New Ipod - error message

Just got my ipod yesterday and I think I corrupted the hard drive! I hope not but when it's unplugged from the computer It says on the screen "Connect to your computer and use Itunes to restore. It isn't showing in Itunes. I tried to use the updater but it just hangs on the do not disconnect screen and the computer sceeen for updater also hangs up.
When I check it out in "My Computer" it first says there's no disk and then a box comes up saying that the drive is not formatted do you want to format now? I have said no because I am trying to run it on a PC not on a Mac. Maybe I can reformat it in windows. Any advice on this point? I am fairly comfortable with computers and regularly defrag and disk check. I really want to reformat the ipod but just not sure if that is a good idea on a windows machine.
I have tried uninstalling the ipod program, restarting the computer and start over but I get the same thing happening. I'm getting very annoyed and have to keep rem inding myself it's just a machine. I was up til all hours last nite trying to get it to work and restarting my computer often. I also dodwnloaded the lastest version of updater (which is the same as the one I have on cd)from the website and got the same problem.
I even restored my computer to the day before I started all this and reinstalled the program, etc. -- Same problem.
Can anybody please help me? I ready to return it!

When you plug in the iPod does it show up in iTunes before you get the message about needing iTunes7? Or do you get that message after plugging it in before it shows up in iTunes?

  • New IPOD - error message trying to use with itunes

    Hi
Please can someone help. I just bought an IPod with Video but I cant even get any of the songs in my itunes library synched onto it. When I click on autosync I get the following error message
The IPOD "IPOD" cannot be used because it requires itunes version 7 or later.
It then tells me to go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version or itunes or install it from the CD that came with my ipod.
I have been back to the website and have tried reinstalling Itunes 7.02 but I still get the error message. When I right click on the autosynch button it tells me Internet explorer has encountered a problem and has to close...My Ipod was bought brand new via Amazon and didnt come with any disk....
I've followed the scant instructions and Im pretty computer literate so I dont know whats going on here but I dont seem to be able to get past this basic stage . Meanwhile my ipod is stuck on Do not Disconnect. What do I do. ? I seem to have itunes all set up and my WMA existing files converted and visible in my library. I even bought a new song to see if I could sync that but I get the same error message.. Please help....

When you plug in the iPod does it show up in iTunes before you get the message about needing iTunes7? Or do you get that message after plugging it in before it shows up in iTunes?

  • Help syncing my new ipod - error message - please help

Hi I am needing advice and help.
I have a full library full of songs. I had always been able to sync my old ipod with all my library songs.
I have just purchased a new ipod and tried to plug in the new ipod to load all my library songs on to my new ipod, but only a few artists are getting loaded - only artists that start with a & b is going across. I get an error message when trying to sync the songs on to my new ipod.
The message I get 'attempting to copy to disk'new ipod' failed. An unknown error occured(-69)'
I am wondering step by step and in detail how I can make sure that all my songs from the library are on my new ipod. only a few artists are transferring across.
The thing is my old ipod when syncing is fine and all songs go across! no problem at all. I still have to charge the old ipod as its still in use and it is the same ipod that of my new ipod - the 30gb video 5th generation.
It is very fustrating as I have given my partner the other ipod so they still have full songs when they plug in to sync and when I plug in to sync I only get a & b only, we both use the same computer, same model ipod, same library and my ipod doesnt sync so i dont know why?
Please please help. I really need very detailed and step by step instructions of how to sync the new ipod and make sure all the songs of my library are on my new ipod.
I look forward to hearing from all you soon. Please help! - desperate!!!

  • Sad faced Ipod error message (click wheel ipod classic)

I've had the sad faced ipod error message with my ipod before and forcing into disk mode has always solved it before.
It's not showing up in itunes or my computer when I connect it to my laptop.
I have tried forcing it into disk mode time and time again and about one time out 40 it will go into disk mode. The problem comes when I then plug into the computer to restore it. It will start telling me do not disconnect then give me the error message of a battery with little power left.
It is definatly charged because I have been trying to get it into disk mode all day and on the occasions I've managed to get there it will tell me i have 3quarters or so battery remaining. However when I am plugging it into the docking station it isnt coming up to say its charging it just goes over and over with the apple logo then the sad faced ipod message.
I have tried 4 different usb cables and 2 different chargers.
Its driving me mad and any help would be greatly appreciated. I dont want my ipod to be dead.

I have been using that page, I was hoping that as id managed to get it into disk mode a few times that it might not be a harware issue.
Its about 2 years out of warrenty so a service will probably cost the same as a new one

  • ITunes unable to recognize iPod, error message along the lines if "iTunes has detected an iPod but unable to recognise" I have followed all the trouble shooting tips and am still stuck? I am now being told by a friend I need a link sent to me to fix this

    Hi,
I am need of help! I have had this issue for a while now and it's becoming frustrating.
My iTunes installed on my HP Windows 8 Netbook is unable to recognize my iPod, the error message along the lines of "iTunes has detected an iPod but unable to recognise"
I have followed all the trouble shooting tips and am still stuck? I am now being told by a friend I need a link sent to me to fix this??
Someone please help me fix this problem.
    Many thanks.
    Matt.

    Hi
So just close iTunes and re-open iTunes thats it and that worked for you?
When you say reset your settings do you mean to factory settings? As my iPod was swapped at the store for a new one and the problem is still there...
    Thanks.

  • Corrupted ipod error message

I've had my ipod for about 3 years, and I haven't really had any problems. Knock on wood.
I downloaded the newer version of itunes, and synced my ipod to it. Now my ipod has no music in it, and there is an error message that pops up when I plug it in that says my ipod is corrupted.
Is that bad? Also, what can I do to fix it?

This link did not fix my problem. I have the same problem ( to be called the Corrupted, restore loop)and spent 2 hours on with a product specialist, level two support and they could not fix it. They point the blame on my laptop. But my laptop works fine. any suggestions on how to fix this would be great

  • 5G ipod error message

Just today my computer sent a message that it could not read my Ipod and recommended I return it to factory specifications--I went through the "5 Rs" Lastly, during the restore process I got "ipod manager internal error" message and would not let me complete the restore. The Ipod is still under warranty. What is the best course of action. If I get a new I pod, will I be able to transfer my music onto it? Any advice would be helpful
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I don't think you need your iPod serviced quite yet.
    Take a look at this...
iPod Updater for Windows: "Internal manager error" occurs when restoring or updating iPod
Also, as long as all the music is on your computer, you will be fine.

  • Itunes/ipod error message puzzler

When I connect my ipod and launch itunes I get an error message saying my ipod is linked to another library (eh?) and would I like to replace the contents of my ipod with the new library (which is empty)All the songs on my ipod show up in the song list when it's connected but they're greyed out and can't be selected or played etc. Everything was working fine then this. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and I've tried dragging the itunes folder from My Music into the library in the source browser-no joy there. I first noticed the problem after downloading an update for itunes, but I've since uninstalled that and gone back to the original bundled version....anyone help please?

Well, first I'd update to the latest edition of iTunes (again). Might as well.
Then just drag the folder with all of your tunes into the program's main window. iTUnes should then show all of your music.
    Now this is important:
Confirm that iTunes has all of your music. The next step is irreversible!
Once the music in iTunes, plug the iPod in. It'll ask you about replacing its contents with iTunes', which should no longer bother you. Hit Yes.

