"New" iPhone Scam
My two year upgrade was available two weeks ago, so I went to my Verizon wireless store in Columbia, Maryland to upgrade it. I wanted an iPhone 5s 32gig, but they didn't have this in stock so it was shipped to my house. When I received it, I called to activate it adn went in to the new phone to restore my most recent backup from iCloud. At the step where you sign in to your Apple account however, someone else's e-mail address was already saved. I couldn't move forward and use my phone without knowing this person's password. I called the help line and they told me the only explanation for this was that Verizon had sent me a used phone, instead of the new one that I paid for. I went to the store to return it and now had to wait another week for them to send me a new phone. Let's hope this time that the phone is actually new and usable. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before or heard of this happening? I now assume that the "new" phones that we pay for in full are used and wiped to make us believe they are brand new.
No there's no way for them to install a virus. The stories have it all wrong. They steal info by the usual phishing tactic - you give it to them because you get sucked into responding to them. When you responded, they have confirmed an active number and that you are a possible sucker for the next scheme.

I agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end. -
Voice memos in iOS7, on new iphone 5s cuts off recordings
Hi,
Voice memos has always been super reliable in previous versions but on a new iphone 5s with ios7 I'm finding it cuts off recordings very unpredictably - sometimes after less than a minute sometimes after a quarter hour or so.
I've seen other threads where the issue has been described but this has been explicitly on longer recordings or where the recording is finished so wanted to raise this again as an issue on new hardware with recordings of any length where the recording stops by itself.
The bug is making the app unusable at present which is a shame as it looks like it could be a greatly improved app.
Any ideas?The worse thing about this is that Apple Support does not appear to know about it and steered me in the wrong direction. Today I tried it again and lost another 50 minute recording.
Apple needs to fix this and let users and tech staff know ASAP.
This has now cost me 2 hours of client time, plus 3 hours of tech support. The client information is priceless to me. I will not be able to retrieve the content of those discussions, even if I conduct the meetings again. Too many variables were at play.
I am beyond disillusioned that this issue is being reported in various threads throughout the fall and has not been addressed, and that phone support is unwaware, so more users will end up with the same terrible losses.
It is, in my opinion, highly irresponsible and a show of disrespect to customers to permit this to be occuring without warning users or applying fixes. -
How do I create a new Apple ID for wife's new iPhone 6 Plus?
Our family has many Apple Devices (Mac Book Air, iMac, iPhone 6, iPad 3rd Gen. iPod 5th Gen. and as of today a new iPhone 6 Plus. All of our Devices have always been using one Apple ID. This has created zero issues until now. With my wife's new iPhone 6 Plus I downloaded Find Friends and also Find My iPhone. I can't find any way to set up her iPhone 6 Plus tied only to her email address and cell phone number. Whenever I open Find Friends on either device and select the appropriate email address it changes the other device to that email address for Find Friends. I am beginning to think that now with two iPhones we will need to get my wife her own Apple ID. When I went to Create an Apple ID using her email address it won't allow it because her email address is associated as an alternate under my Apple ID. Reading Apple Support documents it shows using a common Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases but a separate Apple ID for iCloud if desired. Bottom Line, I think I have to Delete her email address from My Apple ID Account so that I can use that email for her new Apple ID. When I delete her email address from My Apple ID Account isn't that going to impact our shared Apps and iTunes Purchases?

No, she can use the existing AppleID for purchasing and use her own new AppleID for content syncing. If you wish to, you can set up Family Sharing and add her to your iCloud family. That will enable you to share certain resources such as calendars.

Help! I have a new iPhone 5s. My husband just lost his 4s, so I want to give him my 4s. We want to use same Apple ID so we both have access to itunes/apps purchases. Want to separate contacts, messages, mail, etc. I cannot change iCloud address on 4s iPhone. Also, when I tried to change iMessage I got a message that if I deleted my id (which seemed to be the only way to get my husband's I'd there), I would not be able to receive iMessages on any device.

I would just follow the instructions from this article to give your unused 4s to your spouse. Since you have already started using your 5s, you will still be receiving iMessages on that phone and will have no need to receive them on a device that has been replaced. Previous owner re-set the phone but his ICloud account stayed on now my phone. He uses his AppleID on his new iPhone now and, understandably, does not want to give me his password. Any ideas?? Please.
This issue is blocking my access to iTunes and any other file from my home computer. It keeps on telling me that I have to autorise my computer to pass on files, yet, it seems, for all this to happen, I need to get logged in through the phone's Apple ID. This of course is different to my one on my computer - and I have no password for it.
This phone is not stolen!! I payed still a fair bit for it. Am still in contact with the previous owner. He doesn't know how to fix the problem either.
Would appreciate any suggestion ????

My daughter has previously had an ipod which was linked to my itunes iphone account.
she now has a new iphone and has linked this to that account and now she receives all my contacts apps etc when she syncs her account.

I am trying to restore the back up files and music from my old iphone 3gs but when I plug in the new iphone 4 i got, It said i need a password to transfer the backup from the old phone to the new phone but I have no idea what that password would be... any ideas?

If I wanted to exchange my iPhone 5 for the new iPhone 6 (no additional cost after $199 gift card from selling iPhone 5) can I pre-order online now or do I just have to show up at a Verizon store Sept 19th?
scodaddy, that is a wonderful question. We are super excited about the new iPhone. You can always pre-order your new iPhone online and then start the mail in rebate by following this link: http://bit.ly/GGnDDC Or you can always go into the store location and do it all in store on the 19th when the phone is launched. I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there. I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working. Please help.
I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple. -
I just bought a second iPhone 5. I want to back up my first one to iTunes and then wipe it so my husband can use it. Then, I want to reload everything to the new iPhone that was on the first one. Advice?

Turn off imessage in settings/messages
Turn off Facetime in settings/Facetime
Delete icloud account in settings/icloud
Erase all data and settings in settings/general/reset
Delete the phone from your profile in https://supportprofile.apple.com if you registered your phone there

Sign in to the iPhone or connect the phone to the computer and sign into the store using the original ID and download the apps to the phone?

I am facing a strange problem on new iphone 5 that I bought last week. The maps app and the places in photo gallery shows the pin and my location, however there is no information of locations. Tried to close the apps, phone restart, reset etc. I am accessing it via strong wireless connection and it works fine on other devices. Please help.

When you went back to the place where you purchased this phone, & asked them, what did they say?
