New iPod Touch won't connect to wifi

I recently purchased three 32GB iPod Touch's for my children for Christmas.  I'm trying to set them up ready to go, but one of them just won't connect to my wifi.  The other two have no trouble, connected immediately.  Can anyone shed some light on this or do I need to make an appointment at the apple store?  I have tried to reset the network settings, it has made no difference unfortunately.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?

  • New ipod touch won't connect, shows itunes and usb icons

My son just got a new ipod touch for his birthday. I have the latest version of itunes, and I have spent hours scouring the internet looking for a solution. Whether the thing is plugged into the computer or not, all it will do is show the usb cable icon and the itunes icon. When I plug it into the computer, my computer makes the noise that indicates that a device has plugged in, the ipod beeps one beep, and I get an error message from itunes that says that a rented movie from the ipod cannot be imported into itunes. Other than that, the computer, including itunes, doesn't acknowledge the existence of the ipod, not in the device manager, in itunes, in the itunes diagnostics tests, or anywhere else. In addition, the battery won't charge.
Also, I noticed that I do not have anything called "Apple Mobile Device Service," although I do have something called "Bonjour service." Are these the same thing or could this be the problem. Please HELP!

  • Brand New 5th Gen iPod Touch Won't Connect to Wifi

I just got a brand new 5th gen iPod Touch and expected to have a fun night of playing with it, but instead I was trying to figure out why it won't connect to my network. Not a good introduction to a product.
Here is the related info and troubleshooting steps I've already tried:
    - It will not connect to my wifi network
    - The iPod Touch says "Unable to join the network [network name]" when I try to connect to my network (as opposed to "Could not find the network [network name]" when it is not the correct network name)
    - I was able to connect to a random unsecure network nearby
    - Of course I power cycled my router and modem to reset them
    - My wireless router does not broadcast its SSID; I made it broadcast it and it still didn't connect
    - My network is password protected. I tried changing the security type, as well as turning the password off altogether, but nothing worked
    - My wireless router is a Netgear WGT624 v3
    - Even though it's brand new, I tried resetting the iPod Touch and the network settings
Does anyone have any tips or solutions for this?
I wasn't able to find other people with this problem, at least not with solutions that I haven't tried. It's really frustrating not being able to connect to the internet with my new device.
I will point out that my Android phone connected to my wifi network on the first try with no problems.
    Thanks

  • My iPod touch won't connect to wifi?

I recently got an iPod touch 5th gen, and at first everything worked fine. Randomly, it stopped connecting to my home wifi network. Other devices (my brothers phone, my tablet) connect to it fine, but with my iPod it says it's connected and I have 3 bars of wifi, but Safari won't load any websites, none of my social media apps work, and it acts as if it has no wifi connection. It works perfectly fine at other wifi networks (I've tried it at school and at some public wifi locations), but it won't use my home wifi. I've tried turning the wifi off and back on, restarting my iPod (holding down power+home buttons), resetting network connections, tapping "forget this network" and joining it again, making sure that I am on the latest update of iOS, and nothing seems to work. I've tried setting the HTTP PROXY to "Atuo" because I read somewhere that it solves the problem, but everything is the same. I connect to the wifi and it works fine for like 1 minute, and then it just stops working. I don't get any error message or anything either. I don't think it's my router because like I said, all the other wireless devices in my house are able to connect just fine. If anyone could help me with this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a 4th generation iPod touch. It was working fine but all of a sudden I can't stay connected to the WiFi unless it is plugged in. Anyone else ever experience this? All my other devices work fine on WiFi, so I assume it must be a problem with my iPod.

