New issue with 3G network

Hey guys, I live in Flagstaff, AZ which until recently has not had a 3G network. Today noticed that the phone connected to a 3G network when I turned it on, so I guess that 3G has been expanded. Unfortunately while connected to 3G in Flagstaff the phone will not browse the internet or the apps store (it appears that no data is moving, it just sits there trying to load a page for a while, then says it can't connect) and voice calling is terrible (apparently my voice breaks up a lot on the other end, though I can hear whoever I'm calling just fine). I have used 3G in other places and it works just fine for voice and data, so my question is this: is this an issue with my phone not working right, or is there an issue with the 3G network here? Maybe it was just turned on and isn't working right yet?
Thanks.

You isolated it right away
If 3G is working in other areas with no voice breaks, or data issues. And only in Flagstaff, then the performance of 3G is isolated to that area not the iPhone.
It may be possible at&t is still working on that area and are powering some of the towers up for testing purposes.

If you enter your area, then check mark the 3G box, you will see currently no 3G in that area. At least according to their map.

  • Image Ultra Builder 3.x issue with T61 Network Driver load

    Hello,
I am having issues with a Network deployment of an image on a T61 (7659-12U) During the intial boot up phase with the Network Boot disk that was created from IUB, I receive and error 1231 - The Network Location cannot be reached..  I am currently using IUB for deployment of A31, T40/42 as well as the T60 model line. None of these loads are having the problem.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated.
    Thank-you in advance.
    Ed

    Hi,
IUB 4.01 is using WINPE 2.0<Vista based> and IUB 3.1 was using WINPE 1.0/1.1<XP Based>.
This has nothing to do with the actual image deployment. It's just that the WINPE looks more like
Vista. And this is why the method changed after you updated from 3.0/3.1 to 4.00/4.01.
To answer your questions from before:
    1) Does updating IUB to version 4.01 still allow me to deploy Windows XP ?
Yes, it's still supported and possible.
    2) Where on the boot CD should the new driver files be located. I took this to be PREBOOT\DRIVERS ?
As the new IUB is using WINPE 2.0, the best location for the NIC drivers is the file :
    tvtos\winpe.wim
    However, this is my advice.!
For my Image deployment I'm no longer using the CD for network deployment. I'm using USB key which gives me more options for the image deployment and the automatization of the deployment process.
However, if you want to use CD for network deployment, then you can do it in following way.
!!!NOTE: this is not the offical way, nor the supported way, but trust me, that it's working like charm !!!
    - go to your repository location %repositorylocation%\modules
    - find the file called "Z633003A.TVT" and open it using your fav zip application
    - after you open this file, go to following location: tvtos\
    - extract the "winpe.wim" and using WAIK unmount this file and add the NIC drivers into this .wim file
    - after all the drivers are in the winpe.wim file, just copy it back to the "Z633003A.TVT" file and create a new Deployment CD
How to add NIC driver using WAIK:
This is prety easy step, but for more info, check following link:
    http://www.svrops.com/svrops/articles/winvistape2.htm
As I described earlier, I'm using USB key for Network image deployment, so I have not done it this way, but I have done it a bit simplier.
    Here are my steps:
    - created a Distribution USB key <suing the same method, that you are using when you create a Network deployment CD, but instead of a CD I select my USB key>
    - once the USB key was created successfully I unmount the "tvtos\winpe.wim" file and add all the NIC dirvers into it
This is all that I have done.
Yes, of course there are couple other steps, that I do, like modifying the BCD file, adding other WINPE files, diagnostics and other deployment tools, however, this is not realy a part of IUB, I'm using it for my WDS server and other deployment tools, that I need to use. If you know, what I mean, then you surely understand, that it's a live safer to have everything on one USB key, then on multiple CD where I need to search throught all of then to find the correct CD.
Let me know, whether this method is more suitable for you.
As described above, this is not the realy official/supported way, but it's working for sure.

Has anyone else had issues with phone network being unavailable on iPhone 4 since updating to iOS 5.0.1? My iPhone 4 is continually searching for a network and does not find AT&T, my provider. I swapped SIM cards with another iPhone 4 running ios 4 and established this is a device problem, not a SIM card problem.

