New ISO update on old devices
Has anyone found a solution to the problem of updating with the new software on an iPad2 ?
Since updating to the new software, my iPad no longer works properly. It it is difficult to turn on, jumps all over the place, and is immensely difficult to go for one app area to another due to its slowness. Help!
Many iPad 2 users have reported good results from resetting their device back to factory default condition, by using their iTunes program. Basically it turns out that many times people have corrupted files in their operating system and perhaps other files that are garbage files, that seem to cause some problems. What you'll be doing is updating with a "clean system install" and putting a "fresh system" on your iPad and getting rid of all the old files in your operating system. Installing an upgrade on top of an old system isn't always a good idea. Many people do it without problems, as I did with my later model, but it can also cause problems. I recommend a "clean system install" at least once a year, no matter if you have any problems or not. It's just a good idea to be operating with a "clean system".
Here are some Apple Support documents for doing your backups, so do understand how to do those, as it will make sure you save your data. An iTunes backup is preferable, so read up on that one. Then the last link in the list shows you how to do the clean system install with your iTunes program. As I said, many people have reported good results from it, but I can't know if it will definitely solve your problem, until you actually do it. But, as I also said, I would recommend that even if you had no problems at all ... :-) ...

I am trying to restore information on an older Iphone and am running into the difficulty of restoring my backup. The backup says its incompatible with the iOS on the old phone so it will not let me choose the latest iphone backup. Is there a way to update my old iPhone before I restore that backup? I already have tried to sync it with the latest version of ITunes. I am nervous to restore to an older backup in case the newer backup will not show up again.
What you have to first do is update your old phone using iTunes. Once done: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to use that backup.

New iTunes update and old podcasts
With the new iTunes update, all of my OLD podcasts are back on the list, apparently in the cloud. I do not want all of these old episodes showing up after I delete them but there is no longer a delete option when I highlight the unwanted episodes and right click. How do I hide old episodes from my podcast list?
I have the same problem. My podcasts show up under podcasts in itunes but not on my ipod and I have to search under music when I want to listen to them. It's a pain. Someone please help.

Hi denise mfrompalatine,
If your iPhone won't turn on, try the steps in the resource below:

When I first plugged my new iphone into itunes and tried restoring from my old device it said I couldn't becauas my old device's software was too old. I then updates my old device. I plugged in my new phone and accidently chose to treat it as 'new' as apposed to restore up from old device. I do I now restore all my apps and what not from my old phone?
Aa long as your Backup file is still the Backup from your earlier iPhone you will have no problem in Restoring your iPhone from that earlier Backup. There are many reasons that owners would choose to Restore to Factory Settings (as New) and then go back and Restore their Backup content. If you connect your iPhone to iTunes use the iTunes pulldown menus at the top left of the iTunes Screen looking for your Device and then the available Backup Files will show and you can select the one that relates to the date of the Backup you want.
You will NOT need to Erase any content to do this.
On my iTunes on my Mac it is under File>Devices>Backup -
How can i update my old 2006 iMac Intel core 2 duo running 10.6.8 to OSX Lion so that I can sync using iCloud with my newer devices? Mountain Lion is not an option for my older model and Lion is no longer available at App store.
Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

I recently changed my internet service provider and my e mail address. I updated my iTunes account with the new e mail. Now I cannot get updates on my devices, because the login box on each device still contains my old e mail, and I do not know how to change this How can I change this please?
Try tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your devices (Settings > Store if they aren't on iOS 6+) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on them.

How do I transfer all photos and music from my old iphone 3gs to new iphone 4s? I have a new laptop because the old one broke and so do not have non camera roll photos or music stored anywhere apart from the iphone 3gs and cannot update io5 on the iphone 3gs without erasibng everything. i need help!!!
Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Hello,
Anyone can point me out on some proper steps to connect my new iPhone5c to my old MacBook running an updated 10.6 OS? Cannot make the iPhone to connect to he MacBook (Bluetooth) even the latter has already paired the new device and it seems ready to use.
The iPhone only want to forget the device (my MacBook) while it cannot connect to it.
I also created a WiFi network on my MacBook and joined the iPhone to it - cannot see it anywhere.
I have connected the iPhone to the Macbook using the provided USB cable but Finder does not show the iPhone, that only presented me with the option to trust or not the Computer the moment I plugged in the USB cable.
Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong?
Thx,
IulUnless you're trying to Tether, your phone won't pair with your Mac...file transfer, by Bluetooth, is not supported.
Your phone won't appear in Finder, as Disk mode is not supported on any iPhone. -
I have a new computer and a old iphone 4 that hasn't been updated in a long time. I logged into itunes on my new computer and plugged in my phone and there is no option to sync. ;( suggestions?
The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. the exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old comptuer, to your new one. -

I just changed my apple ID because I needed to change my e mail account. My new ID updated on all of my devices except for iCloud on my phone. My phone however will not recognize my new Apple ID for iCloud? Any suggestions?
To change the iCloud ID on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the new ID. If you only changed your ID and didn't create an entirely new ID, you can choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted. Your data will download back to your phone when you sign back in.
Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll before deleting the account. Deleting the account deletes the photo stream photos from your phone.