  • IPod error message when plugged into Macbook Pro

My iPod will charge to my Macbook Pro for a moment or so then I get an error message stating that "This device or accessory is not supported..yadda yadda yadda" I have never had this happen in the past. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    T4,
Then the pods that you have seem not to electrically match with your Mac, as the others that you tried seemed ok, am I right in this understanding?
On the iPhone it has a very unique plug configuration that seems to set specifically for the iPhone, because it is a 4 conductor connector (one is for the microphone) that may make other pods not work properly. (yes this is an Apple thing, AAAAARRRRGGGG!!!!)
But that would then confirm that there is not anything wrong with your Mac, as those Apple pods are for the iPhone, I guess both good and bad news.
I don't use my iPhone to listen to music, nor do I use pods either, unless the artist I am working with is, then I use the same make and model so I can "hear what they hear".
I do pro audio for a living and I can understand this "crosstalk issue with the 4th connector"
But without getting too technical,  it would seem your Mac is just fine, which is a good thing.
I would think that the newer Macs will be more compatible with the Apple iPhone pods, but they all seem to have their issues with the switching system...for years now!
Hope this helps you understand this "FRUIT FLY"
My suggestion is to use "regular headphones/ear pods with your Mac and the Apple iPhone pods with the phone. )I only have ever used the iPhone pods with the iPhone when I'm driving, and with only the iPhone. I have much better sounding pods/phones that I use to "ACTUALLY' listen to music with....and it a'int MP3/4
    Peace SJP

  • IPod error message when loading songs

When trying to upload songs to my new 20Gb iPod I get the following error message after it loads anywhere from 199Mb to 246MB worth of MP3s: Attempting to copy to the disk "OWNER'S IPO" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
Does anyone have a solution for this as I really would like to listen to more then just 27 songs. It tells me that I still have 18.29GB free space.

  • Won't download new software, Error message

I have just gotten a new shuffle. I created a playlist, and set the preferences, and everything looks like it's working (songs are on it, as far as iTunes knows). Before I changed the preferences, iTunes wanted me to download new software, but this message would keep coming up:
"An error occurred updating or restoring iPod. Disconnect iPod, reconnect and then try restoring again. If that does not work, go to http://www.apple.com/support/ipod".
Well, I tried again, and no success. I then tried to avoid it and clicked cancel the next time I connected it. iTunes then prompted me with a message following me to the ipod software update page (I already have the most recent one). I ejected it, and tried playing songs. The ipod shuffle error message came up (green, red, green, red).
How do I update in this situation? Can I get the shuffle to play? Help me, please! Thanks.

  • PC does not recognize Ipod - Can't mount IPOD error message

    Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone experienced the same problem with their Ipod as I have. I have tried to play songs on my Ipod through the shuffle songs function but it does not work. The Ipod tries to play one song; however, it will not play it and then it will continue to the next which won't play either and this continues until I just shut off my Ipod. I have tried resetting it and also reinstalling Itunes but it does not help the problem.
A second problem is that my Windows PC does not recognize my Ipod when I plug it in. I have tried so many things to try and solve this including trying to restore my IPOD using the updater but when I keep getting the error message "Can't mount IPOD".
If anyone knows what I can do to try to fix this I am greatly in your debt!
    Thanks!

I had the same problem. Now I have many new ones. Here goes the chain of events 1st iPod did the same exact thing:
    1. Was going along my marry way listening to music
    2. Music stops playing
    3. I look to find my iPod cycling throughe very song but playing none... for an hour.
    4. I turn it off.
    5. I get home to attempt to restore it but when I plug it up to the computer, it is not recognized, cannot mount, ect.
    6. I continue trying to find a way, then it stops going to the "Do Not Disconnect" screen.
    7. Well I try it later on today, like 20 mins ago and it does it! Yay! but then it resets itself and it now rests on the apple logo and Windows does not recognize the USB device.
Oh yeah, did I mention I made the trade and got this one SATURDAY. Yeah so it's already broken.
    any suggestions?

  • Windows Vista: Ipod Error Message, no longer read by PCs

    Hello,
I have a 5th generation black ipod video with 30GB of memory.
The other day I hooked it up to my laptop (Toshiba, 4 months old) that it's been functioning on with no problems whatsoever. This weird error message flashed twice about it not being able to sync because of some software problem.
Eversince then, the only thing I can charge my ipod on is the family treadmill in the basement (~_~) as no other computer in the house recognizes it. I can't even charge it through the wall sockets, either.
I have changed the ipod cord, still no luck. I've also reset the device about 3 or 4 times and uninstalled, restarted the laptop then reinstalled itunes. I would like to reset it back to factory settings but that's impossible as computers/laptops don't pick it up. I live very far from a Mac store...
What's a girl to do? I can't live without my Busta Rhymes and Wu-Tang Clan!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