Does the device get any signal?
Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure.  If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty.

  • Why does FF save files to desktop, when I have "downloads" checked in options? This is a new issue with the latest version 3.6.3 Windows XP Thanks.

Why does FF save files to desktop, when I have "downloads" checked in options? This is a new issue with the latest version 3.6.3 . Using Windows XP Driving me nuttier! Thanks.
(Is is that MicroNetFrame Asst thing?)
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== When I installed latest version

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help.
It was just a hunch that MircoNetFrame was causing the problem. I disabled it as you suggested, and I still have the problem.
I just changed under Tools>Options> General - had checked "ask me every time" under downloads, so instead of asking me, FF saved the download to I know not where. It no longer saves it to the desktop, leaving a duplicate in "my documents".
In windows, I have found unless one knows the entire name of the document, one can never find anything. It isn't listed under recent ''''''__. I can't recall the nomenclature, but the
capability is ridiculous. So, I don't know where that file I just downloaded is!
I downloaded a PDF file, but this happens with all DL's. It was so easy to have them all stacked in one place and I could recall
what I had and when I downloaded it easily.
Do you have any other suggestions other that going back to the old version of FF, which I would rather not do?
Thanks again for your time, it is very considerate to help a complete stranger, I must say. Sounds like something I might do! Cheers!

  • Website Owner having new issues with Clients and Windows 8

I own a website that has a home-programmed chat. We've been in business about 12 years without any issues with compatibility. The chat is programmed in C and runs in a standard browser.
Lately I've had a few users (3 or 4) that have upgraded their machines and can no longer run the chat.
Most users that use Windows 8, or 7, or Vista, or whatever, have no problems. They can use the latest versions of IE, Firefox, Chrome, whatever they choose.
However, these users with problems can use none of the above.
I've gone through standard programs that block a chat, like firewalls and other spyware preventions. Shutting these off doesn't resolve the problem. Conflicting programs doesn't seem to be an issue, either. They aren't touch screen so I don't believe it
is a problem with the video card.
So that brings me back to the OS. The common thread seems to be that they are HP computers, and they have a new install of Windows 8. I think that there might be a missing DLL or other C Library that HP's installation of Windows 8 might be lacking.
Any suggestions on if I'm on the right track, and more importantly, how do I fix this problem?

    Hi,
Seems this is a web-based chatting program, I suggest you add the site to a compatibility view list, (launch IE, Tools\Compatibility View list) then check this issue again. Check the error message and infromation recorded in the event viewer to find out
    the cause.
Make sure the computers have all the latest updates, especially for video and audio drivers.
Clear the cache\temporary internet files in IE, or test this issue in a no add-ons mode.
From your description, it also sounds like a "defect\bug" for the chatting-program on Windows 8 on HP computers, if so, it should be related with development. you may find more help in the developer forum

  • X200 WWAN (f3507g) compatibility issue with Juniper Network Connect VPN

I have just recently received my X200 with the build-in WWAN which is a Ericsson f3507g card and found that it causes my Juniper VPN software unable to load, and I have also noticed other applications like Outlook is rather slow.  When I "Disabled" the WWAN card in "Device Manager"->"Network Adapters", all apps work perfectly.  I am using 32-bit Vista Business.
Can someone test and see if you have the same problem as mine?  I am wondering if this is a driver issue of the f3507g WWAN card.

    Hello
I have just spent all day trying to work out why Outlook takes forever to connect on initial start. It was purely by luck/perseverance that I happened to notice an "ipconfig" stuck for a second on LAN2 - which is the ericsson card.
I too then disabled this adapter and found Outlook performance cured. I had popped along to these forums to find a fix but at least I can verify the issue with you.
Bloody annoying since I've only had the X301 1 day - I bought it for use whilst my X300 is having its wireless-freezing issue sorted. Not a good advert for Lenovo I think.

