New ipod touch won't charge or turn on

I'm using the cord it originally came with. I purchased another Apple charger cord and it still wouldn't charge. I've tried 6 different USB ports, on two different computers. Both laptops were on (not in sleep mode) and plugged in.
While the ipod is plugged in, it displays the red battery charging symbol. (This screen http://tinyurl.com/3b33wnb ) If unplugged, it is completely unresponsive.
I've tried resetting it. The screen flashes but returns to the dead battery screen. I read and tried solutions in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2771 under Power/Battery, tried to put it into recovery mode as per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 but it never displays a "Connect to iTunes" screen, and read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 but found it unhelpful since iTunes doesn't detect my device so I can't do anything suggested in the article.
There is no water damage, I haven't dropped it, etc. I posted a week ago with this problem. None of the responses helped, and I felt like answerers were just fishing for points. It is still not working.
Is there anything else I can try, or should I just take it back to the store or send it in for repair?

i have the same proplem :S .. give me your email .. or add me  [email protected]  .hope to be freinds and help each other in repairing our ipods!

  • Brand new Ipod touch won't charge or turn on

I recently got a brand new Ipod touch. The first thing I did was plug it in to charge it. A red battery icon showed up on the screen. I left the ipod on the charger for hours and the icon was still red. It won't turn on either. I have tried connecting it to ITunes but the red battery icon just comes up whenever I plug it into the computer and it does not show up on itunes. I am new to the ipod touch so maybe I am doing something wrong, or is there a fault in the ipod??
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks!

    First try reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • New ipod touch won't charge/sync on the computer or using a wall charger?

My new ipod touch was working and i synced it on itunes and downloaded some apps and then it suddenly could not recognise it and stopped syncing.
it came up with error 0xe8000001 and said the iphone cannot be found, eventhough it's an itouch not iphone.
Now the error does not come up but it's not recognised on any of the computers. The cable is fine as it works for other ipods. It won't charge on the wall charger either and the battery is almost out. It syncs for about one second when i plug the usb into the computer and beeps and then disconnects again.
    Please help?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Brand new iPod Touch, won't charge!

    Hi there,
Have posted this under another topic but hope to get some more exposure here.
Just as a disclaimer, I work for a retail store in New Zealand. Have taken a returned iPod touch home to try and fix, but am stuck! This iPod still belongs to my employer however, needs to be restored to a re-sellable condition.
Basically, the iPod touch will not charge. It is forever stuck on the 'no charge' screen with the red battery symbol and the lightning bolt at the bottom. This is when it is plugged in (have plugged it in to a PC, my Mac and wall charger). When not plugged in, same symbols appear except with a plug symbol, pointing to the lightning bolt.
When plugged in, the iPod doesn't show up in iTunes or Disk Utility, same on the HP PC laptop I also tried it on.
I put the iPod into DFU mode and restored it to the latest firmware with iTunes on my Mac. However, once the iPod has finished restoring, iTunes tells me it will show up after rebooting but once the countdown has finished, the same stupid 'no charge' symbols appear.
By the way, this iPod has been left charging on two different wall chargers overnight, I have tried restoring it several times and still to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I am totally stumped.
    Cheers!

Well since it has not been charging on multiple computers i would take a look at replacing the usb cable. Something could not be connecting right or just needs to be replaced. If this has already been done it is starting to sound like a battery issue with the ipod.
    Hope this helps!!

  • My 1st Gen Ipod Touch won't charge while turned on, dies 30 seconds after powering on.

I own a first gen Ipod Touch. Recently I let it sit until the battery died. When I went to charge it, it wouldn't charge unless I held the charger a specific way. Then, when I discovered the one way it accepted the charger, it started charging. However, once the apple logo popped up and my password screen came on, the ipod was no longer charging. Keep in mind I still had the charger in the same way as before. Around 30 seconds after the Ipod started, it shut back off. This keeps happening and I've tried a bunch of things. Nothing I've searched for gets me any results. Any help?

    Have you tried:
    - Using another cable?
    - Restore in the iPod. First from backup and then to factory defaults/new iPod?
    - Looking carefully at the dock connector on the iPod.  Look for bend or corroded contacts or other abnormalities?
It sounds like you have a problem with the dock connector or cable or maybe a bad battery.

