New Ipod with wapred screen

Does anyone else's Ipod video have a couple of rainbow-ish spots visible on the screen? They are only visible when it is turned off, or the backlight isn't on. It looks like the discoloration you get when you press on an LCD screen, it's almost as if it's from the click wheel. I'm just wnodering if this is normal, or a defect. It isn't super-obvious... but you can definatley tell something is wrong when you look at the screen from different angles. This is my first Ipod so I appreciate the help.

My new 30GB shows the exact same discoloration in the bottom center, and only when the backlight is off - I'm not happy about it, its a bit disappointing since the backlight gobbles the batteries. I really want to compare it with another one

  • Is possibile to syncronize a second new ipod with the same library?

IS possibile to syncronize a second new iPod with the same library?

My gf was having the same issues and also with a big echo every time I called her either from my 4S or even fron a land line as per other comments here. They told he to take it into the Apple store and they reset the software and now it's working fine.....so far.
Now today my bluetooth earpiece has decided to stop working for some unknown reason and then the last person that called me said my phone keep cutting out. I don't know whether that was because I had to turn off my bluetooth to answer the phone or what.
I suspect Apple will be sending out an update to fix some of these reported issues but in the meantime the local Apple store seems to be the only option. Just hoping I don't have to take that option as that would require a huge inconvenience for me as neither of the two stores in the Vanvouver area are remotely close to me.
    Good luck.

  • How to install a new ipod with new serial number

I have recieved a new ipod with a new serial number. i lost my old cd which installs the ipod onto the comp with the new serial number ect. and ofcourse ints not enough to just have the new ipod updater and itunes. HOW do i install the ipod? anybody? how do i get that program?
    Thanx

good lord ... the 0x80040707 can sometimes be
caused by uninstalling software from a different user
account from which it was originally installed, or
installing a higher version of the software in a
different user account. (haven't seen a report
strongly suggesting this was going on for a while
with an ipod updater install, but it's been reported
    every now and then.)
Just so you know, nothing was done with the original installation, on the original user's account (let's call it UserA. My account, UserB was already in existence when all the software was originally installed to the root directory in C:\programs. Both accounts are administrators. This is getting so frustrating that I think I'll bring my external drive that has all the stuff I want to put onto the Ipod, do it in the office, and that will be that!

  • SHOULD I GET THE NEW IPOD WITH ViDEO?

I was wondering if I should get a new iPod. Can you give me some help. I wanted to know the pro and cons.

I was wondering if I should get a new iPod. Can you
give me some help. I wanted to know the pro and cons.
It depends. Do you have an earlier version of iPod? If you do, and it still works well, then I would wait. The only reason I would recommend getting a new iPod is if you had an earlier iPod break; you have a low capacity mp3 player; you want to have a color screen. I recently had an unofrtunate event happen with a 6 gig mini iPod. I have done all I can to try and fix it, but to no avail. So, I ended up looking to buy another iPod. I did some research, and found that buying a new iPod was a good choice. I did think about the nano, but only one will hold the amount of songs I have. The one that does is the 8 gig black mini. However, it costs $249. I then noticed that the 30 gig video iPod also costs $249. Since I am was not worried about size, I purchased a 30 gig video iPod. I am glad I did. It is just a little bigger than my mini, but holds 5 times more music, and also videos, and has a color screen. The one thing I liked about the mini was that it had an aluminim housing. If you get a video iPod, be sure to get a good iSkin case for it to help keep it safe. After owning the 30 gig iPod for a while, I have really enjoyed it. I haven't had any issues with it at all.

  • Upgrade issues - new ipod with existing itunes

My previous 20GB ipod died and I have bought a 5th generation 30GB. When I try to install the new software using the disc provided in the box, I get the following dialogue box:
"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel."
If I do this, will it erase all of my songs on the pc? I have Windows XP. If so, can anyone tell me how to update the software for the new ipod without losing my current personal library of songs?

    Hi Jjonty,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
You shouldn't have to download more software (iTunes)
since you already had an iPod. Did you upgrade your
iTunes to the latest version? You
should be able to just hook your iPod up to your
computer and have it work. I am a Mac user so I am
not positive how your PC works with the iPod.
    Jon
Excellent. Thank you. Seems to be working beuatifully on downloading the whole catalogue. Great news as I have been going through iPod commuting withdrawal.
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I appreciate it.

