New iTunes 6.1 works like a charm, but...

I am pleased to mention that since I upgrade my iTunes about 1 month ago or so, to 6.1, it's just like the version 4 from last year when I got my eMac. My 'But' issue today is this constant need for rebuffering before the full broadcast is linked. This only happens to most stations, while others start up as soon as I open up the link. Otherwise, no matter which iTunes channel I select, it plays interruption free, otherwise other days, it rebuffers quite frequently. Any ideas to prevent this auto-rebuffer from initial launch?

I am using the latest v6.1.0.3, and now the problem of the song text not updating properly happens all the time as opposed to just some of the time. It seems blurry as the text is rendered over itself without clearing the area first and also the currently playing or selected song is not drawn to indicate this, that is, the highlighting and logos on the song list are not always updated. Additionally, in this new update, the song length bar at the top has been drawn in weird places (such as the middle of itunes) will still also being present at the top. It seems like there are tons of problems with drawing the GUI in this version as opposed to just periodic problems from older ones.
Btw, I can not find any form for providing that kind of feedback (though stated as being available at the bottom of the support pages, no form for emailing is located there).

I bought a brand new Mac 27" desktop that came loaded with Adobe CS6. Everything worked like a charm until the hard drive, 1Tb, developed a bad sector and the Apple Store reinstalled a new one as I had extended warranty with them. They recycled the drive immediately (like a fool I didn't ask for it back to get the data off it.) But luckily I have all my data on CrashPlan. I downloaded it and it worked great except I downloaded it to the desktop and not the original location so it got squirrely. I also have an external 1.5Tb drive that I wanted to make bootable so I installed Mavericks 10.9.3 . I then went ahead and installed it on the newly installed drive too.
I think that because I have a new drive Adobe thinks I have a news computer. I bought the 27" Mac brand new from Ebay and it came loaded with software, including CS6. I have a serial number for CS6 but Adobe said it wasn't valid. (I have owned CS2, CS4 and now CS6 which came preloaded onto the Mac by the seller who told me that the software was registered to the Mac???
I am going to re-download the backup but this time to the original location (I still don't think it will work with Adobe. What can I do about this?

  • New Itunes is not working because my imac is 10.6.8 need help ?

New Itunes is not working because my imac is 10.6.8 need help ....

Because you require Lion to run it. You should not have installed it.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • I was having problems connecting to my internet at home with my 4s.  I tried many of the suggestions.  Nothing worked.  I did not want to sit on the phone with apple etc trying to fix it.  I bought a router extender.  It worked like a charm.

I just want to let those of you who have problems connecting to home internet.  I had same problem with my 4s iphone and tried many of the suggestions here as well as on the internet.  Then I found something called an internet extender. Bought it and worked like a charm.  It was worth the $60 I paid.  No more hours of trying to figure it out.  I don't know if this will work for anyone else with this problem but if it helps you I'm happy

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort Express base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the Express; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has initialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the Express will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the Express from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the Express. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the Express to the Internet broadband modem. For the 2nd generation Express, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.

You got ripped off. You bought a hacked/jailbroken phone. That's what error 1015 means. Return it and get your money back if possible and buy a phone from a legitimate source.
Discussing jailbroken / hacked phones is forbidden by the terms of service. Jailbreaking / hacking voids any warranty and forfeits your right to support here or from Apple. You can not get help here.

  • Putting Apps into new computer and new Itunes, Aithorization dosnt work.

I just got a new mac and I wanted to snyc my ipod. Using an external hardrive i have already put all my music on but i didnt put on my apps because there wasnt enough space. Now when I snyc my touch it comes up with the sign "would you like to transfer purchased items into itunes" of course I click yes, then it goes on. At this point I should mention I have already authorized my computer for music and apps. When the snycing starts it suddenly stops and says that it cant import the apps because my computer is not authorized, even though it is. to make it worse, the first time i snyced after authorizing the computer 6 apps made it but the rest said my com needed to be authorized. I dont wanna have to lose all those apps (56 in total alot i know) so CAN ANYONE HELP!!!!!!

