New iPod touch stopped working (recovery mode)

Hi!
I bought a 8 GB iPod Touch 2 weeks ago. It worked fine until today. I left US yesterday and arrived in Europe today.
After the flight I tried to switch on my iPod and its started in recovery mode.
iTunes said I need to restore and upgrade the iPod.
The restore process starts, an Apple logo appears on the screen and a progress circle is moving on the bottom, and iTunes sais "Waiting for iPod...", but nothing happens.
What can I do in this case? I already tried it on a different computer with the same result.
The software version was 1.1.3 when I bought it, and iTunes updated it when I attached it to the computer for the first time to 1.1.4.
Thx,
Ders

Now I found the iPod Updater.log file. It sais:

I am trying to set-up my daughter's new iPod touch 5th Gen. When you try to connect to iTunes message says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes". Even when you disconnect from computer it is stuck on screen telling you to connect USB to computer.  Two of her friends also got this iPod for Christmas and are having the same problem...during initial set-up. I've tried the system updates 3 times. iTunes recognizes the device, but the computer is not recognizing it as a drive. I've tried both my Mac and my Windows PC.  I've tried hard resets.  You can't remap the drive because the device doesn't show up. Most of the apple support topics address if iTunes doesn't recognize the device in conjunction with it not being recognized by the drive.  Obviously a problem with the new update because several brand new iPod touches wouldn't be having the same problem. Please help if you've found a solution. Happy New Years!

  • New iPod Touch stuck in recovery mode?

I've watched a ton of videos on how to get out of recovery mode, nothing works.
They said hold the home/power button till it restarts, then after 5 seconds let go of the home button. etc........ However it is going back to the Itunes logo/cable...
    Note-
It wont restore when i try, it says error code (6). or something.
Ive tried to restore on 4 different computers.
Ive re downloaded Itunes, and have the latest version.
    Ive restarted the computer.
So frustrating...... anyone able to resolve this problem???

I'm presuming you first completely uninstalled iTunes and any Apple-related programs from your computer and then restarted before reinstalling iTunes? I had the same issue as you but after making sure I'd completely removed iTunes etc, restarting my PC and then reinstalling iTunes before doing a final restart, I was then able to restore my Touch and get it out of recovery mode ****.
If this still doesn't work and you've tried it on different computers then you may have to phone Apple themselves.

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

  • Getting a new iPod Touch to work

    Hello,
I can't get my new iPod Touch to work, and I would appreciate help!
I bought an iPod Touch today. I turned it on and the Apple logo appeared, and then instructions to connect the iPod to a computer appeared on the screen. The screen was very dark and I could hardly see what was on it. I connected the iPod to my MacBook Pro. iTunes started and said that the connected iPod was in recovery mode and that I needed to restore it to factory settings before I could use it. At this point, the screen of the iPod was blank. iTunes could not detect the version of the software, the iPod's capacity or its serial number. I tried to restore the iPod but iTunes gave me an error message saying that an error happened. At this point, the iPod was completely unresponsive, and the only thing that I could do was restarting by holding the home and power buttons.
The iPod has been connected to my computer for an hour now, and the situation is still the same. Any idea of what's wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

I got mine last week and it started up right away after pressing the home button. then I plugged it into my iMac and set it up. So your situation does not sound normal. I would try:If iPod touch won’t turn on, or if the display freezes or doesn’t respond
Â iPod touch may need charging. See “Charging the Battery” on page 22.
Â Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you
    were using quits.
Â If that doesn’t work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears,
and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple
    logo appears.
Â If that doesn’t work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button
and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • HT201263 When my ipod touch is in recovery mode, when i try to restore it, the itunes page says the website has timed out so it won't recover. Can anyone please help me?

When my ipod touch is in recovery mode (when I try to re-store it) the itunes page sayes the website has been timed out and so it won't re-store. There is a limited time, whilst restoring the ipod, it lasts for approx 5 mins, then asks to start again all over again. Can anyone please help me?

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

  • Ipod touch stuck in recovery mode and will not restore. error code 3194

ipod touch stuck in recovery mode, will not restore and comes up with error code 3194, itunes is up to date, please help

Hi @rchangel - Thanks for the ideas...
Yes - it won't let you install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine.
I've had a cursory look at the SP1 release notes, and couldn't spot anything vital - what critical stuff do you know of in SP1?
I don't want to have to go through all the pain of setting up VM's, reinstalling iTunes, getting all my album art back in etc. (though I could, as I do have Win7 pro). I've also heard that running iTunes in Windows 7 compatibility mode might help. Can anyone confirm whether that actually works?
I think it's in Apple's gift to fix this issue, given that they say that they support Windows 7. So far I've had no feedback from a mail I sent to Apple, and the number of users reporting this problem keeps going up and up.
I want Apple to recognise that there is a problem, and then I want them to fix it.

  • My iPod touch is in recovery mode, how do I get it out of this?

My daughter's iPod touch is in recovery mode (we know this by the code it gives us when she plugs it in to the computer), how do we get it out of this?  We have tried resetting by holding down the on/off button and the other button on the bottom front of the iPod for 30 seconds to a minute and nothing happens.

Two ways to get the iPod Touch out of recovery mode.
From iTunes click "Restore" this will download the latest iOS for your iPod Touch and install it.
Second way is to press and hold both the home button and the sleep button for around ten seconds and release them when the Apple logo shows on the screen.
