New Ipod won't come up in Itunes

I dropped my old ipod in the toliet (long story) so today i went out and bought a new one. I fully charged it in my wall charger...but when i connect it to the computer, it does not come up in itunes or windows.
I updated itunes and quicktime. ( I dont want to loose all my music by deleting itunes then reinstalling it.
How do I make it work?!?

One thing you can try to do is force it into disk mode THEN connect it to your computer as per these instructions...

Uninstalling/ reinstalling iTunes does not affect your music. You may also want to consider reinstalling the iPod software that came with your iPod, as well as restoring the iPod. Instructions here:

I have the most recent version of iTunes, and when I connect, it takes me to a screen that tells me to restore my iPod. I click restore, it downloads an update, and then an error message comes up and says "The iPod 'iPod' could not be restored because the firmware file was corrupt." PLEASE HELP!! This is my first iPod and I just got it two hours ago and I'm so anxious to get it up and running!

My IPod shuffle 4th Gen Charges but won't come up in itunes or turn on?

I have bought an IPod shuffle 4th gen and it won't come up in Itunes and it won't turn on, in Itunes it just had a red light and when I unplugg it, no light at all.

Did it previously work with your computer and iTunes? Or is this brand new, never previously connected to your computer?

Then, shut down your computer (power off) and start it up, with iPod shuffle NOT connected. Run iTunes. Then, try connecting the iPod shuffle again.
If that iPod is less than one year old, it is under warranty. You can contact Apple (or make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar) to see about getting it replaced (if it's broken).

After upgrading to Windows 8 . I was having the same issue. I uninstalled all Apple related software from PC. downloaded Itunes from the Apple website. It reinstalled all the software that I removed through the itunes download. Opened itunes and there was my phone completely recognized and ready to backup to icloud or pc.

I bought a brand new 5th gen ipod and installed the software and it only installed the ipod updater, so as i already have a 3rd gen ipod and itunes on the computer i uninstalled all ipod and itunes software that had previously been downloaded and started again from scratch with the new ipod. This time it downloaded itunes as well as the ipod software but did not ask me if my new ipod needed configuring. After restarting my computer as suggested i connected the new ipod to the computer and it shows up on windows as new hardware been installed but nothing else happens. It doesn't show up in itunes or ipod updater, however the old ipod does.
Can anyone please help me?

New iPod touch issues. not recognizing in iTunes

i just got a new ipod touch and installed everything and itunes will not recognize the ipod. I went on support and tried what it said by holding down the sleep button and the home button at the same time until the apple appeared and then closing out of itunes and opening it up and plugging the ipod back in which helped it to recognize. the ipod then went into recovery mode and said it needed to be restored. Restoration began however, the connect ipod to itunes screen disppeared leaving a lit up and black screen and a window appeared in the "preparing ipod for restoration" stage that said "ipod could not be restored. an unknown error occured (1604). any ideas? oh and then the thing on the side that said ipod disappeared and it stopped recognizing the ipod again.

Error 1604 points at a problem with your USB drivers/connection.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.

On your phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Should take but a minute & the phone will look just like it did when first taken out of the box.

It appears that you are trying to sync too much media to the iPod. Check your checkmarks. Also see:

Connect the iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side you can use the Music tab to select which of your music that you want on the iPod.

Does it charge?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

Brand new iPod Shuffle is not recognized by iTunes and Win XP Laptop

I have iPod nano and iTunes 7. Just got a brand new iPod Shuffle (2nd Gen). Neither iTunes nor my laptom recognize the iPod Shuffle - it is not even getting charged. I tried all the tips from the offical support, but nothing works.
Should I just throw it away and get a new one or is there a way to make it work?

My iPod won't show up in any computer at all, so I have read all the articles here in Support, and none of them give me a solution. I need to restore my iPod but I can't cause doesn't appear in the source list in iTunes. Do I have to send it to Technical Support? You can try putting it into disk mode to see if it makes it easier on iTunes to recognize it.
To put your iPod into disk mode:
1) make sure your hold switch is OFF (NO ORANGE SHOWING)
2) hold the menu button and the center button at the same time for about 6-10 seconds until you see an apple logo
3) AS SOON AS you see the apple logo, release the two buttons and hold down center and play/pause
4) If you've done this properly you should now see Disk Mode Ok To Disconnect with a checkmark (when connected to your computer you should see Do Not Disconnect with Disk Mode at the top)
After you have the iPod in disk mode...see if iTunes picks it up then.

It appears that you're receiving a message that your iPod nano can't be identified properly, and you've already tried removing and reinstalling iTunes. You've also isolated this behavior to only one of your PCs.
If the issue persists, there are some additional tips in this article that may help, including verifying that the Apple Mobile Device Support service installed properly and is running:

The "Learn More" section also mentions some other potentially conflicting software to look for on your PC.