I recently upgraded to Lion and now everytime I restart my wireless network (Time Capsule) is not recongized and I must manually select it. I have the same issue with my magic mouse, although it does reconginze my bluetooth keyboard. What can I do to fix the issue?

Yes, same WiFi problem with safe mode. Everything was perfect until the upgrade to Lollipop. Now WiFi speed is 1/10 of before, and phone is slow in general. realy sad, sometimes even whatsapp messages takes minutes to be delivered.
Does anyone know how to select only 5ghz channel for the WiFi on the phone?

  • New Issues with Flash builder - Second time you do search from imported Tutorial file it breaks with AS error

Okay, so I had an issue with the Design View that was broke because of the <s:text> tag inside of the <s:RichText> tag. Adobe fiexed that in one of the next released builds (discussion here in fourms). So I took the tutorial file (again) and started to work on it and all went okay, except that the 'tracking' method on the ricktext tag was taken out. Forums mentioned that. So on import of the 'tutorial' fxp from FC to Flex builder, you get several errors because FC still builds the fxp file with 'tracking' property being used in the RichText tag. No biggie, i just remapped to trackingLeft property in the effected files. Now mind you in  the older build that I had this project, worked fine, with the exception of the 'design view' issue with the <s:text> file borking the design view. Bug on it said it was fixed with the next build. which it was but this now when you take the EXACT same code and compile and run it the seach will break each and everytime. Think it has or may have something to do with Adobe taking out the 'tracking' property on the richtext tag.
    anyone else having this issue?
    attaching the fxp file
btw, posted as a bug FB-21116

I can recreate the problem but I haven't seen it reported
before. WebHelp has an option that would let you avoid the input

There is information in Snippet 1 on my site about TOC
synchronisation but I don't know if it will help with FlashHelp.

I said in my last post that this is my first smartphone, and I'm having some issues with it.
I played one of the videos stored in my phone, now it won't let me play any videos, it prompts me that " Device Media Processor is Busy"...
Also I noticed tonight that I have no sounds for incoming calls, texts, etc...I went in to try and "change the ringtones and it keeps telling me "Invalid Ringtone Selected, Please make Another Selection". But the thing is, is that these are the ringtones the phone is equipped with?!?! Has anyone seen this before or have any solutions?

  • Multiple issues with Leopard (Network, Pages, iPhoto, iTunes, General)

