New ipods not working, but old ones do?

Here is the situation:
New 2G nano won't mount with toshiba laptop
(satellite a105) running xp home.
Will mount elsewhere on other computers running xp
home and pro.
5G ipods and 1G nanos mount fine.
itunes 7.0.1
tried every usb port.
here's the interesting part... my 80gig ipod won't
mount either. must be something with the new
firmware/hardware.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening?
solutions hopefully less drastic than a reinstall of
windows or sending ipod back?

Ok How old is the laptop? After looking at the Toshiba website it looks like it has USB 2.0 ports. But if yours is an older issue it might be a problem.

Looks like a Bios Update is in order.

New GPU not supported but old one is...

About a year ago I upgraded my edit suite with 24GB RaM and 3 - nVidia GeForce GTX 660Ti GPUs in SLI to allow for faster rendering in 3D projects. I have an old Quadro FX 5800 left over from the upgrade. I went to tech support and sent an email into a black hole asking the following questions.
Why is this card that runs circles around my old card not supported?
Is there an update that might be in the works in the near future?
The main reason for upgraded to CC was to enable GPU acceleration on renders. So far, I'm not all that impressed with the move from CS5 "all the way" to CC other than getting rid of Soundbooth for Audition.

Adobe Premiere CC will enable the GPU acceleration whether the card is on the supported list or not. It just gives you a warning that it's not. The supported list is simply the video cards Adobe ahs tested themselves. That doesn't mean they are the only cards that will work. Adobe updates the supported list on occasion depending on the priority of testing the hardware. Once the higher end Geforce cards are supported the mid level ones become a lower priority to validate since they likely will work as well.

New ipod not working on old itunes

i just had my ipod replaced and not only will it not load on to my itunes, but but itunes doesn't even want to open. it is telling me to reintall my itunes, but will i lose all of my music if i do this? or should i back everything onto disc before i reinstall?

reinstalling iTunes should not be a problem. However, things have gone wrong for some users so backup first. Backup you itunes.itl file also to retain playlists and ratings.

I want to sync a second ipod touch to itunes, however my daughter has some how registered the new ipod under my sons old one, she has deleted asll content and i have now reset it, how do i stop it being recognised as the old one

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
Sync your library.

I received a new iPod. My daughter is inheriting the old one and she has no interest in my music - surprise! I want to wait to load the new before wiping the old.
Can I load the new one before wiping the old - just in case?

Toots, first thing to do is buy a keyboard with punctuation marks. They are really quite cheap these days and will help to make your posts much more readable. I would also pick a model with the ability to turn the cap lock key off.

Help with ipod classic 80gb 2nd new ipod not working

I need some help with my ipod, this is the second ipod I have had in the same number of weeks the first one worked fine for about 8 days and then when syncing one night it froze and then would not disconnect, I searched the support section and worked how to reset the ipod which | did many times, in the end I restored the ipod to the factory settings and synced again the end result of this was that the ipod would not turn on despite everything that I tried. The apple log would appear and the ipod would then try desperatley to switch itself on with the apple logo appearing and disappering all the time. Apple have replaced the ipod and I have fully charged the new ipod synced it this evening all was ok, the ipod synced and then told me to disconnect and the same thing is happening again I have tried to reset multiple times and all that happens now is the apple logo appears and disappers it will not switch on or off, itunes keeps telling me that it cannot recognise the ipod at this time and the safely remove section on my task bar on my computer is telling me that the ipod has malfunctioned. can anyone help? am I doing something wrong someone suggested that I should have downloaded itunes once I had my ipod and not before, I have about 20GB of music in itunes and I was not aware that you needed to use or own an ipod to use this music storage system

well it looks like you might have a tech issue here; try to return the ipod and choose a different store and buy one ... also try to uninstall itunes totally, back up your songs on a CD or DVD, and then re-install a fresh new copy of itunes ... this might work ... good luck!

DVI cable not working, but VGA one will. Graphics card problem?

