New iPod update has messed up my Artist list!!!

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me out, as this problem is causing a great deal of annoyance & frustration. My iPod recently that there was a new update to download, which I did. However, once I did this, this has greatly messed up my Artist listings. For example, I had the Ozzy Osbourne "Prince Of Darkness" set on my iTunes. Disc 3 of this set is Ozzy with other artists, so the Artist name on these songs are written as Ozzy with Primus, Ozzy with Type O Negative, etc. I have it written as Artist Sort Name: Ozzy Osbourne and not listed as a compilation, so that it still lists under the name of Ozzy Osbourne in Artist List. Before the update download, everything was nicely organized under this one name. Now however, every different name (ie. ...with Primus, ...with Type O Negative) is now listed in Artists under Ozzy Osbourne. This is only one of many examples were this has occured, so as can be imagined, my Artist List is now greatly disorganized. It is very frustrating, especially since I have been spending a lot of time trying to organize my iPod. Can you please tell me how I can get things straight again. Thanks,
-Colin

So I have been complaining about all the issues to Apple customer service, the community forums and calling Wacom and Photoshop and they all blame YOU!
Well we don't even know you, so why us? we are just users of Apple equipment, like you are, well maybe not quite like you are but you know what I mean.
Curb the attitude and describe your issues and someone may help.
Here's one to start with, the little grey wheel that went around and around while Mountain Lion and Mavericks got started has been replaced by an blue bar that gets longer. It's normal.

Go to the Store tab in iTunes and click on the Check For Available Downloads.

My new ipod touch has no icons, just background screen. Help?

The screen of a new iPod will have a iTunes and a USB cord icons. To use the iPod you first have to connect the iPod to a computer with an internet connect and which has the latest version of iTunes installed. ITunes will give you instructions after you connect the iPod to the computer.

  • New iPod Updater will not download in iTunes 7.0

When I plug in my iPod it asks me if I want to Download and Install the new iPod Updater for iTunes 7.0, but when I click yes it tells me that I am not connected to the internet when I clearly am. Everything else works fine including the iTunes Store so I don't know why it wont update the updater. If someone could help with this it would be great, it's been driving me crazy!

I found the solution on my own here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304468

  • New iTunes Update Has Made it Impossible to Load to My Ipod

I just downloaded and installed the new update for iTunes. When I next attached my ipod to load things on to it I couldn't. I shows up on iTunes, no problem. But when I right click on things to add them to the ipod it doesn't show up under the 'Add to Playlist' category as it used to. I've found that if I select 'Autofil' that will put music onto the ipod, but I have no control over what order they are in. Any rearranging of the order after they load won't take. Also, none of my Audio Books from Audible.com will load onto it at all.
I tried restarting the system, restoring my ipod to factory settings, uninstalling iTunes and then installing it again. I even downloaded and used the Ipod Reset Utility. Nothing works. So, all I can have is random music but none of the Audio Books which were my REASON for getting an ipod in the first place.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening and what I should do about it?
    Thanks,
    Georgia

I'm having a lot of problems with the new iTunes update. I only use the Shuffle for podcasts, while exercising. With the new iTunes, I cannot even load podcast on the Shuffle.
The Autofill features never worked for podcasts, even before the recent update, but at least it was a convenient way to clear my Shuffle. I was able to highlight podcasts, then add them to the Shuffle manually.
Now, the Shuffle does not even show up as an option, just as Georgia Millet described.
Is there a way to roll back iTunes to the older version, until this can be fixed???? This is extremely frustrating.
I may just switch to a different software, if these problems continue...

  • NEW iPod Touch has an error message

I got a new iPod touch just over two weeks ago. I'd had one previously so I just connected the new one as per the instruction booklet. Within half an hour iTunes popped up to tell me to update. So I did. BIG MISTAKE. The iPod crashed, I tried to restore but got the message "cannot restore, error 21". After going through the forums and the less than helpful Apple support pages I eventually took it back to the store and they replaced it.
So I connected the new one but didn't do the update and everything has been fine.
SO two weeks later I'm still getting the message to update. I figure that Apple would have fixed any problems in that time so I go ahead. I'm now sitting with an iPod stuck in recovery with error 14.
It'll cost me a fortune to phone through to support and I live over 100 miles from the nearest Apple store.
Any advice that ANYONE can give would be much appreciated!!

I did try the various steps people have suggested in other threads but still the problem exists.
I phoned Apple today and they have offered to change the iPod again and actually advised me not to update the new one...
They are suggesting it may be a USB problem - but having used a PC and a laptop, and three different cables I doubt that.
One other thing they suggested is that the wireless adapter I use for my web connection may be causing the problem - again I've tried it on a patop with an integrated wireless adapter but you never know I suppose.

  • WILL THERE BE A NEW IPOD UPDATE SOON???

    Hey,
Almost all 60GB 5G video ipod owners are having problems with video playback (freezes after 30 sec) using the new ipod software update 1.1. I had this problem also so I downgraded to the original software 1.0 however I am looking to purchase a radio remote that they just came out with but it requires this new upgrade to have the radio option on the ipod. So my question is: Will there be a new update that will fix this bug so that I can use BOTH the radio remote and be able to play videos back without the freezing (the 1.0 software plays video perfect, 1.1 makes videos freeze). It seems like apple is aware of this problem and has not released a new update to accomodate its customers as of yet. Is this in the works (if so how soon should we expect it?) or do they plan on just screwing its customers over who don't own itunes purchased videos or those converted using their quicktime pro? If thats the case I think theyre being unreasonable and unfair. Thanks a lot for any helpful response you may have!

Your problem is with your choice of conversion software and the profile it uses. There is nothing wrong with the IPOD last update. To my knowledge, Apple never stated they could or would support the many flimflam conversion software makers out to make a quick buck. I had my 30 and 60 Gb 3 days after they hit the market. Both play all types of video files converted using the MPEG Simple Profile. I use industry proven software and not "Freeware" spliced together. I have proved this point many times over the past few months to IPOD owners reporting this problem. Why do my files play and theirs don't? Well on Feb 24, I gave access to my server to download videos converted properly to IPOD owners via another website. My server went to 100% load within the first half hour. Over 6,000 files were downloaded within 1 hour. No one to date via the link I posted, reported any problems playing the files on the 1.1 IPOD Update. Many thanked me for the effort. I don't make my servers directly available to the public as routine, but was convinced this public test would put an end to the many complaints. In addition, over 60 individuals sent me files converted by software that they use or purchased. Of the 60 files 12 were just plain corrupted and the remianing 48 files revealed that the audio and video was not in compliance with the IPODs hardware specifications. I am 100% certain that Apple is aware of the complaints concerning this issue. So what do you expect them to do, fix their hardware or make the software makers fix theirs?
I have and tested the following devices. All have a mix of different video standards.
    IPOD 30 and 60g
Creative Zen and Zen Vision M:
Archos Gmini 402, AV 500 and AV 700
iRiver PMC-120 and just received the "New" U10
    iStation V43
    Cowan A2
Do a little research using Google and you would be amazed at the solutions to this issue you are having. Good Luck!

  • New ipod update breaks Mopar Jeep integration car kit

I updated to iTunes 7 and did the ipod update on my 5G ipod that came with it. It has broken my Mopar ipod Jeep Integration kit to listen to my ipod in the car. I get the message from the car that says "update firmware," which I assume means that the car can't recognize the new firmware. I'm downgrading now, but what I want to know is, are future ipod updates going to break my car kit every time? Is it something apple can fix or mopar? Does anyone have this problem with their car integration and ipod updates? Also, can I run iTunes 7 with the last working version of firmware, or will I lose the new movie and game features? Any other stories/workarounds/information would be great, the documentation with the Mopar kit is horrible...

I downgraded to the last ipod update by downloading it from apple and don't seem to have any problems with iTunes 7 or my car now, aside from iTunes telling me my ipod isn't up to date yet. I still would like to know if I will ever be able to update my ipod again or if I am "stuck" with this version of the ipod software? I don't like that I can't update it again without it breaking my car integration. Hopefully they fix that in next release.

  • Recent iPod Updater has sabotaged my iPod!!

So I plug my iPod into my PC to put some songs on it, and I get a little window that says I need to download an update for my iPod. Ok, no problem. I download the file and install the Updater (to include restarting the PC afterwards). I run the updater and it begins doing some things to the iPod. The updater recognizes my iPod and even my name and the unit's serial number and all that.
Suddenly, there's an error message saying something about how the update failed or some such nonsense. When I try again, the Updater no longer recongizes my personal info and only gives me the option to RESTORE the iPod, not UPDATE. On top of that, my iPod will no longer start up properly even when disconnected from the PC.
I just get that dreaded Caution exclamation point atop a folder icon right after the Apple logo shows up. Then the unit turns off.
I can't believe that I am looking at possibly having to wipe my iPod because of a software issue from Apple themselves. It's a 60GB and it has a LOT of music that I don't want to have to find again. iTunes only has about half of the songs as I have changed PC's since I bought the iPod.
Also, I tried an older iPod Updater version, but that didn't work either.
    Any ideas?
      Windows XP Pro

Well, Tech Support mentioned iLounge software, but seeing even "My Computer" wants to reformat the device, they went on to say that my only option is to completely wipe the iPod.
So, in retrospect, I get a message to update, I do, and it screws everything up so much that I have to lose all the music on my iPod (which wouldn't be such a big deal hadn't the hard drive with the music on it recently crashed). The moral here has to be to NEVER UPDATE ANYTHING iPod or iTunes related.

  • My new iPod touch has a white screen and does not reset

Just bought a new iPod touch and I got a white scree and cannot turn it off. I have tried reset via the power and home button but still have the white screen.
Is there a quick fix or should I just return it under warranty?

Don't mess around with it.  Return it.

  • New iPod update.

Does anyone have any idea when the next iPod update will be available, considering that it's been a while since the last one?

We have no idea, as we do not work for apple...

  • My new iPod nano has death

I just bought a new iPod nano 4th generation a week ago, and I never took it out from the package until yesterday when I arrived to Colombia. I connected with my pc at 9 pm and then I synchronized with iTunes. It worked perfectly, I could listen to music. Today I also used in the morning and then I turned it off. In the afternoon I tried to turn it on, but it never turns up, the screen is completely black and anything happens. I connected with the computer, but it is not recognized. iTunes does not recognize it either. I will stay in Colombia for a long time. What can I do?

Try resetting by switching the hold switch to on then off again. After doing this hold down the Select button and Menu button on the click wheel for 6-10 seconds until the Apple logo reappears. You may have to resync your ipod by using itunes again to get it working.

  • Album is on iPod but doesn't show in Artist list

I have a 60g iPod and I noticed that a few albums on my iTunes don't appear in the artist list on my iPod. I can find it by Album title or song, but not by artist.

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.