    It's been so much fun.
I have 3 macs right now, per my profile.
I started updating the G4 because it's the experimental system, the MacPro is production, and the MacBook is for the kids and for me to wander the domain and still be productive. These Macs and some other things sit behind a Linux/iptables firewall.
1st issue: After updating the G4 certain web sites have been inaccessible, including just about any apple sites behind SSL, ADC, iTunes Music Store, iPhoto Store (calendars, books), Network Solutions, Newegg, etc. However, as of 10.4.11 on the other 2 Macs, 10.5.1 and 10.4.11 had parity, or close to it, in networking.
2nd issue: The other problem I had right off the bat was remote printing to the MacPro which has an Epson Stylus Photo printer hooked up. At the time this was first noticed, the MacPro was 10.4.11 and the computer I was attempting to print from was 10.5.1. I erroneously thought that had to do with the disparity on OS versions. Not so. The result of trying to print anything to the remote printer is the immediate cratering of the app you're printing from, Safari, Pages, Firefox, Preview. I can reproduce this at will.
3rd issue: Straight from the previous 2 issues, I can't log any problem reports. This is frustrating.
I initially didn't see the problems that I saw a lot of people registering on here, other than the ones I noted above, and as far as the networking thing went, 10.4.11 and 10.5.1 were equally cr*y. So, I bit the bullet and upgraded several things, iLife '08 (which I couldn't adequately check out on the G4), iWork '08 which I hadn't had any problems with, and Leopard on the remain 2 macs.
Issue 1 was, as expected, no better or worse, and more and more talked about on these discussions. I thing that helped, notably to allow me to finally login to the discussions, rather than just read them, was:
    sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.pathmtudiscovery=0
Thanks to mreckhof for that little gem
This helped with the login here, but didn't help with anything else. And in retrospect, 10.5.1 is much worse then 10.4.1 as far as the networking goes. When/if I expose the mac by putting it outside the firewall, it's actually much much worse than it used to be. There are several places where any of the Macs directly connected to the internet are completely useless for talking to websites, DNS, and other things. The web site problem is that more than a handful don't load. Most of these make heavy use of akamai, as apple does. The Linux Firewall and exposed Linux desktops don't have this problem.
Right now, I can't buy or use a few of the bought things from iTunes Music Store. I could not order calendars from iPhoto, which shot holes in several of our holiday gifts to friends and relatives. I can't purchase or update several things with other online vendors from the mac, where I would usually do such things. There is a veritable litany of things, real monetary that I also can't do to earn money as well now that we've upgraded, but I'll get to that.
Issue 2 and issue 3 were unchanged.
4th Issue: iPhoto lost, on import, several photos and movies. This happened just recently. Currently the iPhoto library has around 30,000 photos and videos in it spanning the last several years. it's around 500GB. The problem was that after the import was "done" and it was cleaning off the memory card, it crashed. The imported items were not successfully imported, that I can find, and the memory card was successfully cleaned off. The images and movies appear to be lost completely. The problem is that we derive some of our income from the picture. There backed up in 2 different ways, but we have to be able to trust that they'll arrive safely for the backup to work. I'm rethinking that. I can't trust I photo so memory cards are filling up.
But I thought we still could do things with iPhoto with what is there. Woe is me.
Issue 5: Using Pages 3.0.1, and dragging photos from iPhoto to it, something that has brought good success in the past, and produced some great results, stopped working reliably, in a big way.
The document in question is about 80 pages long and contains a couple hundred photos, dragged and dropped from iPhoto. On or around page 62, Pages started throwing up a "Image file ****.jpg is corrupt and cannot be used, all other photos already imported blah, blah, blah." I'm paraphrasing at the moment because 1) Pages crashes, when you're lucky, soon after this and 2) when you're not lucky, the whole computer freezes in a non-recoverable way. The system log is littered with:

There were around 100 instance of the above error in at the same timestamp.
I'm not sure where it's trying to malloc this from, but the machine has 8GB of physical ram and plenty of space for swap. It normally reports 34GB of VM and when pages is started, 6+GB of real ram is available to it.
And the image isn't corrupt. I'm able to start a fresh document up and put a few pictures into it.
I am unable to cut and paste, use the media browser or otherwise to add more than an image at a time into the document. The same is, I still have the old pages around, and we had done a very similar thing with it, several times, but this one was started with 3.0.1 and saved as a 3.0.1 document. The amount of time put into it, at this point, is non-trivial.
When things go very badly, iPhoto and Pages conspire together to lock the computer up wholly and completely. I'm unable to kill Pages, at all, from the command line. I have been able to kill iPhoto from the command line, but it doesn't change anything, and I really hate to do it. If I issue a shutdown from the command line, it doesn't something is preventing us from getting a clean shutdown.
And I've had varying degrees of success registering my products, but they're all recent purchases and I've got serial numbers that appear to all them to work even if I'm unable to send in the registration over the internet. They're family versions.
Issue 6: Now that frequent hard restarts, I have mds and mdworker tacking up several CPUs on restart for an extended period of time. I've never been able to get any clarification on what these 2 processes do, but they keep my from doing anything useful for a good long period of time. Looking at the process listing, they appear to be in the MetaDataService suite of OSX apps, and that's about all I've been able to determine looking at man pages and several searches of apple sites.
Issue 7: Only on the G4 Mac, periodically I'll get the gray overlay of "You must restart your computer now." The thing is, things still appear to work somewhat, and what I've been able to see is that one of the CPUs appears to be offline in the activity monitor, which I always have up. I'm able to quit cleanly, AFAIK, out of most of the things I have running, but can't issue a normal shutdown, always requires hard reset (power button for 8 seconds or whatever the timeframe). spindump appears to be the culprit, or instigator. The CPU going offline is troubling. Not sure if I have a CPU going bad or a software problem with an app. The logs are riddled with all kinds of errors, but nothing indicative of what the problem is in fact.
This probably won't all post, and I don't expect everyone to take a stab at any and all of the issues. Just a less than gruntled user, and long time supporter, less than impressed lately. The features are big sellers and instigated a lot of the upgrade. For instance, I love spaces, some of the new themes in iDVD, and a lot of other things. I could do without the instability.