  • Brand new iPod touch won't connect with iTunes

    Hi,
I have just been given an iPod Touch (32 gb) and am trying to get it to work.
I started by down loading a new copy of iTunes (there was an old version on my computer) and installing it. I plugged in the iPod and for a few seconds it displayed the apple logo. Then a symbol showing a usb cable with an arrow pointing to a iTunes logo appeared. The computer detects the iPod, but iTunes doesn't. I have not been able to progress past this screen. Initally, I thought that it might not have charged, so I left it plugged in for a few hours. I contacted Apple, and on their instructions, I've tried turning it off and doing a restore. I've also removed iTunes and then reinstalled it. I've tested my setup on an old iPod (iTunes detects it fine) and another iPod Touch (iTunes doesn't detect it). When the iPod Touch is connected to a Mac, it works fine.
My computer uses Windows XP and is about six years old.
Does anybody have an idea for something else I can try? Thank you in advance.

Try removing your Security Software(nortons,Zone alarm,Mcaffe etc)or at least turning it off and reboot, then delete the driver installed for your i-pod and reinstall the driver, then reinstall your Security System.Hope that helps it worked for me!!!!

  • My iPod touch won't connect to wifi. Password is correct. Already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings. Already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.

A message keeps popping up when I try to join my network that says, "unable to join the network."
I have already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings.
I already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.
The password is correct. I even made sure by checking my wifi account.
I have completely restarted my internet connection multiple times.
I have also restarted my ipod multiple times
My wifi was working on my iPod yesterday before I reset all settings.
I updated it yesterday to iOS 5. Still didn't work.
It wasn't updated to the new iOS 6 until today so I don't think it has anything to do with the upgrade.
My camera started to be glitchy, so I reset my Ipod like I was advised in another discussion.
My internet wasn't connected anymore. My password wasn't working either, but the wifi connection was still showing.
    Safari still wasn't working, though.
I did the sensible thing and I reset my network connection.
Now, the password isn't working and there's no wifi signal.
The camera is working well now, but the wifi is messed up. I didn't expect any of this to happen. The internet is all I use the iPod for. Now, the iPod is useless to me. Please help?

are other things still connecting to the wifi without a problem?
Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

  • Ipod Touch won't connect to wifi

I have an iMac which has the AirPort (at home)
I just bought the iTouch and I'm having trouble connecting to the WiFi
The network name appears on the (iTouch) screen from my computer. As soon as I input the password, I end up getting an error message.
It would say "Unable to join network" or "unable or find network."
I have tried numerous times but I still can't connect.
Could someone tell me what I need to do in order for the iTouch to recognize my network (and I'll able to access the internet).

A couple of things to remember with Airport base stations - make sure you are not broadcasting in N mode only and using WPA/WPA2 encryption.
On your touch, try the following:
    1. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    2. When your iPod restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > other network and enter your network name (case sensitive), security method, and password (also case sensitive).
You should be connected at this point.

  • Brand new Ipod touch won't connect

Just out of the box, I get the Plug-it-into-itunes icon. But nothing happens when I plug it in. No connection.

You have the latest version of iTunes installed? Your OS meets spec (10.4.10, I believe)?

  • Two of our ipod touches won't connect to the home wifi.  They have done before. All other apple devices connect fine.  They can see the wifi devices, appear to try to connect (the circle whirls around) but connection doesn't complete.  Ideas?

I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. It would seem that the latest tweeks to the OS is the problem with wifi connectivity.

  • TS1398 my ipod touch won't join the wifi network even after entering correct password. it just keeps trying to join but I can't use internet

My home wifi is working for all my other apple devices but my daughter's Ipod Touch won't connect. It recognises the network and attempts to join it as usual but it just keeps 'trying' without actually connecting. Have switched on and off, renewed lease, reset networks etc - basically everything I can think of but no luck. Any help much appreciated.

Try restarting your router, if you are still having problems try resetting your network settings.  Go into your settings>reset then tap reset network settings.

  • New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3 says it needs 11.1 but I cannot load that on my macbook using OSX 10.5.8 any way around this?

New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3, says it needs 11.1 or newer but I cannot load that onto my MacBook running on OSX 10.5.8 - is there anyway around this?

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
    You can get 10.6.8 here:
