New iPod/Old Computer

I'm a newbie to all of this...I have a new iPod 80G Video that I can not sync on my old computer. I had a 4g mini that I used and recently upgraded. When I first plugged in the new 80G to my computer iTunes goes through the process of initializing and showing the new iPod under "devices," and it looks like it has all of the music synced but it does not. There is nothing on the new iPod. Is there some process I need to go through to get this to work?

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.

  • My new and old computer won't reconize my ipod

I got instructions off apple.com on how to move my itunes library from my old computer to my new one. I followed every step. I have mini4G and didn't have enough space needed to transfer my music and music files so I did what the instructions told me to. I hadjust got done downloading the files to my Ipod and was going to start the procese on my new computer which I had already installed itunes 7.0 and hooked my ipod up to my computer followed the next couple off steps( at this time it reconized my Ipod) then did the reset step and wam! No more Ipod! My old or new computer can't reconize my Ipod anymore! How could this be? How do I get my Ipod back . now all it will do now is charge... Could someone please help me? I've only had it for a year. If I'd know this would happen I would just put all my cd's and puchased songs on manually. It would have took a long time but at least this wouldn't have happend.

  • Putting new ipod onto computer that has old ipod softwear already installed

i got a new 30gb video ipod that i haven't installed onto my computer yet, but i do already have a 20gb 4th gen ipod installed on it. i am wondering what i have to do to install the new one...will it erase the songs in my itunes? do i need to uninstall all the things from my old ipod?? please help, and thanks in advance.
    -keely

I have the same setup as keely (loading a new 30gb 5th gen iPod on to a machine that has a 4th gen iPod and iTunes already installed). I updated iTunes, plugged in my new iPod, and it worked great! However, now the old iPod is no longer recognized by iTunes when it is plugged in. This wasn't remedied by using a different USB cable, by restarting the computer, or by changing user accounts. Could this be because of the new iTunes? Or my new iPod? Anybody have an idea? Thanks so much.

  • New ipod - old library

I just downloaded itunes onto my laptop for my new ipod. I thought I deleted all previous references to my son's ipod - which he used to use on this computer, but when I downloaded itunes it automatically pulled up my son's library, which of course I don't want. How do I get my computer - or itunes - to recognize me as a new library?

Hi--I just got a new nano, and already have an old iPOD. The old iPOD is set up on my PC. I'm wondering a few things. My PC has a big library that I would like onto the nano. 1) Is it possible to get my library from my PC onto the nano? 2) Is it possible to then take that library and put it on my G4 that already has a small library on it of different songs? Bottomline, what is the best way to get my old library from my PC and start anew on my G4 with a nano?
    Thanks for your time.

  • Sync new ipod to computer

What do I do when I get my new ipod and connect it to my itunes without it erasing everything in my library?  It's happened to me before and I don't want it to happen again.

  • Installing software from new to old computer

If I buy a new mac with Tiger, can I use the CDs provided to instal it on my old computer (that has panther on it) or do I need to buy it separately?
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The Tiger install package that ships with a new Mac purchase is model and build specific and cannot be used to install Tiger on another Mac. Even if attempted on the same Mac model, the model build must be identical to the model/build the install package was shipped with and intended for. Even if possible and as previously provided, it would be a violation of the single user license agreement and against the law to install and use a copy of the OS and included software on more than one Mac at a time.
If you want to install Tiger on your old Mac, you need to purchase a Tiger retail install package which can be used to install Tiger on a single Mac model that meets the minimum system requirements.

Having trouble syncing music videos and playlists to my new iPod classic, already have an iTunes account, have an iPod nano, what am i doing wrong?

You may want to check ur settings. when you plug in ur ipod make sure it is highlighted then at the top of the page you will see tabs Summary Music Podcast Info....click on the MUSIC tab...in that box there will be 2 options:
    Sync Music
         Entire Music Library
Selected playlist, artist, albums, and genres
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF ENTIRE MUSIC LIBRARY
I hope this works....Let me know

  • New ipod, old laptop

I recently sent away my ipod for repair and was sent a new one as they couldn't fix it. I now have a new ipod which presumably will have to be connected to my itunes. How do I connect my ipod without wiping my itunes? I want to be able to transfer the songs from itunes to my new ipod.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First make sure your iPod is fully charged.
Run the iPod software updater in Start -> Programs -> iPod, and connect the iPod when told. Choose to restore.

  • New iPod, old playlist.

I just replaced my older 20gb iPod for the new 5th Gen. Video, and now I have to reinstall iTunes! Porblem is, to reinstall, I have to delete the first. Does this mean my ENTIRE playlist will go away? Because I've got over $400 in iTunes songs and albums along with my entire cd collection, and if I loose that, I won't cope very well.

You could just reinstall the new one over the old one. Even if you have to uninstall and reinstall you wont loose anything(except playlist). I am not sure about your ratings and playcount. But you will be able to play all protected songs since your computer is already authorized
