New iPod Touch to match iPhone 3G S?

Are there any plans to upgrade the Touch hardware to match the new iPhone 3G S? I'm looking to buy, but don't want to buy if a new Touch is in the works. Specifically, the oleophobic screen sounds like its worth waiting for.
TIA
Mark

Nobody here knows for sure if a new iPod is in the works, but I doubt very much that Apple have stopped developing them.
Apple haven't announced any new models, but in the last few years, new iPod models have been released in September.

  • My daughter got a new ipod touch and set it up using my apple id.  It sync'ed and got my contacts, so she went ahead and deleted them off her ipod.  Unfortunately, my iphone then 'synced to the cloud' and I lost all my contacts.

My daughter got a new ipod touch and set it up using my apple id.  Once she sync'ed it, she had all my contacts, so she went ahead and deleted the ones she didn't want.  Unfortunately, my iphone then sync'ed to the cloud and all my contacts were wiped out (the ones she deleted).
So, I wiped my iphone and did an icloud backup/restore.  This restored all my apps, but my contacts are still the ones from when my daughter did her update.  It doesn't appear as though I got back my contacts, even though I chose an icloud backup from before the deletion.  Logging into icloud shows the reduced/deleted contacts, not the full list I had, and I can't see a way to revert back to an old copy.
Any ideas?  I thought restoring from the cloud would have done it, but the contacts I got were the 'current' copy, not an older/archived copy.
I'd appreciate any ideas.  None of the articles I found seemed to address retrieving an 'old' copy of your contacts from the cloud.

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • My daughter has a new ipod touch and when synced it had all of my iphone contacts. she deleted the ones she didn't want and they were removed from my phone as well. How can I get them back if they were deleted from the cloud? I also had them on my pc

My daughter bought a new ipod touch and when synced received the contacts from my iphone. She deleted the ones she didn't want on her ipod and now they are gone from my iphone. I have the cloud and i thought back up on itunes. I have tried to re-sync and no luck. How can I get my contacts back?

Your problem is that she used your icloud ID to connect to icloud and thus had all your data synced to her device.  Contacts are not saved in a backup to icloud, since they are stored independently in the Contacts section of icloud.  If someone deletes them, they are gone.  If you had them on the PC would they be available in some backup you frequently make of the PC?

  • Restore new Ipod Touch from iPhone 4 backup...

I bought my son an iPod touch as he is constantly asking to play games on my iPhone 4. I want to transfer the games from my iPhone 4 to his iPod, including the save data. Is it possible for me to simply restore his new iPod from my latest iPhone backup? I can then delete any apps he would not be using, etc.

    yes.
in fact, when you connect the Touch to iTunes for the 1st time, you should be asked if you want the back up of your iPhone to be restored to the Touch.

  • How to sync iphone app to new ipod touch

hi, im new to this. i've been downloading quite a lot of paid apps from iphone 3GS. now i have this new ipod touch. how do i sync the paid apps to my ipod touch?
    thanks

    Welcome to the discussions,
you can use the apps as well if you're using the same account and if they don't use or need features that only the iphone has, for example the camera app or video apps.
Your ipod will be recognized as a separate device and you can set it up as you wish.

  • New iPod touch vs. iPod on iPhone

    Dear all
    I have a 5th Gen iPod and also a 3G iPhone.
To me, using the same headphones and eq setting on both, the 5th Gen iPod sounds better than the iPod on the phone. The sound is just a lot 'richer' and expansive on the 5th Gen Ipod when compared to the iPhone.
My question to those who have a new iPod Touch is:
Is the Touch exactly the same as the iPod on the iPhone, or do you notice a difference in sound quality on the Touch?
I'm thinking of buying a Touch but won't do so if I'll just get what I already have on the iPhone in terms of sound quality.

As far as sound quality goes, I've got (as u can see from my signature) a bunch of ipods. Each model sounds different. IMO, the best sounding unit is the 4G full size ipod, which was my very FIRST ipod, years ago. The Touch doesn't have the fidelity of the big ipod, in my opinion. The shuffles I have (I have 3 of them and my wife has 1) are the most inferior sounding of all, but that doesn't prevent me from using them when I want something small. ipod sound quality is hardly of audiophile quality if one is picky enough. but it's still enjoyable to listen to music that's got a high enough bit rate. I rip at 320.

  • Does the new ipod touch have the same camera optics as the iphone 4S?

Does the new iPod Touch have the same camera optics as the iPhone 4S?

Thank you for your reply. But once again if you can clarify please: Let's say I want to purchase the new white iPod Touch (introduced October 2011), will it have the 8 MP camera and improved optics? I'm wondering because I love to take photos and use photo-sharing apps, and I've read so many great reviews on the outstanding camera of the iPhone 4S - but I can't afford the iPhone just yet (also because of my current phone contract) so I was wondering if the newest iPod Touch camera is the same as iPhone 4S. I have the iPod Touch 4th gen, the one introduced Sept 2010, and as you may know that camera isn't the best. I just want to take better photos to share.
    Thank you.

  • Why did my reminders show from my iphone to my daughters new ipod touch?

Why are the reminders from my iphone the only things that are showing on my daughers new ipod touch?  And how do I undo this?

Because Reminds an other things are linked to the iCloud account used on the devices. Isuspec they two devices all use the same Apple ID and thsu all by default use the same iCloud account.
I would create a NEW account for yor daughter using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
    The go to
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that only her ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that under You can be reached at only her ID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with hers
Continue to use the same ID in Settings>iTunes and App Stores so you can share purchases

  • How can a new iPod touch use the same account as an old one?

I use one Mac and sync multiple iPods and iPhones to it and use just one iTunes account.
Recently, my daughter killed her iPod touch. (Sad, I know.) Now she's getting a new one for Christmas.
How will I sync the new iPod touch to pick up the songs, videos, apps, etc. that were used on the old iPod touch?

  • My brand-new iPod touch (5th Gen) battery takes a very long time to fully charge, even while not in use. Why is this and what should I do?

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways, like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.

It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.