Ok so. I have a Mac Pro with ATi 1900XT card. Was using a Samsung LCD for a while, via a DVI-VGA adapter. Works fine. Two days ago, I attached another monitor, a DGM, to the second DVI port using a DVI lead; the one supplied with the monitor. Everything worked fine.
Then today, I tried the same thing, but the second monitor only works at one particular resolution; 1280x800 or something. And the picture is a bit crappy. So, I tried with only the DGM monitor plugged in the first DVI port. Apple symbol at start up, and then just a black screen.
Swapped over to a VGA lead, and everything works perfectly again.
So, is the problem with the cable, the monitor, or the graphics card?
Maybe the cheapo cable is just not very good? But why it works only at one resolution? Weird. And it did flicker on at a couple of other resolutions, but went off again. And even at the one resolution it worked at, there was a secondary 'mirror' image of part of the screen, at one side of the screen.
Very strange, considering it worked perfectly before.
Oh, and I upgraded the Mac Pro's firmware yesterday. Could this have anything to do with things?

Are you trying to use a DVI Splitter? I do not think that a DVI Splitter would work with a Single Link Displayport TO DVI Adapter. I do not think a Dual Link Displayport To DVI Adapter would work with a DVI Splitter.

Not sure, if the x201can handle 3 monitors in this fashion. StarTech.com says the GPU determines the support according to the youtube video.
It is pretty expensive,and it would be nice to know the limit.

Buying a new ipod, and selling my old one to a friend.

I have a 32 gig ipod touch.I plan to buy a 64 gig ipod touch.Do i need to do a restore on the 32 gig , to wipe my music and apps, so i can put them on my new ipod? Also when i connect the new ipod I assume it will recognize it as a new ipod , and my friends computer will do the same.

Yes I would do a restore and then just hand it over to him. He can then activate it and sync it to his library. Then your new one you'll do the same thing.
You could just do a reset, which would delete all content and return it to a default state. But anytime I sell one I do a restore because this just allows them to start with an almost new setup. Most of the time it is a lot less problematic.
It is honestly a pretty painless process!

yes, if you're using the same account again, iTunes will recognize the old backup after setting up the new ipod and ask you, if you would like to use this backup to restore from.

Degrade Theme. New one does not work as old one did

I do not prefer the large icons that areo fox theme is providing. I want to degrade the theme. I dont use this computer that often (once a week). I have been using it for years and I just want this theme to feel natural

As for your question, you need to contact the theme's author for support. You should be able to find old version of the theme in addons.mozilla.org, if that's where the theme is stored.

Can't get new interactions to work (but previous ones work just fine...)

I'm making an interactive wire frame/prototype in which I have build some "text entry fields" by using the simple contact form and making everything in it but some single line form fields invisble.
The first one worked just fine. In preview, I could see the different stages and type in the fields.
But then I copy-pasted the entire contact form - and those form fields are only seen in the normal state, when I preview. All though I got several states - nothing happens when I try to mouse over them, click them or type in them... In fact I have noticed, that after a specific time, when I was working yesterday, all new interactions that I try to embed, doesn't work (incl. photoshop button and object states), but those build before that time, work as usual...
I have tried making interactions in a new site - and there everything works fine.
Have I maybe accidentally changed some site properties? ...is it a bug? ...or?

Does anyone know this problem?
I have had it for three days now, and it keeps expanding to other pages as well... At the moment I'm almost giving up on muse. There is not really any point in spending time on Muse, if I can't make my site interactive anyway...
I would appreciate any quick help

How do I track an old (stolen) ipod touch if I already synced a new ipod touch with the old information without knowing it would not allow me to track my old ipod but my new one instead?

I lost my iPod touch (4th generation) over a week ago and did not think I installed the icloud on it. When I was setting up my new iPod touch (4th generation),
I saw that it automatically shows an option for icloud. That made me realize that I probably did install icloud in my old ipod. The problem is that I synced my old ipod with my new ipod on the computer. I thought if I didn't I would loose all of my old infomation. So now evertyime I use the app to find my iPod, it finds my new one. It shows only one device located under it. Is there a way I could find the old iPod? Or could I restore my new iPod and find the old one that way? I'm afraid if I restore it I would loose all my information from my old ipod.

That makes no difference in finding/tracking your lost/stolen device.
The old device will only show up in icloud.com if you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order