  • 2nd Gen iPod with Vertical Screen Lines

I've got a 2g iPod (10 gig) that has vertical lines in the screen that no longer work. This a monochrome lcd so I figured that it was a faulty connection between the board and the glass. So I opened my iPod to investigate. there's a plastic ribbon connector sheet with embeded metal connectors that go from the main board to the screen. It looks like pressure from the click wheel's outer ring has stressed the 'wires' in the plastic sheet.
The ribbon connector is folded into a Z shape going from the bottom of the screen to the PCB. If I push up (as in from the bottom toward the firewire port) on the fold in the connection ant the bottom of the screen, all my screen lines, one by one, quickly jump into action and begin functioning normally. However I haven't found a way to make this permanent. I don't expect there's any way to replace the plastic connector. I think the more I move it the more stressed and broken the wires will become.
Has anyone ever fixed an iPod with this problem. Any experience with fixing or working around this type of ribbon connector problem?
I'll be working on it tonight but I want to see if anyone has any suggestions.

Well I decided it's definitely a manufacturing error. Every time the menu button is pressed it pushes down the connector a fraction of a milimeter. The button has a small shroud like protrusion. While I can press the wire in and regain my missing lines temporarily, it's clear that doing so further damages the wires. Apparently there's no way to hold the wire in place with pressure because the menu button is in the way (nothing can fit between them).
Anyway I can only see 2 lines of the bite of the apple when my iPod starts up. I fully expect that this will only get worse. Any help, history or suggestions are welcome.

  • New Ipod (with video) crashes my Windows PC

I have just bought the new Ipod and have to say I am generally very impressed. However, whenever I connect it to my PC (Dual core AMD64 with 2GB RAM) after about 10 mins of streaming music, video, or data transfer my machine either freezes or reboots itself. This is the first time a usb device has done this to my pc and I use a few. Therefore I strongly doubt that it is something wrong with my pc. Does anyone else experience something similar? Anyone found a way to stop it? Do Apple recognise these sorts of problems if they dont affect Apple macines? For example if it doesnt crash a mac, it must be the PC. If anyone can offer me some answers I would appreciate it

How many other USB devices do you heavily use? If you can copy all that to a USB HD (other than the iPod) for 20 minutes and it doesn't hang then perhaps the iPod/itunes combo has a problem. If its a bug in the firmware as you suggest, then many more people would be having the issue. Also just try copying data to the ipod as if it were a HD and see if it hangs, that mostly removes the iTunes portion of the equation.
New devices can sometimes bring to light driver and other issues that weren't there before. For example: On my iMac G5, I had just connected up a new Firewire Pioneer dvd burner and I was burning coasters left and right and locking things up. It wasn't until I noticed that having the iSight on the same bus caused the crash. Granted, it shouldn't do this period, but it showed that a combination of circumstances caused my issue.

  • New iPod with G4 12" / Tiger

I just bought a new iPod nano to replace my ceaselessly malfunctioning Mini.
It wants me to download the latest iTunes software. My Software Update says my software is up to date. When I download iTunes 10 it says I can't install it because it wants Leopard. I don't want Leopard, I just want to play my music.
Can I put my music onto this new iPod or not?

Okay so the constantly malfunctioning Mini isn't the computer to which you are referring for transferring iTunes.
Again, the easiest way is to put your G4 into Target Disk Mode, then copy the entire iTunes folder across to the same relative location in your account on the new Mini. This is assuming that you let iTunes manage your music on your G4 and all the files are in the iTunes folder. It also assumes you don't have anything you care about in the iTunes folder on the new Mini if you then replace that folder. By copying the folder 'en masse' you are including the artwork, and the library files which contain all the information about music, playlists, etc.
What are the iTunes library files? - [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660] talks about where files are usually located.
[iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Music folder|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449] - Apple support document, outlining a process that may be a bit more involved than is necessary for most.
If you haven't done a lot of personal configuring of how iTunes manages your media you can go with the simple version here:

  • Using New ipod with itunes 6.5

I just got a new 30gb ipod video and i do not want to install itunes 7.0 (due to all the problems and things its been having) and when i plug my ipod into my computer and open itunes i get the error message " The ipod can not be used because it requires itunes version 7.0 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of itunes" Is there any way i can make my ipod work with itunes version 6.0.5.20. and not updating to Itunes version 7.0

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
    You can get 10.6.8 here:
