New iPod touch - still no GPS why?

Am I alone in being disappointed that there is no GPS built into the new iPod touch?
It would seem a simple thing to add and hugely advance the desirability of the iPod touch - at least as far as I am concerned.
If it had GPS I would buy it today, as it is I will wait a bit longer.
Looks like the marketing guys thought it might steal too many sales from the iPhone....unless someone can come up with a better reason.

I know the GPS chip is a power hog but I was going to Purchase the I Pod touch for hiking and hunting just for the GPS chip I did not believe apple would produce the product without one. Total Let down I have an outdated GPS that uses the entire battery life of two AA batteries before telling you where you are I use it for camping and carry many AA just encase i get lost and a camera Thought the Ipod touch would be an answer for both. Total let down Apple. I know some people are squimish about the GPS chips being tracked but even some watches have them in them now so you are tracked anyway what does it matter. Your phone has one your car has one if it is newer than the 1980 so what and who cares who ever is collecting all the information hope their are overwhelmed with it which they are lol.

Are you using an Apple charger? If not, the iPod may say it isn't charging with some brands, when actually it is just charging very slowly.

My brand-new iPod touch (5th Gen) battery takes a very long time to fully charge, even while not in use. Why is this and what should I do?

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways,like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.

Just can't seem to get it to generate an IP. Any solutions other than turning it on and off again? Not a Merry Christmas morning.

Ok, so, a couple of things: Denisefromwaleska and I have the exact same size/type/color iPod. Now wishing I'd bought the black one maybe...
Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel. Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem. Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet. Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod.

You did install the latest iTunes (10.5) right? If the problem was that iTunes does not see the iPod try:

Why will my brand new iPod touch allow me to purchase songs but not download them?

Can someone tell me why my new iPod touch is allowing me to buy songs but not downloading the songs currently being purchased? The new songs actually show up on my iPad but not my iPod which is the device they were purchased on.

Why does my 3rd Gen iPod Touch still play through the speaker when I plug my headphones in?

When I plug my headphones into my iPod, it plays through them, but it also continues to play through the built in speaker. Does anyone know how this can be fixed? Thanks

- next, to rule out a software probem:

- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. It is liklely a problem with the headphone jack i the iPod. There are third-party places that will replace he jack.

Why can't I view videos in landscape mode on my new Ipod Touch 5?

Why can't I view music videos in landscape mode on my new Ipod Touch 5? I was able to with my first generation Ipod Touch.
I hate viewing a small version of the video. If there aren't any fixes to the issue, there is no point in purchasing music videos. Clicking the screenlock icon doesn't work. It just allows you to view the small video in any mode instead of seeing album covers.

I got it on Christmas December 25, 2013. iTunes is working fine up until yesterday(December 27, 2013) Every time I try to open iTunes it says feature is no supported and then under that it says this feature is no longer supported and then has an okay button. I am die-hard fan of Apple products. Have recently bought iPod Touch 4th Gen. But failed to understand why did Apple ship micless-earphones with new iPod Touch?
iPod Touch 3rd Gen used to have earphone with mic and remote buttons.
I know, new iTouch has inbuilt mic, but since mic & volume controls are missing on earphones, I can't talk wih my handsfree! just because the mic is on iTouch panel.

I suspect in this case the problem is caused by your library and device having downloaded independent copies of the media, so that when the library connects to the device it copies over your purchases not realizing they are already in the library.
When deduping use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
