New Smart Playlist Keyboard Shortcut Not Working
Using iTunes 7.5/Leopard 10.5.1
The shortcut for creating a new smart playlist (optcmdN) is not working. However, I can use the keyboard shortcuts for creating a new folder or a new playlist. Any of you have the same problem?
Thanks!OK...this might be too simple to possibly be the answer...but is the number lock key down on your keyboard?
EDIT: Well... no, that can't be it...or the new folder and new playlist keys wouldn't work either. Have you downloaded any widgets or third-party apps recently?

Keyboard shortcut to open new Tab in Terminal.app
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to open new tabs with keyboard shortcuts in Terminal.app
Opening the default profile is not a problem (command-T), but how can I get to the non-default profiles? Assigning keyboard shortcuts in the System Preferences doesn't seem to work.
Maybe something like a Quicksilver Trigger? Applescript? Any ideas?
Thanks,

Keyboard shortcut not working - nonbreaking hyphen - help
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I can't get the keyboard shortcut for nonbreaking hyphen to work. I can get the nonbreaking hyphen to insert if I insert it via the type menu but menus are such time wasters. I have even tried to make a new and different keyboard shortcut for nonbreaking hyphen and it will still not work. Any ideas of what needs to be corrected/purged/smashed with a hammer to get this to work?
Thanks in advance for any help
Running InDesign CS3 5.0.2 on a PowerMac 2x2.66Ghz dual Core Intel Xenon, OS X 10.5.2, 2gigs ram 667 Mhz, and it sits on a crumby looking desk but I don't think the desk is the problem. ;)Sigh. I figured out the problem. But thank you M Blackburn. Your response got me thinking about other shortcuts. Sure enough it was Universal Access that was causing the conflict. I must have hit command-option-8 at some point to turn on Zoom in Universal Access which then uses command-option-dash for the zoom out feature. Since I am already zoomed out nothing happened when I tried that key combination. Once I turned off that Zoom feature my keyboard shortcut in InDesign worked again.
Phew.
Thank you -
Whatever happened to CTRL. 0? to fit the page to the screen. In the new Acrobat these keyboards shortcuts are replaced with a button on the toolbar. Is there a way to set up your own keyboard shortcuts?

Setting a new keyboard shortcut
I am trying to set a new keyboard shortcut. I named my New Set, chosen the Product Area, chosen the Command and tabbed to the New Shortcut window. When I try to type in the New shortcut, I can only get 1 letter typed in and then that shortcut pops up(if I try to type Ctrl, as soon as I type C I get a message C copy). Any ideas?
ThanksFunction assigned was swash
Product Area:Panel Menu
Commands:Character: Open type (swash)
Shortcut is Shift+Ctrl+Alt+M
as I follow in the lesson, using the type tool, the N is highlighted and then the keyboard shortcut is used and the N then has some added curlyques at the beginnig and at the end of the letter.
When I try, it deletes the N and gives the green sign (looks like the symbol for non-joiner with a period beneath it). Not sure why I would get this symbol when I try to insert a swash.

Set keyboard shortcut for Acrobat DC tools (highlight tool, selection tool)
It seems that this new version Acrobat DC does not have keyboard shortcut for these tools?
How to set shortcuts as the old versions (e.g. U key for highlight, V key for selection)?Might this link be what you are looking for? https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/keyboard-shortcuts.html
I can't find anything on creating your own shortcuts. Actually, you may want to go to the online help and download the manual in PDF form. -
Keyboard shortcuts not working on new laptop
Hello! I'm having a huge problem and am hoping someone here can help. I've just bought a new laptop (because my old laptop fell apart) and have installed Illustrator on it. For some reason, the keyboard shortcuts aren't working properly. I can't use the spacebar to get to the hand tool, and every time I use a shortcut to get to any other tool, my cursor pauses for a moment before I can move it again. I'm running CS2 (I know, I know; just don't have the money to upgrade) on a Windows 7 system. I specifically sought out a computer with Windows 7, because that's what my old laptop had, and Illustrator ran beautifully on it. If anyone can offer any help, I would greatly appreciate it! This problem is really going to negatively impact my productivity.
People around here cannot know unless theyy use the same machine. I'm sure there's such a tool lingering in your tray area or being launched on system start. It's common practice to make up for the shortage of alternate keys on laptops. Check the task manager or use tools like Sysinternals' Autoruns to find potential candidates... If it has installed some system control panel you might be able to tweak the behavior there, otehrwise I'd simply start by uninstalling it from the Add or Remove Programs panel... you may lose some comfort features, though, like volume regulation via keys and all that....

