New IPhone - Camera locking up

I'm setting up my new Iphone. Everything was working fine until I tried to add a contact from an POP3 email. After starting to add the contact, I tried to add a photo to the contact and now the camera is frozen.
When I go to camera, the shutter opens fine. Then I go to take a photo, the shutter closes and freezes closed. I can hit the home button and go anywhere I want OK. But, if I go back to camera, it does the same thing.
Any ideas?

Try a reset (hold down the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the Apple logo comes up)

Was it Officially Unlocked by the Carrier it was locked to...?
If so... who is the carrier..?

Contact your carrier and if your phone is locked then you need to use international roaming to be able to use your phone in India.

  • Setup as New iPhone - Camera Roll Pitfalls?

I am expecting my iPhone 6 on Friday and am planning to choose the "Setup as New iPhone" option rather than restoring from an iTunes or iCloud backup.  Historically I have always restored from a backup but when my current iPhone 5 was having signal strength issues the guy I spoke to at the Genius Bar said sometimes it is best to do a clean install so you don't carry forward any corrupt files.
So I am trying to anticipate any potential problems / things to be aware of.  I'm fine re-downloading all of my apps, music files from iTunes Match and re-doing all my settings.  One thing that seems like it could be an issue is getting all my photos and videos from my existing Camera Roll back on the new phone in the new Camera Roll in chronological order.  I've searched around and found a bunch of dated links with various suggestions for how to do this, including emailing all your photos back to yourself.  Seems crazy given I have almost 2,000 photos and videos.
Any simple and foolproof suggestions for how to do this?
Any other things that I won't be able to restore exactly as I had them?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies.  So when I import the photos to iPhoto on my Mac, doesn't it put them in all sorts of various event folders?  I have Photostream turned on so most photos I take on my iPhone are already on my Mac when I plug my iPhone into it - sometimes a handful are not.  So the pics are scattered all over the place in the various photostream folders (August 2014 Photostream, etc) plus any leftovers that are imported manually.  I would need to select all of those folders and sync them back to my iPhone through iTunes and then they end up in Events folders under "Albums" in the photo app on my iPhone?  That's not ideal.  What about videos?

Unfortunately I put a password on the Sim and for some stupid reason couldn't remember the word and now the sim is locked! I can't restore the factory setting or do anything!! Please help this idiot to fix it!

If your phone is disabled, you'll have to force it into recovery mode & restore it:

  • New ipod came locked out of the box

Battery is very low, but charging. Could that be why the device shows locked?
Will resetting / reloading factory setting fix this lock situation so I can use the device?

    Perhaps. Try it.
Try cycling the Hold switch a few times.
    Where is it showing locked?

  • I changed my iphone unlocked and the man in the apple store miami gave another iphone but now my new iphone is locked!

what i have to do now?

Then call the Apple store, ask to talk to the manager. Fact is, only the store can fix this. You can try calling AppleCare in the US: 800-275-2273...ask to talk to "Customer Relations"...tell them your story...they should be able to verify everything and might be able to fix things remotely.

  • Bought a new iPhone 4S which I cannot connect to the internet, mobile data network activation is not possible!

I recently bought a new iPhone 4S in Singapore and found out that I cannot connect the iPhone to the internet over my mobile 3G connection.
The telephone function is working fine as well as wifi; just connecting to the internet through my simcard is not possible.
I hav another existing iPhone 4S, and in this iPhone the mobile internet connection 3G is working perfectly!
I discoverd 1 difference between the two iPhones:
On the new iPhone if I look at
Settings / General / About / Carrier : the text "Orange UK 13.0" is displayed
On my existing it says: "T-Mobile Nl 13.1

Sorry, but I think you were ripped off.  There is no way a "new" iphone came out of the box provisioned for a carrier in a completely foreign network and country.  And Orange phones are sold locked to Orange, so if it is working with your T-Mobile SIM, it has to have been hacked.  That would be like me here buying a new iPhone and discoverying it was showing some carrier in Austrlia - just completely beyond reasonable explanation.
If you try and restore, I'd bet money it relocks to Orange and won't accept your SIM at all.
You can try wiping out all network settings and setting things up fresh (maybe do that with the SIM out, then see if it reads the settings correctly from the SIM).
Settings - . General -> Reset -> Reset network Settings

  • Is it possible for me to trade in my near-new iPhone 5 for a 5C?

