New ipod touch connected to internet but wont open safari

i got a new ipod touch this morning, it says its connected to my wifi, but when i go to open youtube, or safari it wont load. it sits there spinning for about 5 minutes, than i get an error message saying the server stopped responding, i have reset my ipod many times but still nothing.. any ideas?

Lets start with your problem and hopefully the solution will fix everyone else at the same time.
Since you think you are connected to your network, tap Settings > WiFi and then the little blu > next to the network name with the checkmark next to it.
Under normal circumstances, you will have an IP address, Subnet Mask, Router IP, and DNS IPs. I think you are going to see an IP address that starts with 169.x, an incomplete subnet mask, and no router or DNS IP addresses.
Here's a few things that can cause this to happen:
- Use of WEP encryption. You will either need to reset your password to 5 characters (48 bit), 13 characters (128 bit) or use the hex code generated by your router for your current password in place of the actual password. All that, and still really poor security. I suggest you change your encryption to WPA2.
- Old router firmware. Your router uses something called DHCP to generate an IP address for the device. iPod 3.x firmware doesn't like out of date DHCP firmware and will not get an IP address from your router. Just download and install the latest router firmware from your router maker's website.

I bought a brand new iPod touch 2nd gen two days ago and as I was very excited to plug it into my computer, sadly, nothing happened. iTunes recognizes the device and can be seen under Devices, but NOTHING happens and there are no other functions to click on at all. I just purchased an I pod touch w/ the software upgrade included, but the touch will not connect to a web browser through safari, youtube, or any internet based channels. I use a belkin router which is showing up under the settings in my iPod Touch. The connection is a 15meg DL and 1 meg UL so I don't believe that speed would be a problem. Please Help

Despite the WiFi connection sign you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address when the iPod requested it. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
It also could be due to an Apple server problem. and yu will just have to wait and try again.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Notebook and not getting to the Internet. First try just to reset the router. Unplug from the power wait a few moments and plug back in.
Can get to safe mode with command prompt? F11 upon startup choose safe mode with Networking.
Can you get to the Internet in safe mode?
Please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

yours is likely one that was produced before October, when the new iOS was introduced. If you hook it up to iTunes, it should tell you that you have an update available. Update to the newest operating system, and you should have Messages available.

Brand new Ipod touch useless within 10 minutes of opening it.

So I have a brand new Ipod touch that I bought today and took home. I opened it connected it to itunes and everything was fine so I pressed the update button and something happened. I don't know what happened and itunes didn't recognise the touch any more. I unplugged ipod touch and every time I turn it on it shows the itunes and usb. Every time I plug it in it asks for apple mobile device (something mode). Itunes won't recognise it and ipod touch worthless.
I tried looking for the driver in common files and it just says it can't find it.

You can do several things.
1) You can call Apple support and they will help you through it.
2) You can go to the top of this screen, click "Support", then type "apple mobile device" or whatever your error is, into the search support bar. If you do this you will get several articles designed to help through several situations.
3) You could look at the manual and see what it says.

Ok, so my ipod youch says it's connected to the wifi but when i try to get on the internet it says it can't connect to the server. I've looked and there's alot of answers but they're all soooooooooooooo complicated. I'm like 14, so whoever can answer this, please use small words.
I've noticed in alot of the answers they talk about your IP adress, if it's any consilation mine starts with 169. No matter where I go, if it's at home, or at starbucks or a hotel.

Have you tried restoring your iPod touch in iTunes?
You may just be trying to connect to "Printer Networks" that allow a company/residence to print something from their printer wirelessly, it would appear on your iPod touch just about the same as any other network, but you wouldn't be able to use internet while connected to that network...
If you are talking about "free wifi" in a Cafe, like Starbucks, you will usually need to open Safari. A Page will load and tell you how to connect to their internet, whether it's by paying, or just agreeing to their terms...
Like, I said, if that isn't the problem, try restoring your iPod touch in iTunes...

Problem with new IPod Touch - connecting to computer

Just bought an IPod touch 2nd generation and plugged it into my computer to charge and to set up. I got a "found new hardware-Ipod" message and then the "found new hardware wizard" screen came up asking me for an installation CD or floppy to install software. I already have iTunes installed (the newest version) as have used it before with an Ipod nano. I have tried plugging the ipod into different USB ports on the computer but no avail.
Could anyone help me with this problem as am desperate to use my new Touch?

All was well with my 2nd Generation Itouch until I downloaded Itunes 8.2. then ol boy what problems I have had! As follows:
1) Itunes cannot detect my device, therefore, no syncing is possible
2) Cannot connect to the Itunes Store....error indicates I have problems with my network connection (error code 3221), although I am connected and I have not previously had a problem.
I have searched for possible resolutions and have:
(a) Uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled .... NO GOOD
(b) Reset the network settings on the Itouch .... NO GOOD
(c) Reset all settings ... NO GOOD
(d) Ensured that the Apple mobile device option are okay
etc etc. In fact, I have done everything possible that has been indicated on the various websites. I should confirm that my computer recognises my Itouch BEFORE I access Itunes.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect OK before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Imac connects to internet but wont load then drops connection

I bought my first mac a couple of months ago with an imac 21.5 i5. I love the os and im glad i made the swithc BUT, it was slightly slower than my very cheap laptop on the internet and slower than all other computers in my house and iphone at oading web pages, it often struggled to load a page, said unable to load ect but then would work fine for the past 2 days it has connected to the internet but will NOT load a page, or it starts to then stops, then wont reload, it drops wifi then picks it back up. all other computers such as the one im typing from work fine.
I am very dissapointed with the mac now and would seriously think twice about buying another, the store i bought i from was no help, i cant believe apple dont have support for products inder warranty. even working it is slower than my laptop that cost 20% of the price. I own a company tha relies heavily on the internet and this being my business computer has been a massive blow for me. I have changed nothing on the computer since getting it, no system preference changes or changed router ect and i have no clue what this could be. I could inderstand if it wasnt picking up with internet connection but it is, It is 5 feet from the router.
If i cant sort this it will be back to pc for me, i cant afford to have this happen to me again and ruin a couple of days of work. all in all I have lost a lot of faith in this brand.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
