  • AT&T and new iPhone Question

Hey everyone, I had a quick question I was hoping someone could help me answer regarding upgrading to the new iPhone. I currently have a family talk plan with AT&T and have unlimited data. I am the only one on my account who plans on upgrading to the new iPhone. Because it seems like the new iPhone will have LTE what does this mean for my data plan? Will I now have to make the switch to the shared data plans and lose my grandfathered unlimited data plan? Is there any way to avoid this? Thanks in advance for the help.

What I'm trying to tell you is that for all practical purposes, you're now paying $30 a month for 3GB's of data. What you need to do is compare that to AT&T's new offerings. As an example, when iOS 6.0 is released, it will enable FaceTime over 3G. However, AT&T has already announced that only customers on their new "Shared Data" plans will be able to FaceTime over 3G on AT&T's network. Shared Data also enables Personal Hotspot..."unlimited data" plans do not.
You really need to compare apples to apples & get this "unlimited data" out of your mind, because the fact is you really don't have such. So, you pay $30 a month for 3GB's of data with no FaceTime over 3G & no Personal Hotspot. Now compare that to AT&T's new offerings & make your decision.

  • New Iphone Questions Re: Specs

Has the issue of service been addressed with the new iphone? Meaning: I have had 3 ipods which have all died and had to be exchanged, repaired, or replaced. Will the problems of the ipod affect the iphone? Will the whole phone's operations be affected by the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the ipod?

There is no way to know if your anecdotal experience will translate to the iPhone.
There is no service documentation, there are no policies, and no parts are yet available for either the revised 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station or the Apple TV, and both are set to ship within weeks. I suggest that you put such questions aside until after the release of this product in June 2007, or pose them directly to personnel at Apple. No one here can speak to unannounced programs or policies concerning any Apple product or service.

  • HT201269 Transferring information to new iPhone question

I have accidentally opted to set up my new iPhone "as new iPhone" instead of restoring it from iCloud backup. How can I rectify this?

On your phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. When done, you can now start over.

  • New iPhone question (picture mail)

Just got the 3G iPhone and I was wondering why I cannot recieve pictures via text message, (picture mail). Is there something I need to download, or is it not possible?

You should really ask this in the iphone forum.
The iphone does not support MMS (picture messaging). This has been covered ad naseum in the iphone forums. You can use e-mail to accomplish the same thing. Type "MMS" into the forum search bar and you will find countless threads on this subject.
The new 3.0 software update due out this summer was announced to include MMS. So you will have it soon enough.

  • New iPhone questions  - sync iCal and To Dos

I have a subscribed calendar in iCal for Home and Work that is published and updated throughout the day(s) on my Mac. The published calendar events don't show up on my iPhone after sync'ing (however updates FROM the iPhone show up on the calendar on my Mac). Do I have a setting wrong?
Also, how do I see 'To Dos' on the iPhone?
On Settings in the iPhone - should the Wi-Fi be set to 'on' and if it is is this an additional fee (above the AT&T cost?

I'm not sure that subscription calendars wok on iphone, can't remember. You can do a forum search as this has been asked and answered before.
To Do's do not sync. You can look in the app store for apps to help. Again asked and answered many times, a forum search may help.
Wi-fi is the sam o iphone as with any other wi-fi device/laptop.
Wi-fi has nothing to do with your cellular service. You can look up wi-fi on wikipedia.

  • Set up as new iPhone question

Hi, when i get a new device I always "restore from backup" to get all my info back on either from a iTunes backup or iCloud as of recently because of no laptop for past year.
I've been having a few problems recently and was told by a few people that I should "set up as new device" and start fresh, if I did that how can I get my camera roll,  contacts, notes, bookmarks etc. back on? Also what about app data like game saves?
    Thanks in advance

For camera roll - you should be importing  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 your pics to your computer, then you can sync it back to your phone using itunes http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
Your contacts/notes/bookmarks should be sync to whatever program your using to sync with in itunes i.e outlook, etc.
Your app data will not be saved, you will have to start as new.

  • HT1386 I have a new iPhone and want to purchase a ringtone on iTunes.  It keeps asking for answers to a question that I did not set up and don't have the answer for.  How do I get pass this dilemma?