How do I set the keyboard shortcut for zoom tool to be r-clicking the mouse?
I want to have the r-click of my mouse be the zoom tool like in Quark Xpress. Can I make the Z shortcut to choosing the Zoom tool instead a r-click? I know how to get into keyboard shortcuts - just dont know what to type in for the new shortcut to make it a r-click. right now its 2 steps to zoom rather than in quark 1. not that I want to go back. lol.
also, while were talking about migration differences and extra steps, is there a way I can hide guides and set overprint preview in one step? (this is something I do often and was just a simple F7 in quark)
so these are just 2 things that take 2 steps in ID but one in quark. not that I want to go back. lolOK, I've been doing this since CS2 with no need for a script. To hide guides and show preview...
1) Go to 'Keyboard Shortcuts'
2) Go to 'Product Area - Tools'. Yes, you'd think it would be in Views! But the buttons for this is at the bottom of the Tool Bar.
3) Go to 'Commands: Toggle view setting between default and preview'
4) Click your cursor inside 'New Shortcut' and hit the key you want or type it in. I choose the unused F2 key
5) Click the 'Assign' button and you are set. Hit the key to switch back and forth.
As for your mouse Zoom, use Power Zoom as described above or just hold down the Alt/Option button in 'Hand' mode and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Not one step but it works!
Now you won't miss Quark at all! -
Pro X Tools Keyboard Shortcuts
I have not found any previous discussion about this.
The version 9 tools shortcuts (Esc and numbers combos) are no longer active in X...
The only tool shortcut in X appears to be T, for the pointer tool. When looking in the keyboard shortcuts configuration pane, all the others tools are undefined.
How are you solving this? What keys are best for efficient editing? Has anybody got some advice how best to configure the tools shortcuts?
Thanks in advance,
BoHmm. Can't explain what you are seeing.
Are your previosly saved key commands not in the prests menu?
If you never saved them you could, of course, save your commands from Logic 9 and paste them into Logic X
My experience was that I chose to let Logic "optimise" the shortcuts for Logic when asked during the installation.
A film school where I teach was asked the same question and the tech guy said no, so the original key commands (the Logic 9 defaults0 were kept.
The new ones are quite different, and there would be good reasons for this, but no-one is probably all that keen to re-learn their familair commmands, me included.
Among other things, Mountain Lion has commandeered control left arrow for bringing up dashboard, but that can be disabled in the dashboard preferences in system prefs. I needed to do this because my special commands use this for zoom.
My commands were set up long ago to echo the commands from Prisma, an early PC DAW, so I didn't have to relearn them. Plus they seemed logical. But other apps, like Melodyne, expect that certain key commands will do certain things, so when using it as a plugin, I had to re-organise my commands so that Logic andf melodyne would both understand what's going on. That kind of conflict is probably what's behind the re-jig of Logic X commands.
Just my 2 cents. -
I switch the load images automatically selection back and forth in order to save on my 5GB monthly data plan. Is there a utility that would allow me to create a macro of multiple keystrokes to do this with one action? Something like the macro function in Excel? Or is there another way to do this more easily than going to tools, options and clicking on the box? I don't see a shortcut for this item in the standard keyboard shortcuts list
Hi,
You could try [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/image-block/?src=search Image Block]. Please also go through the reviews, help and ratings. You can also try to search for similar add-ons via Firefox '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', Search box on the top right corner, or via the official [https://addons.mozilla.org/ AMO]. -
Is there any way to create an action or keyboard shortcut to set the Crop tool to the front window size in Photoshop CS6?
I find that I use that several times a day. I got used to it being the top choice in the Crop tool presets menu.
Thanks. It depends on whether you have the cloud version or perpetual license version.

For the perpectual version press F -
How do I set shortcuts on my new onn wireless keyboard for volume control?
Replacement Keyboard
Volume control issue with a non- Apple Keyboard
[Sunday - July 29, 2012 - 2:18pm]
Question: I just purchased a new keyboard in place of the orginal for my iMac which gave out this morning. The brand name of the keyboard is
ONN & it's a wireless board. I've encountered an issue that is a deal breaker - if there is no possible way to correct it. The volume control buttons used to
increase/decrease/mute the volume do not work on this product. I bough this keyboard because it was one of the two that was Mac compatable at my
local store. I realize you get what you pay for but hope there is a soulution!
**Sidenote: I was curious, anyone had any other issues with these keyboards?
Some additional information:
When I woke up this morning, sat down in my computer chair, turned on my iMac and pulled up Textedit. I placed my hands on my faithful keyboard and within moments I realized that it had met it's end. I was quite upset that my original, sleek white iMac keyboard was now a thng of the past but realized that I'd need a replacement very soon in order to get my paperwork done.
Unfortunately, I did not have time to ride forty-five minutes to my local Apple store and I didn't neccesarily want to hand over the cash for one of the pricey keyboards at the time because I am going on a vacation within the next few weeks and each dime counts. So, I decided to visit a store that obviously would have the cheapeast deals in the meantime. So, I headed to to Wal-Mart to make a quick purchase
As I walked the aisles it soon became evident that today's market still is not on point when it comes to having Apple compatable hardware, softwore or anything for that matter. As I quickly skimmed the keyboards I ran across several that caught my eye, but of course, they were all made specifically for Windows. So, finally I approcahed two keyboards that were Mac compatible. The first was way too large and came with a mouse, which I did not need. The second caught my eye and I knew that this would be my purchase.:::
The verdict: an onn wireless keyboard that was both affordable and also gave off a sleek and modern apperance. (Retailed: $24.00)
So, I got home and began using the board. For the first how I was actuallly very satisfied. I like the buttons and the feel of the board. Then, I encountered a problem that made my interested for the new keyboard vanish.
The Issue: On the boards layout, the (F2) key has a symbol that notates the decrease volume control button, (F3) of course would be the increase volume button & lastly the (F4) button represents the [mute] button.
However, these buttons don't work. Sadly, I am not aware of how I could possibly change this issue or if it would even be possible. I sincerely hope that it's possible - because I like the convience of the volume control keys - they were actually my favorite part of the keyboard. Manually changing the volume by going through system preferences does not sound fun to me once so ever. I guess you could call me spoiled but I don't think I can even keep this board if it doesn't have the ability to change volume/mute via the keyboard.
This is a shame because the keyboard it'self isn't bad at all and I actually somewhat like it. So, if you have any information or an answer to this question - I'd truly appreciate hearing your responses! Also, do keep in mind I am a rookie when it comes to computers as a whole so try to simplicate things for me if that is nessecary.
Closing negative note on this keyboard: As I typed this I started encountering a very annoying problem. As I am typing in a line, forming a sentence the keyboard would randomly start typing in pargraphs above and below as well. I'm not sure if this is something that I caused by pressing too hard with my hands or if this is a deffect. Either way, I will saving my receipt and the boxing for this product until I hear further news.
I hope to hear from you soon and I appreciate your help very much.
