New Ipod nano not recognized by my computer, asking for disk!!`

I bought my husband a new nano for Father's Day. I am having serious problems installing it through itunes. We have two other nanos that gave us no problem. Our computer keeps saying to put in the CD, and when I check the device manager under my computer, it says the driver is missing for this ipod. I would appreciate any computer savvy help with how to remedy this problem. Thanks

I supposed you have downloaded and installed iTunes 7 on your PC.
It can be either a problem of your PC or the iPod, let have a prove.
Try to find any computer (of course with iTunes preinstalled), if your iPod showed up there, then it is a problem on your computer, read this

If your iPod does not show on any computer, then bring it back to the shop

• Ipod Nano not recognized on my computer

My iPod Nano doesn't show up on My Computer or in the ITunes store under devices.
A popup recommends reconnecting the device but it does not help. It then says to uninstall and reinstall Itunes.
This device used to be recognized on a different pc but we changed out pcs. Is a Nano only supposed to be recognized on only one Pc?

Try one or more of the following
> Restart your computer
> Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes - Windows XP | Windows Vista or 7 | Mac OS X
> Reset iPod (will not delete everything)
> Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista or 7) and see if iDevice shows
> Restore iPod (will delete everything)
> Make sure iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up to date

• New ipod video not recognized by my computer at all

i have an ipod mini and itunes on my windows xp computer. i just bought the new ipod video that it is not recognized by my computer at all. i plug it in and the entire computer freezes. if i plug in my mini everything works fine.
i have tried updating/uninstalling my new ipod video. i am worried that if i uninstall itunes that i will lose my purchased music.
does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do? does anyone have the same problem as me? i really want to start using my new ipod help please.

I assume you have installed the iPod driver, before connecting the 5G iPod. It is possible the device driver for the mini is different, and thus confusing your computer. The iPod driver is on the CD that came with your 5G iPod (iPod with Video)

• IPod Nano Not Recognized by any Computer

Hi. I found an iPod Nano about a month ago. And I plugged it in to my computer and nothing, the only thing it does is it Starts to charge for about 5 seconds...then immediately stops...What I don't understand is that my iPod Shuffle works perfectly, I plug it in, then iTunes pops up. But I have tried this iPod Nano on about 5 different computers, with iTunes and nothing. I have a Windows Vista, with iTunes ver. 8.0.1 the newest. Can anyone help please?

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer.

• Brand new iPod Touch - not recognized by my computer or iTunes

I just purchased an iPod Touch today and it isn't showing up in My Computer or iTunes. My USB port is working because it recognizes other devises. I checked my USB port in Device Manager and it says Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller. I even uninstalled iTunes and installed it again. I'm just sick ... I have read everything I can find that might work, but nothing does.
If anyone has a suggestion for me, I would really appreciate it.
Martha

Thanks, Alex. The link you gave me says that there should be a Apple device listed with my USB's and it is not. I did find the driver USBAAPL.SYS in the Windows\System32 folder\drivers. Should it be somewhere else to work??? The Mobile Device Service is there and is started. I am completely iPod ignorant, but I did have a shuffle sometime back that worked just fine.
I appreciate your help. If you have any other advice, I would appreciate it.

• New iPod nano not recognized by itunes, troubleshooting steps no help. Ideas?

Title pretty much says it all . . . have reinstalled S/W several times, followed troubleshootign steps, etc. No joy. Please help!

Hello,
The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...
<a href="How to put your iPod into disk mode
Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?
Have you checked this link out?:
iPod doesn't charge correctly
Does your iPod appear in "My Computer"? If so...
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
If not...
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes
Post back on what happens when you try these things out. I hope this helps!

• Help.. brand new Ipod 80gb not being recognised by Computer or itunes

Replaced a ipod mini that was stolen from my house with a brand new 80gb ipod. Plugged it into the same computer that had been used successfully with the mini and the ipod will not be seen by either the computer or itunes. It will charge through the usb post no problem but when you plug it in it originally came up with the windows new hardware wizard, as apple have for some misguided reason stopped supplying CD's, the wizard can not find the correct driver, and fails to install. When Itunes is running nothing appears. I have been through the 5 R's, or should I say 4 r's as the fifth rely's on itunes recognizing the ipod before you can restore, countless time, so please unless you are sure don't ask me to click the hold button on and off yet again.
Plugged the ipod into an old laptop with USB 1.0 ports and the ipod was recognized which would suggest it is my main comp's usb ports that are at fault, but as two previous ipod mini's worked without fault I find this hard to believe. I think if only I had the correct driver to install I could solve this problem easily. Can anyone send me the correct driver for an 80gb ipod.
It hopefully goes without saying that I have downloaded the latest itunes software and gone through all the post's on the this site. I thought I'd cracked it with the UBSSORT file post but it was not to be....to tell you the truth if it's this complicated I'd rather send it back and buy a sony mp3 or even an ipod nano. At my wits end so please help Obi one, your my only hope

Big Big thank you to Varun at Apple Service & Support e-mailed me the following article and after following the instructions, I'm up and running. Thank you ......

my ipod is not recognized by my computer?

I realize this question is six months old, but just in case this helps someone. My PC suddenly decided not to recognize my IPod. I jumped through all the hoops for 24 hours trying all the suggestions and then just sat and took inventory of everything notable that was different from the last time I had synched it (a year earlier). I'd finally freed myself of Norton and installed Avast and several sites mentioned that as a possibility but no. In the end it was the new HP Officejet Pro 8600 software. I did a custom install and opted for the USB rather than wireless hookup. First off it took my old Canon scanner hostage and choked it into retirement. Then it started fondling Photoshop and searching for images in every file it could access. But the best trick was that it will just not let you synch your IPod for love nor money. Now I am a dinosaur and still use XP but I'm pretty sure the same thing happens with Windows 7. Fortunately, the fix is easy enough ***doink***, yank the printer's USB cable out of your PC and everything is fine.
Just posted this in the hope I can save somebody else a day's worth of cursing and hair tearing...PB
