New iPod TV out resolution

Do the new iPods output video at the newly supported 640x480 resolution or do they output the scaled version of the video that they display on their own screens?
Same question for the old 5G iPods with the updated firmware.
Thanks.

All G5 Ipods with the 2.1 patch can play both 640 X 480 and 320 X 240 resolution files.
Itunes upgraded the quality from 320 X 240 to 640 X 280 on all video avaliable on Itunes past and present.
The Ipod will only play at 320 X 240 on its screen because that is the screen used in it's design.
The ipod's video will play on your computer and TV at the new 640 X 480 resolution as long as the original file was purchased at that resolution after Sept 12.
Hope that helps.

  • My iMac thinks my brand new iPod is out of date!

HI - on my new imac, i have transfered my old itunes library via a portable hard drive. This went fine, with all my tunes now appearing on the new i.mac. To play them i was prompted to enter my old apple id (FROM 2002) that i set up with my old nano years ago.
Now, when i plug in the brand new i5.1 IPOD TOUCH which was bought with the imac last week, it says to me - "you need to update your itunes to 5" - yet its already 10!
I think it sees the new ipod as the old ipod - and i cant sync it - it just dosnt give mne the option.
I have registered my new id on all the devices / computers - the old one cant be entered asits not an email address

Thanks - I know, thats why I decided to get all upgraded. Its just that now that I have put my old library on the NEW i.mac, the NEW ipod touch isnt properly recognised. Like I said initially - now when I plug in the BRAND NEW IPOD TOUCH into the BRAND NEW IMAC, the imac tells me I need i,tunes 5 and to download it from the store - YET it already have itunes 10
gosh this is complicated isnt it?
anyone else got similar experience and solved it?

  • WiFi on New iPod Touch Timeout

My brand new ipod times out every ten min or so and drops the wifi connection. This really ***** because that means I do not get my email or messages. Sort of makes the device an expensive desk weight. Does anyone know of an app for 4.2 or a workaround? Will Apple please fix this?

It could be that your router is dropping the connection because of inactivity or the lease time is set to expire too soon. Drag out your router manual and carefully check the settings - especially those having to do with lease length.

  • I'm thinking about buying iPod Video, should i wait for a new iPod or?

  • Trade-In Rebates for new iPods???

Im a bit angry the new iPods are out so soon and I just got mine not even a year ago. The big thing for me is the battery power - _(Even the new Nano) 3X 's what Ive got in the 30gb._ Does anyone know if Apple will be offering any trade in rebates of any kind - espiecially around the holliday season? Such as maybe $50 or so off with the trade-in of the old one

I understand your pain. There is no question that it is a bummer when you buy a product and then you notice that the next generation comes out and you get more for your money. This happens with televisions, digital cameras, computers, anything electronic and all brands.
I just wonder, would someone have an viable idea of how to make this less painfull?
Everyone who has ever bought an electronic product has this experience. EVERYONE. Not just the few who complain bitterly on this message board.
These products are retail products and are sold in a brick & mortar store as well as online. The store sells them until the product is replaced by a newer model. The sales team is never told when the new models will replace the old models.
One day the new models arrive, and the old models are removed.
There is one day only when the change happens...someone will have bought one the day before...how else would you do it?
If the sales person tells everyone "don't buy the product in the store, because the new model will be here in a month", then you have a store sitting there not able to sell ...should you close the store for a month?
I can't see how else you would do it!?!?
Should you close the store forever? Because now that you've bought the 160 GIG iPod., you KNOW it will be replaced by something better, and who knows when? in 2 months? in 6 weeks? in a year??
The minute you buy an electronic product, it becomes the old model, because you know they are working on the new/next models right now!
Do you feel better if the new model comes out 3 months later? 4 months later? 5 months later?
    Here is what I think:
Choose the product that you buy carefully, expect a better one to come out at any time, make sure you buy what you want, and then enjoy it for it's lifetime, or be prepared to sell it somehow if you want a different one.
    Any better ideas?

  • How can I sync my ipod 6g. to a new computer with out losing all the info

My computer is starting to fail so I bought a new one. How do I sync my ipods they are 6 gen to the new computer with out losing all the data that is on the ipod?

Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you.
