New iTunes 5.0.1.4 Won't Install Please Help

Hey i am trying to install the iTunes version 5.0.1.4, but two error messages appear, it begins to install and then this message appears
" The installscript engine on this machine is older than the version required to run this setup. If availabel please install the latest version of ISScript.msi."
I then click OK for this and the following error appears,
"Error: - 1603 Fatal error during installation, consult windows intaller help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."
Then the installer closes, i have looked at the install script version and i think i have version 11, but am unsure, has anyone got an idea whats going on?

1. Make sure you're running the installer as the administrator for your computer.
2. Make sure you fully uninstall iTunes and Quicktime. The biggest problems with installing are in fact caused by bad uninstalls. There's a knowledge base article here:

3. Reboot somewhere in there. Sometimes with these errors all I've done is clean out the contents of the temp folder and reboot and the install will then work.

What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.

Java won't install please help

I was trying to reinstall java due to a problem with an application.
I uninstalled the old one, removed the old directory, rebooted, downloaded the offline java package jre-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe
and it won't install. I get 2 errors back to back.
I have tried installing to a custom directory, with no special characters, tried registering the files listed on another thread and nothing works.
This is on windows xp sp2 with ie 6.

I had the same problem today.
I got around the problem by:
1 - uninstalling java 1.5.03
2 - removing java 1.6 files
3 - downloading the same package
4 - installing in a custom directory (advanced options) (program_files/sunjava/...)

I am trying to activate voice over on my new shuffle 3rd gen and when I click apply, i get the following error message:
"The voice over kit could not be installed because the signature file was invalid".

just go to control panel and click on iTunes in 'uninstall a program' and click 'change' then 'repair'. This is what worked for me cos I had the same problem

Graphics card WON'T install - Please help !

can anyone help me out here, I'm at my wits end!!
I'm running XP home on a 2.8g P4 on an MSI 845E Max (6556e) mobo.
I've just purchased my second Gainward FX5600 card as I thought the first one was faulty! and it will not install.
I keep getting an invalid data error at the end of the install and it tells me the card isn't installed properly.
I've got the latest drivers for the card, new mobo bios drivers and the latest intel chipset drivers but its still no good!!!
I think i might have installed the VIA 4in1 drivers by mistake and have tried to remove them as this could be the reason for my problems
does anyone have any ideas as to what i should do?

I would try uninstalling it through the device manager. You can get there by right clicking on My Computer and going to properties. It will bring up the system properties and you should see the device mangager button under the hardware tab. After you have them uninstalled close that and click on the add new hardware under system properties, hardware tab. Make sure you have your driver cd installed in the cdrom and let windows find the drivers that way.

External hard drive won't install, Please Help

I just purchased this same external hard drive, 3/7/2011. I hooked everything up via my USB, put in the installation CD, got the Drive Set-up window, clicked on Backup Software and got a message "C:\DOCUMEN~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\pft48F~tmp\" and "Access denied" with the only choice of clicking on "OK"; when I clicked on OK, a small window titled "unpacking backup software" appears in the upper left corner; it got about halfway through, stopped and I got an alert from my McAfee security program that it detected a trojan and removed it. Then 3 gauges appear in the upper left corner and the message "Toshiba Backup Software Installation an error occurred during the move data process of the file REFILERW.SYS!" appears and I click OK again then the Toshiba Drive Setup window appears and a green checkmark is NOT next to Backup Software. However, if I go ahead and click on the other 2 items to install, Drive Monitor Software and Power Save Software, a green checkmark appears next to them. When I then click Exit I get my regular startup screen. The Drive Monitor appears in My Programs but nothing else. Did Toshiba send me a trojan on their program?
When I checked out my McAfee to see what the name of the trojan was,it says: Artemis!8CBE6FC5C432
I'm not a technophobe and am just lost; I don't know what to do or where to get answers. I emailed Toshiba Tech Support twice but didn't get anything back.

It would be a false positive. Some antivirus programs look for virus like activity, and that makes them much more prone to errors.
Get rid of McAfee's and switch to Microsoft Security Essentials, it is free and very good. Security essentials is a very light program, so you will not notice any slow downs when it is running like the bloatware security programs are known for and you will have far fewer false positives.

When I used to manage a PC repair shop, we used to have people come in and pay us to get rid of McAfee's and Nortons on their systems because they would slow the computers down so much, and the false positives were making them miserable when trying to install programs that they knew were safe.

I have an iMac which I use for my small business, for a particular software I had to fragment the disk and run Windows and after a few months I removed windows and now I have OSX 10.6.8. My problem is that the apps that I bought via my second iMac are not being installed on first iMac. Apps show up in the purchase history and and when I click on them, install button shows up as well but when I click to install, it says I need OSX 10.7 or higher. Now I tried regular software update and looks like 10.6.8 is the latest (at least automatically).
Now my questions is, do I need to buy the OSX 10.7 or higher, is that why my mac is not upgrading above 1.6.8 via updtae option or do I ineed to manually download 10.7 and install?

To run those apps you will need to upgrade your Mac to v10.7 or later.
See Step 1 to see if your Mac qualifies to upgarde directly to Mountain Lion v10.8 (without having to purchase v10.7 Lion > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.

Software update is for updating your system software, not upgrading. There's a difference between updating and upgrading.
An update would be going from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8. An upgrade is going from v10.6 Snow Leopard, v10.7 Lion, or v10.8 Mountain Lion.
Mountain Lion can be purchased from the App Store. Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click App Store. Or click the App Store menu icon in the Dock, or lauch the App Store from your Applications folder.

That is what it needed, I deleted it and the redid the settings
Now ripping again @ 40x +
So just for fun, i checked the error correction box again and did a rip at 8x as expected.
Then I unchecked the error correction box, and again the problem remained.
Looks to be a bug discovery in iTunes 9, as I did this on my MacPro as well and it did the same thing.
I had to delete the plist again to resolve it.

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
What can I do ..??

I would go to Settings - General - Reset - and Reset Network Settings

In the Utilities folder do you have an application called Adobe Flash Plyer Install Manager? If so, run that to remove all traces of Flash and then try re-downloading and installing from: http://www.adobe.com/flashplayer
As an aside, any reason why you haven't updated from 10.7.1 to 10.7.5 as the latest version of Lion includes numerous bug fixes.

I would restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod on your computer and start over. It appears the iPod is associated with another account. Any media that came with the iPod does not belong to you and di not transfer with the iPod hardware.