Oh, well that was a whole other kettle of fish:
Oh the G4 I attempted to install iLife '08 before Lepoard was available. About the only thing that installed cleanly was iPhoto. I ended up reinstalling everything back to iLife '06, and then upgrading back to the current stable version of the iLife '06 version. I didn't attempt a reinstall until after I upgraded to Leopard.
When I did reinstall, I made a iLife '06 folder, copied all iLife apps into it, and upgraded. Seemed to work, except for the part where iMovie gets left behind and iDVD is only mostly functional.
When I installed on the other 2 machines, it was after installing Leopard and all upgrades. On those 2 machines, I didn't bother with the copy, I just moved everything to the iLife '06 folder I created, and did a fresh install.
I didn't have to do anything with the iPhoto Libraries, that I can recall.
I always do an upgrade, never an archive and install. I've never had a problem with this back to 10.1 or 10.2.

  • Intermittent issue with Wifi network card.

Nothing can be more annoying than an intermittent issue. Unfortunately it does happen to my MBP. This is the new MBP purchase Jan. of this year. About 2 months ago, the MBP developes a problem. The sympotom is, after powering it on, the Wifi network card sometimes suddently stop working, even cannot be recognized by the system accidently. After the problem arise, I cannot turn on wifi again. The only way to get it back is to restart it. It used to work well with my home network and company network.
I have tried every possible mean to figure out what's wrong with it. Tried SMC reset, PRAM rest. Reinstall a new OS on a new partition (per instruction from Apple support). I hate to say this is a HW issue but support people from Apple did suggest sending it to a service center for a check up.
Before I actually dropping it at service center, I wanna know if someone has experienced that before?

could not create audio connection block info.
I know error. /dev/dsp location doesn't exist. But i don't know how to change audio device location in nasd.conf file.
Thanks for help and sorry for my English.

You could use oss emulation that alsa-oss package comes with:
    cat /etc/modules-load.d/50-oss-alsa-emulation.conf
    #Alsa OSS Emulation
    snd-pcm-oss
    snd-mixer-oss
    snd-seq-oss
That would create /dev/dsp. But looking at /etc/nasd.conf you could just change the output section device from /dev/dsp to /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p or similar and mixer to controlC0 or similar.

  • New issue with iPod update 1.2

So I just got off the phone with applecare and the guy said that with all the issues that have just come up with the ipod and 1.2, this one he hasn't heard of. Any of you have it? here's the issue:
When the ipod (5 gen 30G) is turned on the screen "scrolls" like a ticker screen in times square in New York. The whole screen shifts from right to left. Sometimes all the horizontal lines of pixels don't scroll all together and it results in a "smeared" look making it unreadable. If the lock is on, it stops. If I scroll the wheel clockwise or counterclockwise the whole screen "scrolls" right to left faster. The faster I spin the wheel, the faster the screen moves. Tried everything with applecare and they can't get it to stop. It occurred IMMEDIATELY after installing the 1.2 update. (as a matter of fact while it was resyncing the red circle with the line thru it started moving across the screen).
    Anyone else encounter this?
    Tom

Try doing a restore, and if that doesn't work, you may need to return/exchange it.

  • New issue with Tiger...

I'm using Tiger (10.4.10) and all of a sudden I can't open System Profile or download upgrades or new software? Otherwise all is well!
I use Onyx and Cocktail for general maintenance... usually about once a month or when my Mac slows down.
    I could use some directions

I'd restore your backup and only perform maintenance with Macjanitor or Anacron if you find you can't leave your machine on overnight at least once a month in Screen Saver. Other functions of Onyx and Cocktail should only be used when troubleshooting very specific issues and should not be used as general maintenance software.
