  • My new Ipod Touch 3 G Battery life

Hello, I just received my brand new ipod touch 3G 32g, but I'm not impressed about the battery life (maximum 5hrs of music, maybe 2hrs of internet) and I won't try movie.
I saw some issues about the iphone OS 3.1 but only on iphone. Some of you have the same issues on your ipod touch? I wonder if I have to send it back for a replacement....
    Thanks
    Maxence

yeah wifi does take up a lot of battery. most people recommend switching it off when not in use, but i find it's more like a phone looking for a signal - i.e. if it can find the network, the battery isn't used up anywhere near as quickly as if it is constantly searching. USING wifi, as deggie says can quickly kill the battery (presumably it depends what you are doing). i regularly listen to a 3.5 hour radio show on the bbc iplayer, and on my old 1st Gen (haven't really tested it on my new 3rd gen), this pretty much drained the battery completely.
how about your brightness settings? you should always have that set as low as possible, having it high can be a battery drain.

  • My ipod mini shows full battery life...but it keeps saying that its dead.

hey I just took my ipod off its charger, I have an ihome...and it was on it all night and most of the day charging. I went to turn it on and it showed that it had full battery and then I started playing a playlist and on the first song it played it stopped the song and said that it didnt have any battery life left. then just now I turned it back on it looked like it had almost no battery life. then after a song had played a lil bit it goes back to full battery. Then later after its been played for about maybe a half an hour if that it dies again for good. untill I charge it back up and start the whole thing over again. now I know these things last longer then a half an hour, am I right? its also like 2 years old.
please! some one help me or tell me what I should do because Im about ready to trash the thing and buy a new ipod! and its past warrenty.

you can replace your battery for like 30 bucks. There are instructions on the web and quite a few websites that sell replacement batteries. Check the web for an hour or two. Don't spend another 250 when you can have it back ready to rock for a lot less. Apple just wants your 250, don't give it to them. It's highway robbery, look at cell phones, they need replacement batteries every 2 years or so. And $30 for a replacement li-ion battery is a total steal these days...

  • Ipod Touch 3rd generation battery life

I couldn't find an answer to support this question, so I'm putting up a new post. I recently got the new ipod touch 3rd generation (32gb) a few weeks ago. I got the customization so it shipped directly from China. I seem to be having a problem with horrendous battery life and I don't know if it is a bad one or not. I have the BT always turned off and wi-fi most of the time, but I find that my battery drains from fully charged very quickly, especially if I access wifi. My ipod can drop 50% battery life in 20-30 minutes just "surfing" for apps or accessing a safari link from, for example, the kindle app or nytimes app. I am aware that some apps use more power than others, but I'm finding this life thing horrendous. I have the screen set pretty dim, only use the email function "on access" (no 'push' enabled), no auto-sync for nytimes, etc. I don't know what to do as this was as customized engraving iPod and I feel like everyone I know has fine battery life. Any help much appreciated. We have an Apple Store here in town but can they check it out for me? It has the 3.1.2 version software. Thanks!

Hi can you help I was having problems with my iPod so I restored it but I
accidentally set it up as a new iPod is there any way to restore it from an old
backup when I right click iPod in iTunes there isn't one anyway to recover one
    or find it on computer

The following says how to restore from backup.
    iOS: How to back up
If you go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices you can see if you have an iTunes backup. You need one dated before or the exact time you started the restore.

  • When I got a new iPhone5, I experienced short battery life, and system sofware issues were not the cause. The camera also takes a blury picture regardless of lighting and I have the black one. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

What makes you so sure it isn't software?
The camera can be focused by take the point of focus on the touch screen.
If it is new as you said, it should be under warranty. Make a Genius Bar appointment or contact Apple with a repair request.

  • I cannot download the latest version of itunes to my Mac OS X 10.5.8 to sync with my new ipod nano.  Any suggestions???

I cannot download the latest version of itunes to my Mac OS X 10.5.8 to sync with my new ipod...any suggestions?

You need to upgrade the computer's OS. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it can't sync that device.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.
Some device models require Mac OS X 10.7.5 to sync.

No, you have to send the iPod into Apple in exchange for a 6G Nano. See this page for more information.

  • My 40 gb iPod doesnt show any text on the screen

My 40 gb iPod doesnt show any text on the screen. The screen will light up and there is an audible clicking noise when using the navigation wheel. Hooked up to my iTunes the iPod also no longer shows up. Ive tried reseting with no luck. Any help is appreciated.

If a restore of the iPod in iTunes does not resolve the issue, it's likely that your iPod's screen will need to be replaced.

  • Resetting an ipod without any battery life

First, here's what I think is wrong with my Ipod. It's obviously frozen and needs to be reset. However, I honestly think it has completely drained all battery life and that is why I'm unable to reset it. Because it's locked I'm unable to charge it via computer or a/c adapter. The battery is fine though, it wasn't rapidly losing charge when it was working or anything like that. Is there any other solution to this problem besides paying for battery replacement repair?
Here's why I think this is my problem. I had left my ipod on accidentally. When I went to use it again I saw the battery was dead. I hit menu and ok simultaneously to start it up. The screen lit up and all that, and I immediately plugged it into my usb port. Nothing happened on my computer, and it didn't show up under my "safely remove hardware" icon. ITunes won't recognize it, neither will my computer. I have since tried resetting it again to no avail. I have tried different charging cables, different power sources, etc.
Oh and it's a 2nd gen ipod nano.

I'm having the same problem with my 3rd gen. ipod. I don'nt know what to do either.

  • My brand-new iPod touch (5th Gen) battery takes a very long time to fully charge, even while not in use. Why is this and what should I do?

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways, like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.

It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.