  • My new Ipod Touch won't charge, why?

The charger worked with my friend's Iphone, so why not my Ipod?

Are you using an Apple charger?  If not, the iPod may say it isn't charging with some brands, when actually it is just charging very slowly.
If your iPod won't charge with either A/C power or via USB and with different cables, your iPod may be ready for that great iPod graveyard in the sky.

  • My 4th gen iPod Touch won't charge

    Hi, folks:
Suddenly, my 4th generation iPod Touch won't charge. I don't mean it won't hold a charge; I mean it WON'T charge. There's no (peep!) when I attach it to a Mac, a Windows box, or to the wall. I've tried not only at my place but at my doctor's office, too, on his computer. Rats.
It fell three feet onto a concrete floor a week before this happened, so I'm unsure of cause/effect there. However, chances are most excellent that I touched it while filled with static electicity (my bed is exceedingly staticky). Maybe I touched the charging port? I have no idea, but I kinda sorta have a memory of having gotten a shock while touching my pod and wondering whether that was bad.
It'll be a couple more days before I can get to a Genius Bar (but thank cow I'm in New York City and have my pick of them!). In the meantime, can anyone calm me down about my situation? Do you imagine it's doomed (it IS still operable provided I keep it plugged in, though iTunes can't see it since it won't mount), or do you spose the installation of a new battery might bring my precious baby back to me? It IS freshly backed up (again, thank cow!), but I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now, and unfortunately, I don't know what to do with my eyeballs without a Touch in front of them.
Oh, how I hope someone can tell me that this has happened to him, and an Apple Genius merely did something magical and handed it back intact and amazing again so Ican cry happy tears. It's been four days and I'm just sick without it (and having to look at this gigantic Mac, with its large and beautiful text in many windows, means I can't RECLINE! WAAAAH!).
Thanks for any soothing words you have, and if you have sad ones, well, I'll vag up and read them, as I've prepared for the worst anyway (sob!). Just please deliver them gently.
    I appreciate it!

Wow, Kevin; that's a tantalizing theory! I don't like it (I *never* like to think about logic board damage for any piece of hardware), but it's tantalizing, as it would explain my pod seemingly charging out of thin air, and it'd also explain why my pod doesn't just DIE altogether from a dead battery.
I feel like an idiot: I have iTunes set to never sync automatically with my pod, so it never automatically recognizes the pod. I'll bet I could sync it if I clicked to "apply," as I've been downloading new apps since 2/21 (the last time I backed the pod up, mere minutes before it failed), but I don't want to risk not having a connection that's 100% and bollixing up what's on the pod now. (I'll be in the hospital for a day and will need something to read the whole time; I'll need an intact pod!)
Thanks for sticking with me, Kevin; I always like figgering things out, and your theory's interesting. I'll mention it to the Genius. It doesn't give me any hope, but not having any hope, I can always be pleasantly surprised, whereas if I go in all hopeful, someone can dash my dreams. This way, I'll prolly just have my expectations met.
I appreciate your talking it out with me a lot!

  • HELP!! Ipod touch will not charge or turn on

My ipod touch will not charge or turn on. I think the battery went dead, but now it won't even turn on or charge. My computer does not even recognize that it is plugged in. I have tried to charge it on other devices and get the same result. Can anyone help?

    TRY GEORGE GUERRERO'S ANSWER FIRST.
Plug it into the computer for about 15 minutes.
If it starts to turn on after about 15 minutes then unplug it.
As it is turning on hold down BOTH THE POWER AND THE HOME BUTTON on the itouch for 15 seconds, or until it flashes white or just turns back off.
Then RELESE THE POWER BUTTON BUT STILL HOLD DOWN THE HOME BUTTON.
    Then plug it back in.
The computer should reconise your ipod.

  • New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3 says it needs 11.1 but I cannot load that on my macbook using OSX 10.5.8 any way around this?

New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3, says it needs 11.1 or newer but I cannot load that onto my MacBook running on OSX 10.5.8 - is there anyway around this?

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
    You can get 10.6.8 here:
