New ipod, can't get it to download from PC.

I have just purchased my first iPod (60GB).
Have sucessfully loaded the software onto my Toshiba laptop, incerted a CD and imported the songs, but when I connect the actual iPod through the USB cable, the iPod flashes 'Do not disconnect'. Nothing else happends. No songs are uploaded, and I the iTunes freezes on my laptop.
I have tried resetting both iPod and laptop, but with no change.
What am I doing wrong?

  • I have a powerbook g4 i want to upgrade to leopard where can i get the free download from ?

i would like to know where to get a free download of leopard for my powerbook g4 can someone help thank you

There is no free download of Leopard. Any offered on the internet are illegal pirated copies; reports here from people who tried them indicate that either they don't work or come with malware and misery.
We don't know where you are located but, if in the US, you can phone the Apple Store at 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask for an operating system specialists. Ask if they  have copies. Some people--not all--have been able to get 10.5 that way at a modest cost.
If they say no, you must buy it on the open market and some people are selling vaild and proper Leopard install disk sets for as much as many G4 PowerBooks are worth on the used market.

  • Crashed laptop, new ipod - can I get my itunes store content?

Hi, I just got a new i pod touch for my son as the old one was beyond repair (and kept by warranty repairers) His laptop has now broken and can't switch on. Is there any way to get his itunes store content via another PC. Also ,what if a repairer can get to his hard drive - can we retrieve it that way? Any suggestions appreciated as we are fighting in the dark here!

    Try here:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Not all options/content may be available if outside the USA.
Yes. Just copy the iPod media folder to the new computer if the above does not work. completely.

  • Getting new ipod--can I get my songs off of iTunes?

My old mini has died and I think I am going to get a nano to replace it. My question is will itunes let me get all my songs to put them on my new nano? They must have some way of doing this since I can't be the only one to ever get a new device and there is NO WAY I am re-buying all my songs! Thanks for any help!

Then what would stop anyone from coming to my house and plugging in their device to get my play list? I really am getting a new one, I just assumed that iTunes was going to give me a hard time about getting my songs

  • HT4623 Hi how can I get pages to download from my mac to my iPad? Do I have to buy it again?

    Thanks

On the mac, you can save a Pages document to icloud and on the ipad (yes, you have to buy the ipad version of Pages) you can access the document.
If instead you mean how to download the Pages program from a mac to an ipad, then you can't.  Different operating systems need different programs.  Just like you can't download Word in Windows to a Mac (unless you use a Windows simulator on the Mac).

  • I recently got a replacement iPhone and when syncing it I found I lost all my downloaded music in my iPod, can I get it back?

I recently got a replacement iPhone and when syncing it I found I lost all my downloaded music in my iPod, can I get it back?

I lost all content on my ipod after connecting it to a new computer. I had brought my iTunes library over from the old computer and had the most recent iTunes installed, but iTunes didn't see the ipod. Long & short of it is I worked with Apple support, finally was able to restore the ipod and everything looked like it was syncing normally. When I ejected the ipod there was no content on it at all. After trying several times unsuccessfully to get it reloaded and another session with Apple support, they suggested the ipod was damaged. Since it was working fine up till that point I doubted that. I then thought it might be the iTunes library that was corrupt so I checked that. (It's fine.) So I found an ipod repair place (authorized Apple dealer) and when I called them they found that it appears to be an issue with iTunes software itself and pretty much said I have to wait for an update to fix the issue. So I did everything you're supposed to do & it messed up my ipod. Now iTunes doesn't recognize thje ipod again!

If you went without an appointment, then it would make sense that you could be turned away.

If you manually open iPhoto do you not see the photos?
    Maybe here:

Yu are trying to impoort photos taken by or saved to the iPod, right? If the photos were synced to the iPod then iPhot does not work.

  • HT1766 if  i get a new ipod can i put my same apps on it and does it keep data on the apps

if i get a new ipod can i restore my apps if i hve backed them up on itunes and does itunes keep the data for my apps

App data is NOT stored with the apps in your iTunes library. Some apps store data is stored i servers and thus will appears when yo log into that app. Otherwise, yo will have to restore from backup to get the app data back to the time that the backup was made.

The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.

A 1G iPod can go to iOS 2.2 via iTunes and iOS 3.1.3 via

A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. With OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
A 3G to 5.1.1  Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later

iOS: Transferring information from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My brand new ipod touch won't let me download apps.

My brand new ipod touch won't let me download apps.  I put in my password and then get a screen that says "Download Now".  I can't press the okay button to start the download.  What should I do?  All of the other buttons on the screen work, so I don't think it is broken.

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

  • Ive had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been using my laptop to sync songs from iTunes.  Unfortunatley, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do i now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

I've had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been connecting it to my laptop to sync any downloaded tunes from iTunes.  Unfortunately, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do I now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.