I have a new iphone and want to purchase ringtones from itunes.  Itunes is asking answers for security questions I did not set up and I can't answer them.  How do I get past this to be able to purchase.  I can purchase songs on my MAC and sync but itunes doesn't give the option to purchase ringtones on the MAC, just the iphone.

If the email hasn't arrived after a few hours and isn't in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • My new iphone 5 wont let me download music or apps i have to answer 2 security questions i dont remember my answers is been so long how do i get past this to get my music

my new iphone 5 wont let me download music of apps i have to answer 2 security questions its been so long since i have used these i dont remember the answers how can i get past this to download?

In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater.

  • I forgot all of the answers to my security questions and when I set up my apple id I did not add a rescue email, I recently got a new iphone and I cannot purchase anything on it because it asks me to answer my security questions which i can't reset, help!

I forgot all of the answers to my security questions and when I set up my apple id I did not add a rescue email, I recently got a new iphone and I cannot purchase anything on it because it asks me to answer my security questions which i can't reset because I do not have a rescue email. what do I do?

this does not help. I have forgotten ALL of the answers to my security questions. I can NOT reset the answers to my security questions without answering two of the three security questions. The other way to reset the answers to these questions is for apple to send me an email on my rescue email addres which I DO NOT HAVE.

  • I don't have a question so much as a comment for APPLE. I am a new iPhone 5s user and it has many things I like but It is too small and I can only talk on the phone and use the internet if i am in a position to use a wifi connection and that is not good

I am a new iPhone 5s user. I like many of the features it offers. I don't like that I cannot talk and use the internet (if I am away from WI-FI) and this phone is too small. I am actually thinking of returning it and going back to an Android. After all the hassle it took to get all my stuff working on this phone , it may be worth the switch. This phone needs to be able to multitask freely in this day and age. Also Safari is not the best search engine but I could work with it if I could talk and use it at the same time. I use my phone for business and this is a feature that is needed in my line of work.

The iPhone is working, as designed and advertised.  In this case, the user failed to educate themselves properly, either by proper research or asking the right questions, before purchasing the device.
I understand that the OP failed to do research. But then, I wasn't replying to the OP. I was replying to Chris. I have Verizon. I can talk and use data at the same time with my Droid Maxx. Therefore, the problem is not just with the network. It would be technically possible for an iPhone to do that on Verizon/Sprint if Apple had chosen to use a different chip, such as the kind other phone manufacturers have elected to use.
Of course, this is probably all irrelevant to the OP's issue. It was merely a point of clarification, especially for those people who are used to being able to use both voice and data at the same time on Verizon. When they switch to an iPhone, they are often surprized at the limitation.
    Best of luck.

  • HT5312 I have a new iphone 5c, my apple account is set to an email i no longer use, i cant get past my own security questions, how do i get everything back in order without losing all my stuff?

i have a new iphone 5c and i cant get past the security questions. i made my apple account a while ago with an old email. i created a new apple id with my new email but i dont use it. How do i terminate the account with my new email so i can replace my old email? If i reset my security questions will it delete all my stuff?

You can't delete an iTunes account, but you should be able to change the email address that is on it e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or via http://appleid.apple.com - you should then be able to put it on your old account.
For your security questions on your old account, if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on that account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address or don't have access to that email account (you won't be able to add one or change it until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add or update your rescue email address for potential future use
Resetting an account's security questions shouldn't affect any of the purchases that you've made on the account.

  • HT204053 I just got my new iPhone and I had a iPod that had about $40 on it and I can't remember the answer to my security questions and whenever I send the email it never comes. So I was wondering if there was any way that I could make a new apple I'd an

I just got my new iphone and I gave my phone the same apple ID as my iPod. Then I added $40 to my iTunes thinking that I could buy songs freely. When I went to go buy an album it said that I needed to answer some security questions to complete the purchase. So I clicked yes and it brought me to two questions that I totally forgot the answers to so I hit the link that said if you forgot your answers click here. I clicked it and it brought me to this website that you see all your information about your apple ID. So I went to privacy and security and the same two questions were there. I tried and didn't succeed. I even sent myself the email and I have been trying this for days on end and still never received any emails about those questions. So I thought what if I create a new apple ID then mabe I could transfer ONLY the money over, is this possible??  Because I would hate to see forty dollars go to total waste.

Funds cannot be transferred from one Apple ID account to another.
Try here > Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions
If that doesn't help, contact Apple for assistance with your security questions > Contacting Apple for support and service
