New iPhone - when does service start?

Just picked up a couple new iPhones - one for me, one for my wife.
The guy at AT & T store said it would take a few hours before we were able to use the phones...well, it's been 5-1/2 hours now and no service. Is this normal???

Did you port your number over from a different carrier? If so, when I got my iPhone the guy said it can take up to 3 hours for it to complete but mine took 1 1/2 days before everything was complete. Until then I had to use my iPhone to make calls and my old phone (Verizon) to receive calls/text messages.
It was only a matter of minutes before my iPhone was activated however (able to make calls from it).
If you're not in the same situation then I'm not sure what to say except wait it out, maybe the AT&T servers are chugging along slowly but surely tonight.

NEW IPHONE 3GS DOES NOT START

I just got my new iphone 3gs yesterday and have not even had the time to have a nice look at it coz it just does not start.
When I put the phone to charge the apple logo appears and after that just the sign of USB connector pointing towards itunes (with the itunes logo) appears and phone stops. I had it charged for more than four hours but I don’t see the battery charging status icon anywhere.
When I press the ON switch on the top the same thing repeats itself meaning it gets stuck in the USB connector pointing towards itunes (with the itunes logo) sign. Totally confused and frustrated. Obviously it's telling you that you need to connect your iphone to your itunes to activate it, otherwise it won't work.
Firstly download itunes, under Downloads. then install then plug in your iphone, and follow the instructions to activate it. Then you should be set and start using the phone.

Where can I buy a NEW iPhone WITHOUT a service plan?

I have an iTouch now, I'm sell it.
I want to have external speakers for apps and alarms.
I do not want iTouch 2nd generation.
I do not currently need it as a phone, but would like to have it for when I am ready.
Is it possible to purchase the latest iPhone without any phone plan? When I go through the steps to purchase an iPhone from apple.com it doesn't have a "no plan" option.
Do other places online / B&M sell iPhones or only apple.com and apple stores? (I do not want a used or refurbished)

You can't buy a new iPhone in the US without a plan. Even if you could buy one, it would not work (even as an iPod) until activated with a cell phone provider. You would have to buy a used iPhone that had been activated. Be sure to get a US model (or one for your country if you aren't in the US). Check the part numbers in the right column of

to make sure it is the correct version for your country.
An officially unlocked one from one of the countries that sell them would also be OK, but any repair would have to be done in its original country. It would have to have been activated in some country, also.

New Macbook Pro does not start up after updating...HELP!!!

My new Macbook Pro does not start up after it got updated. The first time I used it, it was perfect. I updated it and restarted it when it told me to but it doesn't boot. It shows an apple and a spinning circle when it turns on but that's it.
Can somebody please help me?

A couple of other things you can try -
With my 2010 Ford Fusion (and SYNC) I received the same not optimized message a few times. There were several things I had to do but eventually, I got it cleared up. Not sure exactly how this will translate to your Toyota but maybe it will.
- Try resetting the iPhone via a power off/on or a hard reset where you hold the home and power buttons. Then power back on and plug into your USB port.
- In my case I had an issue with SYNC in my car where I needed to reset the USB port in my car. Not sure if Toyota has something similar. The fact that you said it won't charge makes me wonder if the USB port got disabled in your car. This happened in my car and an easy reset for me was to remove a fuse for a few minutes and replace.
- Update your iPhone in iTunes and resync it there. Then try connecting again in yor car.
- Delete and re pair your iPhone from your Toyota system

Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in with your current Apple ID
Change the Apple ID to the old one and save changes.
Sign in on the device with the same password for your account.
After logging in and signing out of Facetime, Messages, iCloud and itunes and app store, go back to Apple ID.com and change it back to your normal Apple ID.
Go to your email account and reverify your account by clicking on the Verify now link
Now re-login to those services with your normal Apple ID and password.

Unfortunately you do not have direct access to iOS backs in iCloud.
I am not sure what you mean by:
It's locked with an enterprise (third party code)
Do you mean it is a corporate device and managed by Mobile Device Management software?
If so the IT department can reset the passcode.
Other than that, there is no third party iOS app that can lock the device at that level unless it is jailbroken and then no one here can help you.

It seems like the setup keeps repeating.

If you haven't tried, Reset the phone by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time until the phone turns off. With itunes open try turning the phone back on if it didn't by itself. Itunes should ask you then to restore the phone.
