New itunes 10.2.1.1  64 bit JAMS CPU Windows 7

The new iTunes jams my CPU on a regular basis, have tried complete uninstall and reinstall twice, but no improvement. Any ideas?

SOLVED (for me). I have been scouring posts/forums for three weeks trying to resolve this. I finally stumbled across a suggestion that WORKED! This sounds crazy--I disregarded it, but was willing to try anything...
My IM client (Trillain & Gtalk) was trying to ping iTunes for the "Now Playing" status option. The moment I turned that off everything went back to normal. Cannot believe what a relief this is.
I'm sure other are out there trying to resolve this issue that cropped up once 10.2 was released. I hope it ends some others' frustrations as it did mine.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • While installing latest version of iTunes error "This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead" how to deal with it ?

While installing latest version of iTunes error "This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead" how to deal with it ?

Doublechecking. What's the filename of the installer you've been downloading? (The 32-bit installer is called iTunesSetup.exe, and the 64-bit installer is called iTunes64Setup.exe.)

  • New iTunes still not working with 64 bit operating systems?

When will iTunes support advanced 64 bit operating systems...
Would seem that a next generation phone would work with the next generation of operating systems...

iTunes does work with vista 64 bit. I can sync my iPod with it. It's the 'Apple Mobile Device Support' portion that is required by the iPhone that isn't working.

  • Downloaded the New iTunes 10.6 and it doesn't open on Windows 7

Since I ran the update for iTunes 10.6 it won't start, open or do anything. I tried removing iTunes and reinstalling and that didn't work. Also tried a couple fixes I got from googling my problem. Nothing seems to be working to get iTunes to open. Earlier versions worked fine.

SnowFawn: from my experience, involving three hours of troubleshooting using Apple's tutorials, without help from Apple:
    1. Do the steps here to remove and reinstall all Apple software on your machine, "Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP," at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
    2. If you care, they don't tell you or ask you to uninstall MobileMe in those steps.
    3. After I did as they wrote to do, iTunes wouldn't recognize either my iPhone or iPad. On my own I found that Applie's software reinstallation failed to install the Apple Mobile Device Software Driver. So I followed the steps at, "iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows," which took me 25 minutes alone to find. See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Those steps solved everything and iTunes is now back to normal.

  • New install of cs6 32 and 64 bit on a windows 8.1 64 bit pc file association issue

If I have the 32 bit cs6 open, and click on a psd file it auto opens in the 32 bit software which is nice. However if I have no instance of CS6 open and click a psd to open, it will allways open the cs6 64bit software, which is annoying and I would like to pull the 32 bit always.
I also tried to file associate the psd to the 32bit cs6 exe file, but when clicked it still opens the 64 bit cs6....frustrating
    any ideal?

I think if you use regedit and search for the key Photoshop.exe that you will find the the default programs for open and edit are set to the 64 bit exe.  Try changing them to the  32 bit exe, This is what my Windows 7 registry key look like. You would change both of them to something like:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\ Photoshop.exe " "%1"
Do you have some third party 32 bit plug-ins installed is that  why you want the 32bit version to start

  • Installed new itunes, now appear to have 'lost' my song library

i just downloaded the new itunes to my PC (Vista--64 bit)--a message came up asking me if i wanted to 'delete' itunes or 'repair' it. i chose repair and it appears to have installed.
however all but 23 songs now have "!" next to them and the computer appears to be unable to locate them.
any ideas what happened. should i try to reinstall itunes?
the only place that now holds my 2000 songs is my iphone. do i need to try a 'reverse' sync where the itunes on the computer will receive the library from my phone--or is that a one way stream only?

actually the problem is a little differnt than i first thought. the library is intact but every time i go to 'synch' my ipad which i bought today, then all the '!' appear next to nearly every song and the computer can't locate them. i am able to sych only 23 songs...
if i disconned the ipad, turn off itunes and then turn it back on, I can play all my songs, but the minute i try to synch my ipad, the '!" appear.

  • New iTunes uses 100% CPU

I hate the new iTunes. It is consuming 100% of my CPU. Anyone else experiencing this?

    Oh another thing:
It does step 1 ok (backing up) but when it starts downloading apps (step 2) is the problem. The first few apps end up downloading but iTunes freezes like 5 times during the process... After a few apps comes the white screen and everything... Once the iPod is removed and iTunes it closed, the background comes back and everything  goes back to normal. Nothing is erased from the iPod either.
    Thought that would help.

  • TS1424 has anyone not been able to get the installer to properly load and get a message like: This installer is intended for 32 bit versions of windows. Please download and install 64 bit iTuines installer instead? and even if you uninstall and reinstall

Has anyone not been able to get the iTunes installer to load properly and get a message like this: This iTunes installer is intended for 32 bit versions of windows. Please download and install 64 bit iTunes installer instead. I have tried repeatedly to get this to load, I have uninstalled iTunes completely and reinstalled and still get the same message. I have windows XP and a brand new ipod touch which I am trying to load.

Yes, it's come up a number of times. If you look to the right under "more like this", you'll find threads that may offer useful suggestions.

  • I installed the new iTunes 11.1.4 with windows and when I plog in my new iPod, I get a warning notice telling me to install the 64-bit version, how do I fix this problem?

Please Help I don't know what to do
I just installed the new iTunes 11.1.4 and when I plug in my iPod touch, it sends me a warning note
telling me that the requested software is not installed, to uninstall iTues and install it again with the 64 bit version
I've already tried it but the same thing happens

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?
