New iPod to new computer with another iPod already in iTunes

My iPod Video was originally loaded to my laptop and I backed up everything to an external hard drive. That iPod was stolen. I just purchased an iTouch and want to keep the iTunes on my desktop computer and the laptop. However, my husband also has an iPod in the desktop's iTunes. I created a Playlist Folder with my name to distinguish between the music settings. How do I move the music from my hard drive to my new playlist without erasing my husband's music?

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • I tried to authorize a new computer with windows 8. Per iTunes Help, there should be an "authorize computer" section on the iTunes store menu. I only have two computers authorized so I know another one is possible. Suggestions?

I tried to authorize a new computer with Windows 8 for my iTunes acct.  Per iTunes Help, there is an "authorize computer" prompt in the menu selection on iTunes store website. I can find no such listing.  I have two computers linked to my account so I know that adding another one would be ok.  Any suggestions?

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • I want new computer with mountain lion already installed.

I want to buy new MacBook air with Mountain Lion already installed.  Currently not available at store and can't be guaranteed on line.  How long should I wait?

Welcome to the Support Communities. It's unlikely that anyone here knows how long it will be until Macs with Mountain Lion installed appear in the stores near you. If you prefer not to wait, consider buying a MacBook Air now and upgrade to Mountain Lion for free — see under "Qualifying purchases on or after July 26, 2012" here:

  • Why won't my brand new computer with windows 8.1 download itunes

fed up with issues between Apple and Microsoft.  My brand new Windows 8.1 notebook (replacing a trusty windows 7 netbook) doesn't allow me to download itunes.  Windows 7 managed without problem.  I am not particularly geek minded so can anyone tell me in simple words, how to down load itunes to Windows 8 and get my ipod working again please.  Thanks

  • Transferring itunes to another computer with another account already on it

    Hi all,
So I know this has probably been asked hundreds of times but I thought that I wanted to get a personal response to my situation.
Basically, the current setup for my wife and I is that we both have separate windows laptops, with itunes and separate itunes accounts on. However, we are getting rid of my wifes laptop and she is getting an iPad for what little 'work' she uses the laptop for, and then we have always got the one laptop anyway. However, we waqnt to keep separate Itunes accounts as her taste in music is not like mine, and I don't want namby pamby pop music on my account at the risk of accidently loading it on my iPod!
Therefore, what I want to know is:
    1) How can I remove all of the music from the wifes laptop and transfer it on to my laptop, but wanting to keep it in a separate iTunes Music folder,
    and
    2) Is it possible to have one iTunes on the computer but have different accounts on it?
I am hoping that it is possible for this so that if I open up itunes and access my account it ony shows my music, and visa versa.
Many thanks in advance for any responses and help that you can give,
    Regards,
    Richard

  • Setting up new computer with existing library

Just got a new computer with Vista. Have current iTunes library on an external HD. (old computer running XP) Can I just plug the HD in and have all my playlists and settings? Or could someone point me where to find info to set this up? We've got 3 iPods running on this library and am hoping this is easy.

See this recent discussion where I think I cover everything that may also apply to your situation as well. Post back with any questions...

  • I have a new computer and i have already authorized it, where is my playlist and purchases?

I just got a new computer. I have already downloaded itunes and authorized my computer. I can not find my prevoious playlist or past purchases.

They are on your old computer where you left them...
If you'd bought into iCloud already then you could download the songs from iTunes, but I guess if you had you'd know that. (Must find out if it stores your playlists too.)
If you still have the old computer with the files or if they are on an iDevice I can give you tips to transfer them. You can also download your previous iTunes purchases by going into the iTunes Store and then Purchase History.

  • I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.

I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.
I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Connecting Ipod to new computer with Music stored on a network drive

So, a client of mine purchased a new laptop, and when syncing the ipod to the new computer with songs added to the new library, it says that the sync was successful, but the songs are not synced to the ipod. It syncs the time and date, but not the music. It will still sync properly on the old laptop. The ipod has been reset to factory settings and completely blank, and the songs still will not sync. I have contacted apple, and the only thing they can suggest is that there is a conflict with the drive letters since the music is located on a virtual network drive and windows does not take virtual drives into account when assigning drive letters to divices. I have not been able to verify this, but I will be going back to do some testing in the next couple days. Any information you may have to help would be appreciated! If I think of anything else I forgot I will come back and make another post. Thanks in advance.

My ipod (nano, 6th generation) won't sync to a new computer with different stuff on it. • How can I sync my ipod 6g. to a new computer with out losing all the info

My computer is starting to fail so I bought a new one. How do I sync my ipods they are 6 gen to the new computer with out losing all the data that is on the ipod?

Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you.

  • HT5577 When I bought a new computer with Windows8.1, iTunes wouldn't accept my old ID and password, so I set up a new ID and password.  Now I can't locate or sync my old library of music onto my iPOD.  Any ideas?

when I bought a new computer with Windows8.1, iTunes wouldn't accept my old ID and password.  After entering a new ID and password I got in, but now I can't sync the music that was in my original library.  When I try to sync a message says that music will be removed from "other" libraries, so I know they're out there somewhere.  Just can't get to them.  Any ideas?

    - Is the computer authorized for the iTunes account(s) used on the iPod?
    - Are you syncing or manually managing music?
    - In iTunes if you go to Preferences and then go to the Devices tab, what date is show for the iPod backup? Is if before you switched computers?
    - Your iPod sees the new computer as a new library/computer and you can only sync to one library.  You need to restore you iPod from a backup.  If that bacup is hosw in Preferences, restore from that backup.
    - If the backup is after you switched computers, you have two options:
--- Try to make a backup by right clicking on the iPd under Devices in iTunes and selecting backup.
--- If you can't make a backu, can you get one from the backup of your old computer.  It is located here and yu may have to have show hidden files turned on.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:
