of these problems are with locationd, the gps process in the iPhone, or more accurately, I think that it's possible for some of the data this process uses to become corrupted; the "fix" involves stopping the process and deleting the data it uses. On restart, locations is forced to rebuild the data, and everything then works.
I suspect this is true across the iPhone range - and worse, I think that the backup function in iTunes actually backs up the bad data. Thus, when you restore from backup, you actually put the problem back in! Either that, or GPS cache data isnt deleted when the iphone is restored.
What we need is an option in iTunes, or the iPhone settings, to clear GPS ephemeris and related data down and restart locationd: this will save apple a fortune in support at genius bars, as I reckon everyone who is getting a replacement is just getting a reblanked refurbished iPhone with no hardware fixes - they could be turning them around in the back of the stores!
We need to get some group pressure together to get an answer out of apple on this really - they do seem to have an approach which has much in common with the way the UK banks were dealing with overdraft fees - if you complained, they refunded just to keep you quiet and make sure you didn't shout. If this issue is an underlying gps driver or application demon issue, they should give us a way to work around the issue.

Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."

It sounds like your iPhone 6 Plus is taking a long time to restore from an iCloud backup. I can understand why you'd be concerned after several days of waiting.
This might happen if your backup contains a lot of content such as pictures or your Wi-Fi connection isn't consistent.
If the restore still hasn't completed, take a look at the information in the "Restoring my device from an iCloud backup is taking a long time" and "A message says restore incomplete or some items could not be restored" sections of this Support article:

Using Itunes, I copied all my apps from my Ipod touch to a new Iphone 4. Problem is all the apps on the Iphone are starting up like a new install. I would think my "password" app and "lose it" app would have the past data transferred to the Iphone. Is this not possible??

I am a new Iphone user so I am going to sound very dumb. The sound in my phone stopped working for some unknown reason about a month in. Verizon could not fix so a new phone was sent. I sit here with my current soundless Iphone and the new one. The guy at Verizon moved my contacts over but what can I do to get all the apps I downloaded to be on my new Iphone before I send the current one back? He said something about downloading something on the my PC (not a mac) and then restoring from the PC to the new phone. How to transfer address book to new iPhone 4 (which has micro-SIM)?
Since I will be unable to put the SIM card from my Blackberry Pearl 8100 into the micro-SIM slot of the iPhone 4, how can I get my contacts into the new iPhone 4? The B'berry just has accumulated contact info SIM transferred from previous Razor, not address book or calendar or anything from my iMac's now Entourage 2008 program.
My iMac's address book has 350 entries collected over the past 20 years. I sure do not want all that significant amount of old, historical info to be on my phone, so a direct sync would bring a ton of crap to the iPhone (don't want that).
Is there a way to:
1) mark some (read most) contacts NOT to transfer in a sync?
2) or any (relatively) easy way separate current 'phone related data' from the rest of the data which is more related to email and physical addresses info that I (think I) have no use for on the phone. It seems like my iPhone address book would be a confusing mess if all data from my iMac were transferred over.
Any ideas on this are appreciated.
I have been reading of the huge frustration on iPhone pre-order 'trying' today, so I have not attempted yet. I need to decide if my address book transfer would be best done at an Apple Store or if I should have it shipped to my home for me to deal with the data transfer. With that said, my suggestion is to yes create an gMail account (if you don't already have one).
Find a way to export out your current contacts to a .CSV file.
Google's gMail address book has an option to Import from a .CSV file (maybe some other formats too).
Once imported, verify everything looks good and edit as needed.
When you get your iPhone there is an option to have the iPhone get and sync it's address book with Google.
Once setup, it allows you to edit contacts via a computer (browse to gMail, edit contacts) and the iPhone will automatically get the changes. Also any changes you make on the iPhone will automatically show up in Google's gMail contacts. Thus no need to ever plug phone in to sync contacts. You only need to plug in to sync music and other data.
I find this process far better than having to plug in to ensure my contacts get backed up.

I added my husbands new iphone to my itunes acount......all my contacts were on his phone so he delated them and added his own. Now my contacts are on my phone and mine are gone!!! Please tell me I can get them back and how?!?!?!
Unless you have a pre-DH backup of your iphone and/or Contacts to restore to, you can add this to your list of grievances when consulting a divorce attorney.

Randomly, text messages I send with my new iPhone 4S are delivered to the recipients as all squares instead of regular characters. I have heard other people complain about this too. Any idea how to stop it or why it is happening? Hardware issue?
There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.

Is there an airplay enabled device on the same Wi-Fi network that your phone is on? You will only see an airplay icon when an airplay device is detected on the same Wi-Fi network.

Be aware it can take quite a while for it to restore.
If you need help restoring an iCloud backup
The restore process is taking a long time to finish.
The amount of time needed by the restore process depends on your geographical location and the speed of your Internet connection. Even with a fast Internet connection, the restore process might take 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte to complete
So if you have several gigabytes to restore, it may be an overnight process.
You might try backing up and restoring with a computer. See the section "Use iTunes" in this article:

i bought a new iphone and used it . it was working all fine when i travelled and i used it in other country. now i came back to my home and used my local sim it is not working.. it starts searching signals...sim providers says that sim is fine as it is working on other fone...no sim is working in it...i try to hard reset by holding home and top button for some time but it does not...also i cant delete my icloud ..when i try to delete the account it says problem in deregistering icloud from iphone.

The items you are trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you will need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.