I just signed-up for a iPhone 5 with Virgin Mobile Australia , just before the new iphones came out . Is it possible for me to trade it in to apple for a 5C and pay the difference? Many Thanks.

Not with Apple, as Apple does not do trade-ins of any kind. Perhaps your carrier?

  • HT1267 My iphone is locked out.  How do we get it going?

Our new iphone is locked out.  How do we get it going?

By locked out I assume you mean you can't get past the lock screen, probably due to a passcode that you don't remember.

  • HT201401 My new Iphone 4 camera is not functioning.  When I click the phone icon. The photo shutter appears, but nothing else happens.  I've shut the phone off and turned on serveral times.  The same thing occures.,

My new iphone 4S camera is not functioning.  When I click the phone icon, the shutter appears.  Then the screen only shows the shutter.  When I go back to the home screen and click the phone icon again.  The photo screen only shows a black screen.  The button to take photos is locked the entire time.  I've turned the phone on and off several times.

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Have these ALL been tried?

  • Very hazy blurry pictures/camera locking up with iPhone 4s

    Hello,
I am a "newbie" iPhone user. I recently purchased the 4s through Verizon.
a white 32 gb mode. I am using icloudl. I'm having problems with either the camera locking up after taking a few photos and
the photos coming out very hazy/ grainy looking. It worked fine the first few days but the
last 4 days the picture and video quality is getting worse and worse.
disappointing to say the least but I'm wondering is this something I can
    fix or a software update?
Thanks for any advice you can give,
    Saralynne

    Good Afternoon All,
Yesterday I went to the Apple store/genius bar. First of all I had the clear protectant film on the front and back of my phone under a two layer incipio case. The rep that helped me stated there should be no film on the back of the phone as it causes reflection from the flash causing haze with pics ESP at night/darker environments. I admit I was skeptical and he also said that my case while nice did not have a large enough opening for the camera lens/flash even though it was made for iPhone 4 the changes made to the new camera calls for a sizable difference in the opening to allow for the flash to work properly.
I purchased my case at Verizon and they told me no such thing, so I was a bit skeptical but I picked a case with a larger opening approx a 1/2 centimeter larger than my current one and removed the film from the back of my phone then I asked the rep if he would go into the back area of the store, turn the lights off and take a few pics to be sure that was the problem and he did!  Viola! Problem solved. I'm really surprised that was it but last night I took a bunch of pics in low level light and they turned out great, no further issues. The brand of the new case was "uncommon" most of the cases for 4s in the apple store had a much larger opening and the inner part of the opening was also blackened. There were a few other brands too "speck" was one but if you are buying from a website just make sure you get one with an opening of about 1/2" H x 3/4" W to. Accommodate changes made to the camera.
Hope this helps others.  Have a great day :0)

  • I was prompted to download on my iPhone the new iPhone software ap. Upon doing so, my playlists came off my iPhone. They are still listed in my iTunes, but I cannot figure out how to get them from my iTunes to my IPhone. When I switch to synch by playlis.

How do I get my 300 playlists back on my IPhone after installing new IPhone software? The playlists still show in my ITunes on my computer but not in my IPhone. When I switch to synch by playlists and begin checking off the lists, the memory bar fills up. These lists are suppose to be in the ICloud and not go against my memory . I had access with my playlists to more than 18,000 somgs on my IPhone until this new Apple IPhone software update came alg. What do I do?

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • I put my sim card into a new iphone and tried to change it back to the old one and now the phone is locked. It's asking for a passcode and I didn't have a passcode set up.

Hi! I need help! I put my sim card into a new iphone (3g) and then tried to put it back into the old one to get my contacts from it. Now the old iphone is locked and it's asking for a passcode, but I never set up a passcode on it. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what to do? Thanks!

Not sure if this applies to your region, but in Australia the SIM password is often written on the "credit card" sized plastic card that the SIM was provided to you with the phone by the telco. Do you still have this? It could be in the iPhone box?
