'New Item' Icon

In Premiere Pro CS6 (Mac) you could drag a clip to the 'New Item' icon to automatically set it's preset.
However, when using Prmiere Pro CC (PC) I am not seeing that icon. How can one automatically set the preset as with the Mac?

Many thanks. No Sir, it is not there, it is significantly expanded. Right-clicking on any of the clips does not afford me that opportunity either....I'm clearly missing something but am at a loss to say what.
Any help greatly appreciated.

How to understand the "New Item" icon at the bottom of the Project window

I'm trying to understand that small "New Item" box at the bottom of the project window better. I'm aware that when I bring video clips into my project, if I drag them to this box, PPCS5 will add them to the timeline. I partially understand the positive reasons for doing so, primarily that PPCS5 will correctly identify the type of video being brought into the project. I know that if I select all my clips and drag them to the new item box, that all my clips will be added to the timeline at the same time and all together on the timeline. There are many things I don't understand about it. If I add my clips one by one using the "New Item" icon, they will show up as separate sequences on the timeline. If you try to add another clip at a later time, can that clip not be added using the "New Item" box? One other question is what would be the advantage in putting clips on the timeline as separate sequences? And one further question is do you drag other items to this box besides video clips? Like music, and still images?

Dragging something to the New Item icon doesn't just add that something to a sequence. It actually creates the correct sequence for the something to be added to.
You do this once, when you need a new sequence. Anything else you want to add to that sequence you do by other means.

How to align "New Item" icon

Hi all,
when I add an item to a region I can see the new item icon. In some cases the icon appears on the right of the item, in other cases it appears down the item.
Is it possible to set the alignment of "new item" icon?

Hi Marco -
If you go the region properties (click the pencil icon on the region) on the attributes/style tab, the attributes section allows you to specify the order the attributes are shown in. The "New Item Indicator" is the attribute that you will want to shuffle the position in the selected attributes to put it in the same place in all region.

New item icon in iCal suddenly appears and don't how to get rid of it.

I have a little number 1 in my iCal next to my Home calendar on the left side of iCal. It resembles the little number 1 I'd get in the Mail program if I had one new email.
I have no idea where it came from and want it GONE. Can you help?

I just figured out how to get rid of the numbers. Click Notifications on the bottom left part of the Ical screen and some blank invitations will show up. Click one and a box shows up that gives you the option of deleting the Notification/Invitation. I did that for the 4 little boxes and the number is gone.

Can't add a new item

Hi, I'm brand new to Premier and I'm using this video tutorial How to create a video story with Premiere Pro | Adobe Premiere Pro CC tutorials. I understand how to make a cut but for whatever reason I can't get it to drag to the new item icon. if I could get some help I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Cannot return to message list while in a message without clicking on "compose new message icon" and then cancelling it.

After updating to 8.1 from 8 i cannot return to my message list from inside a message without clicking on the "compose new message" icon and then canceling out of that.
Also, where it used to say return, it now says "Edit" and the word "Message" on the top of the screens is scruched together.

Here is the scenario:
In credit memo request page, I need to add a new item.
In the 'About this page', I checked for the view objects CMRequestVO and CMRequestLinesVO but the item is not available in the view objects.
There is an item called Requestor Comments shown on this page. The item to be added is the Approver Notes. These 2 columns are populated through the workflow.
How to find about the Requestor Comments item? If we know this then the Approver Notes item can be easily added to this page, I think.
Also I enabled the FND_PERSONALIZATION_REGION_LINK profile option so that
I can create a new item using personalization. But I could not see the create item icon in the create item field.
Can adding the Approver Notes be achieved by personalization?

You need to look at both VO's and see where to add the credit memo field.
To extend the VO object...you have to use Jdeveloper.

