New ipod won't make a library on  my Windows ME comp.

what should i do to get it to work?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Windows Me? The iPod is not officially supported on Windows Me. Apple's requirements for iPod are Windows XP or Windows 2000 SP4.
There are third party programs like Xplay, Anapod which allows your iPod to work with Windows Me. The latest version of Winamp (5.21) also supports iPod directly and it should run on Windows Me.
You can try them if you insist on using Windows Me. The best way is to upgrade to Windows XP or use another PC with Windows XP, of course.

  • My new ipod won't synch or restore

My new ipod won't synch. It comes up need to restore, then can't be restored.  Error code 9.  Security disabled.

Error 9: This error occurs when the device unexpectedly drops off the USB bus and communication stops. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB isolation troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
    Try a different computer.

    Don't know why you would.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like.

  • Will my new Ipod synch with a shared library on home sharing?

Will my new Ipod synch with a shared library on home sharing?

You would need to drag the shared library into that computers library so that you now have it to sync over to the idevice.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

    Hello SandyJeanne,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.

  • New ipod won't sync purchased music from itunes library

I just purchased a new ipod and when I try to sync my library it will not transfer any purchased songs that are in my library.  All the songs are checked and I selected sync all music.

Do these purchased tracks play in iTunes?  What other options do you have enabled from under the Summary and Music tabs for your iPod?  Are you saying non-iTunes purchased tracks sync okay?

  • New 60GB iPod won't update my Library of Music

    Hello
Just purchased a new 60gb iPod with video, hooked it up to my eMac via the very slow USB cable (provided). The iPod mounts onto my desktop, then after just 2 song imports, I get the following error msg, despite me not touching the iPod or cable:
"DEVICE REMOVAL: The device you removed was not properly put away. Data might have been lost or damaged. Before you unplug your device, you must first select its icon in the Finder and choose Eject from the File menu."
I tried another cable but got the same error. I have over 16gb of music to load onto my new iPod, any thoughts how to resolve the issue. My old 2nd generation iPod is looking very attractive at the moment.
    Thanks!
NOTE: I've updated my iTunes to the latest version.

You cable isn't slow but your USB ports are. The eMac has USB 1.1 ports, USB 2 which is considerably faster is recommended for the iPod Video.
    Mac System Requirements
    • Built-in USB port (USB 2.0 recommended)
    • Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later

My iPod mini got stolen in the airport a couple of weeks ago on my way to Chicago. While there, I broke down and bought a new 20g iPod with color display. Now, my computer will not recognize my new ipod. I've tried deleting and reinstalling, but errors flash up, and when I finally managed it, it simply will not recognize my new ipod. I'm at the end of my rope, and having severe iPod withdrawal...

  • Setting up new iPod with my existing iTunes library?

    Hello all --
This may be a simple question, but I just wanted to play it safe. My original iPod (a classic) has more or less died, so I think I'm going to have to buy a new one. I have a rather large iTunes library and want to make sure I can move my song collection to my new iPod (I haven't purchased it yet).
Is there any trick to it? Or, once my computer recognizes the new iPod, can I just simply click-and-drag the songs to the new, empty iPod?
I'm not going to lose any songs, right? The last thing I'd want to do is have to copy all of my songs from my CD to my computer again.
Please let me know. Thanks so much!

You just connect the new iPod. iTunes will actually bring up a dialog asking if you want to sync your iTunes library to the new iPod, and let you name the iPod.
once my computer recognizes the new iPod, can I just simply click-and-drag the songs to the new, empty iPod?
If you want to do it manually and set the iPod to +manually manage music+, you can. Just say no when iTunes asks if you want to sync. But I suggesting using the automatic sync, unless you have a reason for using the manual "drag and drop" method.
Also, you should go into the iPod DEVICE tabs (in iTunes) to set up how you want to handle videos, podcasts, contacts, etc.

  • New iPod won't turn on.

Okay so about a month ago my second iPod Touch that I owned for about 1-2 years got the white screen of death and I had to bring it in and buy a new one. It was already another replacement iPod that I had gotten for free because of a jack problem with my first iTouch, so it was free then. So I couldn't exchange my second white-screened one because I was obviously past the warranty and bought a brand new iTouch. Pretty much the day after I began using the newest, third, paid-for iTouch, I began experiencing problems. The screen was really glitchy right off the bat and would like be disoriented  and like distorted on the lock screen and at other times it would be completely grayish but would still register my touch. I would just restart the iTouch or wait for the glitch to die down and then it would work perfectly. This has gone on for like a month. Now today, I encountered the grayish screen and tried to restart by holding the home and power buttons as usual simultaneously and there was no effect. Just black. It won't turn on now... I tried docking it in the computer and restarting again and just using the power button and nothing is working. I am pretty much upset because I really feel cheated if I have to buy a new iPod touch for like 200-300 some dollars right after I JUST GOT A NEW ONE. Basically, money wasted. Is there any way that I can just exchange this junk one for a new one? Making me buy a total new iPod after I was given a faulty replacement seems pretty harsh. Also, the fact that I'm only 14 and my parents will volunteer to pay for it for me makes me feel bad, like I'm wasting their money. Is there any way (by default possibly) that I could just be given a new free one because it was acting up right away? Any answers appreciated. I'm just really disappointed.

Yes, I tried that, but seeing what you said I tried again and held the buttons for awhile longer and it worked this time. I guess it just needed longer to reset or somthing. thanks.

  • I JUST SYNCED MY NEW IPOD TOUCH TO MY ITUNES LIBRARY BUT iT WONT LET ME EDIT THE MUSIC ON THE IPOD.  i WANT TO MANUALLY ADD AND DELETE CERTAIN PLAYLIST OR SONGS/

I have a new ipod touch replacing an old damadged one.  I have it synced to my computer but I cant edit the songs in my playlist on my ipod or delete any playlist.  I also can not create new playlist for the ipod

Click on the iPod under DEVICES... is the "Manually Manage Music and Videos" box checked? You may have to scroll down to see it. You want to make sure this box is checked.

  • Bought a Brand New iPod touch, my entire music library WILL NOT SYNC (stuck on waiting for changes)

I just bought a new ipod touch, and I'm really struggling to not throw this thing against the wall.
My music won't sync. Its stuck on "Waiting for Changes to be applied"
Im not trying to sync anything else, no video, pictures, apps, anything. Just music. My old iPod touch syncs just fine. I can't restore it, because the restore takes it back to when I was setting the ipod up. I factory reset my ipod many times. I've tried manually syncing songs individually but it hangs on the same spot.
My mac is up to date, my ipod is up to date, my itunes is up to date. What the **** can I do?

I have been able to get SOME songs on by doing artist one by one. I also took off all album art. I have only 10 songs or so that I have bought so this is all my own stuff. I just bought a refurbished ipod touch from the apple store. It seems weird to me that it is not all ipods, just some and with the searching I have done, it was mainly Sept to Nov of last year there was issues.... I feel like returning my ipod and hoping I get one with no issues.
