Select the jpg and save to your computer (on mac, you control-click, then save to iPhoto). Once on your computer, make sure it's in a folder you use to sync, then just sync.
On you phone, go to settings: wallpaper, and select that jpg (you may have to go find it in whatever folder you put it in to sync). Basically, you can select any photo as your wallpaper - I use my own photos.

I have upgraded from a 4gb to an 8gb and then to a 16gb iPhone. Today I purchased the new 3G 16gb iPhone and have transferred all of my information (including Text Messages) to my new iPhone.
What they tell you in the store is to just plug in your phone and hit sync. That doesn't give you everything. To get everything from your old phone to your new one, just follow these steps:
1) Sync your old iPhone (when finished, unplug it)
2) Plug in the new iPhone
3) Ask to "Restore" (this may bomb out but just restart the restore and it should work)
4) After #3 above, the system will ask you if you want to resync from your new iPhone. DO NOT USE THAT OPTION) Instead, choose from the drop down selection Your Old iPhone Backup)
5) Let it run. When completed, you will only have your system changes (Wallpaper, icons, text messages, etc.)
6) Now sync your iPhone to your iTunes (remember that you will have to reselect your playlists, movies, etc.)
You should now have the new iPhone with all your old iPhone's information

Go to settings/facetime and tap the ID there and log out and log in with new ID.

Go to settings/icloud and delete the account and when prompted select “keep information on your device” then turn it back on with the new ID.

To change your iTunes Store country, sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you would like to use, tap Settings/iTunes & App Store/Apple ID/View Apple ID/Country/Region

What version of Windows are you using? This is not a problem with iTunes. It may have to do with an issue of the compatibility of a newer version of iTunes with an older Windows system/older hardware.
What do you want to synchronize? If you were previously using iCloud you should be able to restore most of your oringinal content onto your new phone via was was last synched with the iCloud on your previous phone/device.

To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Click Apply.

New iPhone not listed as a device on iTunes

The one sentence answers to similar questions on here don't help me much so... My iPad 2 shows up as a device on iTunes 11. When I connect the new iPhone 5 via USB it is also there but unlike the iPad it will not show up on iTunes wirelessly and yes it does shows a wireless connection. All the settings appear the same as far as I can see. I'm obviously missing something. Any ideas what it might be? This isn't a huge problem but more of a puzzle which in my 20+ years with Apple I usually figure out eventually. Help from the collective wisdom on here always helps the solution process however.

Simple solution to my own problem--- Restart Phone

New iphone, email, reception trouble

as much as I like the new iphone with all it's gadgets - after all I need it to make calls, receive calls and get my emails instantly. If that would work properly I would be sooo happy. But it doesn't!
Right now I have to switch email folders back and fourth until it shows my new emails. The funny thing is that it alerts with the tone you typically hear, so at least I know there is a new mail. Very annoying!
Reception is an issue! Not only with the new phone, but with all the previous ones I own.
At my home I have to turn off 3G otherwise all my calls drop after a few minutes and that even I am close to AT&T head offices.
Can't wait until Verizon offers an alternative. Even if I have to buy a new phone I will give it a try and dispose the AT&T driven one to my collection of old iphones.
I just hope there is a fix in foreseeable future. Otherwise I am getting back to an ordinary simple phone and keep the iphone as a toy!
Hope this is not gonna happen!
Fix it and do it quick!

More info.
If I disable wi fi, you tube works fine via iphone data link.
you tube works fine via all computers on the same wireless network but no iphones or ipod touchs can use youtube via wireless.
Is there something that the iphone does differently than a regular computer when it connects to youtube that would cause this?

New iPhone 5s only syncs cloud music

I bought my wife a new iphone 5s to upgrade from her 4s. The 4s was backed up to the iCloud and we restore it on to the new iPhone 5s - all seemed to work fine except when we attempt to sync the music on her laptop that was not purchased via iCloud, it refuses to sync. IT looks like it is going to sync, but then completes with no error message. What can we do to ensure her music collection on her laptop will sync to her new phone without losing any data?

If you are using an LTE signal, the indicator bars will always have a different signal strength than 4G oe 3G.
I would get five bars using T-Mobiles 4G on my iPhone 4S and I get 3-4 bars using LTE on T-Mobile. It's normal if this is what you are talking about.

How to transfer address book to new iPhone 4 (which has micro-SIM)?

Since I will be unable to put the SIM card from my Blackberry Pearl 8100 into the micro-SIM slot of the iPhone 4, how can I get my contacts into the new iPhone 4? The B'berry just has accumulated contact info SIM transferred from previous Razor, not address book or calendar or anything from my iMac's now Entourage 2008 program.
My iMac's address book has 350 entries collected over the past 20 years. I sure do not want all that significant amount of old, historical info to be on my phone, so a direct sync would bring a ton of crap to the iPhone (don't want that).
Is there a way to:
1) mark some (read most) contacts NOT to transfer in a sync?
2) or any (relatively) easy way separate current 'phone related data' from the rest of the data which is more related to email and physical addresses info that I (think I) have no use for on the phone. It seems like my iPhone address book would be a confusing mess if all data from my iMac were transferred over.
Any ideas on this are appreciated.
I have been reading of the huge frustration on iPhone pre-order 'trying' today, so I have not attempted yet. I need to decide if my address book transfer would be best done at an Apple Store or if I should have it shipped to my home for me to deal with the data transfer. Hmmmn.

With that said, my suggestion is to yes create an gMail account (if you don't already have one).
Find a way to export out your current contacts to a .CSV file.
Google's gMail address book has an option to Import from a .CSV file (maybe some other formats too).
Once imported, verify everything looks good and edit as needed.
When you get your iPhone there is an option to have the iPhone get and sync it's address book with Google.
Once setup, it allows you to edit contacts via a computer (browse to gMail, edit contacts) and the iPhone will automatically get the changes. Also any changes you make on the iPhone will automatically show up in Google's gMail contacts. Thus no need to ever plug phone in to sync contacts. You only need to plug in to sync music and other data.
I find this process far better than having to plug in to ensure my contacts get backed up.

Anyone know why I can't sync a Beatles song downloaded on ITunes on my Mac to my new IPhone 5?

I've downloaded "Let It Be" onto my Macbook Pro, and when I just synced that to my new IPhone, I got an error message that said that song could not be synced to my IPhone. Any help appreciated, as I'd like to put the Beatles collection on the phone.

You will need to do it that way. That would be the only thing I can think of that would be stopping the transfer of purchases. If you go into Task Manager and Services, is the Apple Mobile Device Service running? If you go into Device manager when the phone is connected, do you see the Apple Device Driver listed under USB devices? Have you tried disconnecting the phone and then rebooting the computer, then doing a reset on the phone holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots and the computer reboots, connect them again?

Getting the new Iphone

I recently dropped my iphone 3g and the screen shattered. I was thinking about buying the new iphone 3g s and replace my current iphone. How do you think I should do this? Do I need to pre-order the new iphone? Does it cost money to change phones? Once i have the new iphone, how would i replace my old one? How much will everything cost?

Syncing new iPhone

If I sync my new iphone to my itunes account that I've used for my old iphone will it completely erase all the content in my itunes from my old iphone? I don't want to loose it.

Prior to syncing your itunes to your new iphone you will want to connect the old iphone to your itunes select the device showing in your itunes program and right click on the device (if using a PC) and go to where it reads 'transfer purchases' once you've done this all purchases made on the device that are not showing up in your itunes library will then transfer to your itunes library. However, IF you have music on your device that was not purchased using itunes and the account you are currently using you will then want to transfer this music to a storage device prior to syncing your new device with your itunes. To answer your question, YES, once you have synced your new device with your itunes library anything that is on the device that is not part of the itunes library will be lost if precautions are not taken to collect the data on the older device.

Deleted default iPhone wallpaper (butterfly)

I loved my old default iPhone wallpaper. It was one of the iPhone default wallpapers (Butterfly). The only place it seemed to be located was Settings, Wallpaper, Wallpaper.
With the new 4.0 iPhone Software (and I had to perform a complete Restore), it appears the Wallpapers are completely different (27 Photos) and my beloved Butterfly Wallpaper is NOT an option anymore.
Anyway Apple could post the Butterfly picture again? Also how can I save the picture down to my PC as a backup?

Apps disappeared after restored new iphone 4 from back up

I just restored my new iphone 4 from my last 3GS back up, and all of my apps are gone! The folders I created are there, as is my 'wallpaper' and my address book, but none of my old apps.
I had to transfer the back up file (which took FOREVER) from my Mac to my PC laptop, because my Mac is running 10.4.11 and therefore work work with iphone 4. Updating the Mac to 10.6 is not an option b/c it's got a powerpc processor, and rather than shell out 125 bones for Leopard, I am going to replace the Mac (when I can afford to do so).
So does anyone have any idea why my apps didn't make it onto the new phone? Does it have to do with the fact that the phone was synced with the itunes library on my Mac? I will need to sync it to the Itunes library on the PC from now on(which is empty at the moment). Itunes asked if I wanted to sync it with this new library, but seems to suggest that doing that would wipe the phone. I can usually find the guidance I need through a search, but as my situation is a little complicated, I've been unable to find anything related to my specific problem. Any advice about how to rescue my apps would be most appreciated.

I just had this happen yesterday! Ggggggrrrrr. I was trying to update a couple apps on my iPhone 4, and a message kept popping up saying “Can’t connect to iTunes”. After about 3 tries I thought maybe I just needed to reboot the phone.
After the reboot and my iPhone turned back on, there were no more folders (except for one labeled ‘Utilities’ with about 4 apps in it on my home screen), and I had 11 pages of apps!
All my apps were not visible because I have more than can fit on 11 pages, so I had to wait until I got home and synced with iTunes, then all my apps were visible.
I had to manually recreate all my folders. I certainly hope Apple fixes this bug before it happens again – it’s beyond annoying!!

Help me with my new iphone

hello everyone ...im trying to erase some pictures that i put into my phone , the pictures were transferred to my iphone from my computer...but i cant find a way to delete certain pictures...does anyone know how... cuz it seems that once u have them in the phone u have them there for life or something cuz i cant find a way to delete them.

You can only delete pictures your physically take with the iPhone. The only other way to remove them from your phone is through a sync with iTunes. To make things easy for me, I've done the following:
I made separate folders that I have "checked marked" on my iTunes
My music: Playlist named "iPhone" (I simply add or remove whichever songs to sync)
My pix: Contacts folder (To add pix I may have a new contacts)
Wallpaper folder (Add or remove pix to decorate my iPhone day to day)
Everytime I manipulate the folders..I just sync it and have all the new stuff I added and get rid of all the stuff I no longer want on my phone.