After extending the, you need to copy your objects under webserver and the bounce the apache.
Then you need to do personalization..
Here are the steps for personalization:
Click Personalize page and click "Expand All" under Personalization Structure..
Go to the corresponding Advance Table and Click on Create Item. This will create a Column Field
1) Enter Unique ID-- ex; CreditMemoEx
2) Rendered -- True
3) Click Apply
In the advance table search the newly created "CreditMemoEx"
Click on the Create Item field again.
1) Select Item Style " Message Styled Text"
2) Data Type -- Varchar2
3) Enter the Prompt = "Credit Memo"
4) Scope -- Enter the full path of VO object...ex: /xx.../oracle/apps/...
5) View Attribute -- Enter Exact name the attribute defined in the VO object.
6) Enter other attributes required for Business.
7) When Finished Click Apply.

"New Look" Icons

We converted into 6.0 a 5.0 form that uses the standard
DEFAULT&SMARTBAR menu. Now, we don't don't see toolbar icons;

Cannot create new folders on desktop. Cannot drag new items onto desktop. Desktop in Finder opens with Terminal. Not sure if this has anything to do with upgrading to Mavericks but I need help if anyone has ideas. Thank you.

I can no longer create new folders on my desktop. The option to do that is now light gray on the drop down menu and can't be selected.

Take these steps if the cursor changes from an arrow to a white "prohibited" symbol when you try to move an icon on the Desktop.
Sometimes the problem may be solved just by logging out or rebooting. Try that first, if you haven't already done it. Otherwise, continue.
Select the icon of your home folder (a house) in the sidebar of a Finder window and open it. The Desktop folder is one of the subfolders. Select it and open the Info window. In the General section of the window, the Kind will be either Folder or something else, such as Anything.
If the Kind is Folder, uncheck the box marked Locked. Close the Info window and test.
If the Kind is not Folder, make sure the Locked box is not checked and that you have Read & Write privileges in the Sharing & Permissions section. Then close the Info window and do as follows.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Mail new email icon

The new email icon in my dock is telling me I have 10 new mails which aren't there, at present i have no new emails and it says 10, when i get one new email it goes up to 11?
Do you know why it would do this, I thought perhaps it was thinking a draft was an email but i've only got 3 in there not 10.

Double check all your folders and even the junk and sent items boxes as sometimes mail can be marked as unread in there and add to the count in the dock.
Just one more suggestion but it's rather drastic. You could move the Mail folder in /Users/<<UserName>>/Library to the desktop and see if the problem disappears. Moving this folder out will result in you having to set up all your mail accounts again.
Depending on what you have saved in Mail it can be a rather exhaustive process moving all the emails and folders back.

Delete photos and news items

Is there any way to delete unwanted photos? I have looked around the gallery app and can find nothing.
Also, is there any way to delete news items from the News app? They just keep accumulating.

Not 100 % sure if this is what your loking for, but on my news widget once if you scroll through them all (until icon is empty) then touch the icon again it will say "widget settings". Then you can add or delete the number of articles sent to ya (or from where), or how long you keep them.

New Item Indicator - how to switch language???

I need to be able to have the New Item Indicator appear in both English (by default) and in French after the user chooses to view our portal in French mode. The new item indicator only appears in English, regardless of the portals current language setting. Has anybody had this issue and if so, did you find a solution to it so that a French icon appears when the site is in french, and an English icon appears when the site is in English?? Thanks!

You have referenced the proper steps to select your language. If reinstalling the applications is not affecting the language then you may need to adjust the language utilized by the operating system to match the language you desire your Adobe Creative applications to be in. Any changes made will only be applied by reapplying the majority of the Adobe Creative applications included with a Creative Cloud membership.

Installing firefox 4 on mac window says a newer item called firefox already exists

I downloaded FF4, clicked on the download and a window came up saying drag the FF icon to applications. When I do, a warning windo pops up saying "there is already a newer item called firefox. Do you want to replace it with this older one?"

Try to drag the old Firefox version to the trash to see if that allows to install the new version.

I have tried changing the "DataSourceMode" as below, now the insert command is working, but update command is not working.
