New iPhone using old Apple ID

I'm that person who put my iPhone through the washing machine. Heavy load, long cycle. It's safe to say it's dead!
Now I'm waiting for my new iPhone to arrive. I don't plan to restore from a back up because I don't have one recent enough to matter but will I be able to use my old Apple ID with this new iPhone? I guess my question is will it work without being deleted or erased off the old iPhone? Will it clash saying that it's still on another iPhone? Or will I need a new Apple ID altogether? TIA!

Use a computer to go to http://www.icloud.com
Sign in using your Apple ID.  Go to Find My iPhone.  Remove the destroyed iPhone from there.  Then you'll be all set and can use your old Apple ID.

  • Can I change the apple id on new iphone to old apple id?

I just got a new iphone 5s after having a droid for a year. While at the Tmobile store I couldn't remember my apple ID/password so the guy told me just to set up a new one 'for now' and that I would be able to change it later so that I can sync my phone and get all my music from my old itunes account. I can't get my phone to sync with the itunes account on my laptop (but I am not very good at this stuff)  Can I either change the apple ID on my phone so that it is my old itunes account or is there a way to get my itunes music from old account onto new phone?  Thanks!

Yeah - I believe so. According to the article linked below, having that box checked means that you are, literally, dragging music, and other stuff from your library to your device as opposed to syncing. Not sure I understand the purpose of it. I have always sync'd my device, and I control what syncs by setting up the Profile pages accordingly.
In fact, I sync my devices and my husbands devices to our iTunes library on his Macbook Pro, but we have the Photos option unchecked on all of the device profiles on his Macbook Pro library. We then sync our photos from my Macbook Air, which is where our iPhoto library is housed. On the device profiles on my Mac, all of the boxes except the Photos tab are unchecked. We use the sync process on both, and the way the profiles are set up, it prevents anything from getting accidently un-synced or deleted....
Maybe the Manually Manage option allows you to drag music from multiple libraries without wiping out what you already have on your device....just not sure. But here is the link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
This article indicates that even with the Manually Manage option on, you can selectively set up your profile screens to allow automatic syncing at the same time (just not with the same content).
    Hope that makes sense!
    Cheers,

  • My iphone uses old apple id that no longer works

I am having a problem with my iphone wanting to use my old apple id email. I changed the email to a different one doe to a security breach from a hacker and now the phone still wants to use my old id for icloud

You should be able to log out of the old version of the account via Settings > iCloud > Sign Out (or Delete Account depending upon the iOS version), and then log back in with the updated version of your account

When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!
thx u so much for your time heeeellppppp.

Perhaps, as we have the same music tastes, for now i should just authorize her phone to my power book just to sync music, not pics, contacts etc? I'd hate to overright her contacts etc lol????

  • I'm trying to setup my new iphone and the Apple ID it asks for is my friends old Apple ID that she no longer has access to. How can I fix this?

I'm trying to setup my new iphone and the Apple ID it asks for is my friends old Apple ID that she no longer has access to. How can I fix this so I can use my new phone? The first step asks for my iCloud info but then asks for my friends after I agree to the terms.

The iPhone is new, has never been used. When asked if I want to set it up as a new phone, restore from an iTunes backup, or my iCloud backup I selected iCloud. It then askes for me to sign in with my Apple ID, I then agree to the terms, then it asks for me to sign into my friends Apple ID. She and I have used each other's computers in the past so I assume this is where her information is coming from. The problem is she no longer had that email or Apple ID and has no way of gaining access to it and therefor I am unable to proceed.
I suppose my question is, how can I remove her information from mine so I can setup my new phone using iCloud. Also, I have already checked my Apple ID online and nowhere on my account is her information listed.

  • Can I transfer the photos from old iphone to new iphone using itunes

can I transfer the photos from old iphone to new iphone using itunes

You can use iTunes or iCloud to move data from old iPhone to new iPhone. If you want a fast way you can try FonePaw iOS Transfer. Here I show you how to transfer data from iPhone to new iPhone:
First of all, backup old iPhone:
-Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    -Tap Back Up Now.
    -Wait until the backup finishes.
Then set up your new iPhone (When the backup of your old iPhone is finished, turn on your new iPhone ):
    -Choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
    -Tap next.
-Enter your Apple ID and password.
-Choose the backup of your old iPhone and tap Restore.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • Iphone 4s uses old apple ID in pop up window when asking to sign in can't find way to change it

When I go to try and download an app on my iphone 4s it asks for my password using old apple ID that is no longer in use. I tried to change this under settings/app store but it keeps using the old apple ID on the pop up window - that means I am not able to download apps on my iphone

Settings>iTunes/app Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...now, sign back in with your new ID.

  • I have an iPad 2 and used old Apple ID for iBook app; now it wants to upgrade but I have a new Apple ID, how can I make certain I don't lose any data in my iBooks?

I have an iPad 2 and used old Apple ID for iBook app; now it wants to upgrade iBook but it is "stuck" on my old ID, yet I already created a new ID but it won't let me update the App.  I have everything backed up on my MacBook so if I delete iBooks on my iPad and retrieve the App under my new ID and then sync with my MacBook, will I still have all of the books, etc.?

Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.

  • I set up my new computer using the apple ID i always use, and then later migrated all my files from my old mac book to the same new one, but under a different user (same ID). how do i consolidate the two users on my new mac book?

i set up my new computer using the apple ID i always use, and then later migrated all my files from my old mac book to the same new one, but under a different user (same apple ID). how do i consolidate the two users on my new mac book?

Well if you use the Finder Go menu to Computer, a window opens up double click on your boot drive and then on Users folder, open the other user folder and open Public and drop your files into DropBox
When you do this it will copy them and change the permissions and user assigned to it, so log into the other user and place them into your respective normal folders.
Once you have all your files over and don't need the old user, use System Preferences > Accounts to delete it if you wish, however it's good two Admin accounts on the machine in case something bad happens in the other. Some people for security reasons on use a Standard account for most uses and a emergency Admin account.
One can still do most Admin things in Standard user.

  • HT201269 I'm trying to set up my new iPhone using iCloud - I entered my apple ID and password and selected the backup to restore from but the next page asks me to enter a password for a DIFFERENT apple ID

I'm trying to set up my new iPhone using iCloud - I entered my apple ID and password and selected the backup to restore from but the next page asks me to enter a password for a DIFFERENT apple ID

What different Apple ID? Yours? Your friends? Your dogs... ? I think we are going to need more information. You're probably best setting up the phone as a new phone and restoring from iCloud later on.

  • How can I increase the speed of importing audio cds into my iTunes library?  On my old Dell PC cds imported at 30-35x, but my new iMac (using the Apple Superdrive) is trudging along at 8-10x.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Not sure you can do anything about this. I get vaiable import speeds - a lot depends on the actual disc. The Read Write spec is 24X but I rarely see speeds close to this.

  • Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 running 10.8.4? Tried mini display to VGA cable

Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with a MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 laptop?  Would like to use larger screen when working at home.  I have a mini display port to VGA cable and have tried to hook up the old display but it seems not to work.  When I try to activate the screen on the old display-- a window comes up in the MacBookPro and asks me if I want to shut down the computer.  What little I have read it that the MacBookPro had Thunderbolt and the old display may not be compatible?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    11.09.12 22:16:06,148 ClamXavSentry[286]: I will quarantine infected files
This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but it will likely cause other issues with your e-mail.
Here's my standard recommendation concerting the use of A-V software to deal with potentially infected messages:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix the corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.