This is the process I would have recommended:
Backup your library using this User Tip.
Deauthorise the old computer if you won't be using it for iTunes.
Restore the library into the music folder on the new computer.
Install iTunes and sign in to your account.
For the "restore" process you can either just copy the backed up iTunes folder into the new computer or install and set up SyncToy to manage the transfer. If you install iTunes before restoring the library then you should delete/rename the existing empty iTunes library in your profile's music folder first.
Reconnecting an old iOS device backup set into a new iTunes installation is actually quite tricky, but provided the library has been properly conserved it is an unnecessary step. A library transferred as outlined above will be the same library the device was previously synced with, albeit on a different computer/operating system, and there should be no problem syncing media or apps. Info content such as calendar and contacts may need a little more care to make sure the same applications have as used previously have been installed and their data restored to them.

  • Will the new iTunes 11 still work for power users?

I've looked at the available screenshots, and I'm worried.
On the new iTunes page, Apple says, "Simplicity is a beautiful thing" — but I'm not so sure. I don't see any conventional list views, and I'm very worried that in simplifying it, they've sacrificed the control that so many music lovers like myself have come to rely on.
    Here's Apple's info:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/new-itunes/
    Anyone have additional insight?

    Limnos wrote:
    1) iTunes is free software.  As such it isn't targeted at the "power user" nor does Apple have a specific committment to produce a certain style product.
I disagree. Apple has added many, many features to iTunes over the years that target the power user. From smart playlists, to obscure things like ID3 tag version control. Power users features are sprinkled throughout iTunes. And to say that Apple doesn't have a "specific committment to produce a certain style product" is true, but also fairly obvious/meaningless.
    2) iTunes' developments over the past decade have largely been in the marketing facet.  As for basic music playing not much has changed since it was developed from Soundjam.  What has changed a lot is the introduction of the iTunes Store and interfacing with mobile devices.
Basic music playing has changed a LOT. You couldn't even rate your tracks in the beginning.
    3) Apple is a for-profit corporation.   We might like to remember them as the little-computer-that-could taking on the big corporations, but frankly they aren't that anymore.  They have a responsibility to their shareholders to do whatever it takes to maximize profit.  We don't really know what the October iTunes looks like (much) but if they decide to dumb it down so it is easier for people primarily interested in using iPhones to use then from a marketing perspective can't blame them.  We might not like it and might yearn for the the days when Apple really was computers, but those days are gone.
This is simplified to point of meaninglessness. There's an interaction between customers and product design teams. It may not be obvious from the outside, but there's still a give & take. What you're saying is in essence is, "Shut up and accept whatever happens," which is not a rational approach.
    4) If Apple decided iTunes wasn't in their interest they would drop it in a flash.  Where's iDVD?  iDVD was something people were willing to pay for.  They still would, but Apple isn't selling it anymore even though it is clear people in general have not given up on DVDs.
iDVD is not a good comparison, because of the vastly different switching costs. I used iDVD, but was fairly unaffected by its slow demise.

  • Works like a charm!

There are so many complaints in these discussions, that I thought I should throw in some kudos. Having spent some 60 hours since installing the 1.1 update in reading the new manual and how to perform adjustments and the discussions and then testing this and that, yesterday I got down to some serious shooting in RAW and running the files through Aperture, and I was very, very impressed.
Though I'm based on a Powerbook, the program worked smoothly. I had few rotating balls, no crashes. Adjustments were quick. And the resulting prints were gorgeous.
Then today a series of images shot 33 years ago and scanned and imported into Aperture. Some out to Photoshop Elements 4 for work that can't be done in Aperture. The whole process was very smooth and the resulting prints were very impressive.
We've raised a number of serious issues that Apple still has to address, but the program is a pleasure to use and the bottom line is that I have a series of prints which will give me enormous pleasure and there was little fuss and bother in achieving them once I'd spent some time studying how Aperture is meant to work.

There's no issue of speed to use the 20" Cinema Display. Just plug it in and fly to the moon. The Powerbook G4 is designed to be used with this particular external monitor (and it will work with others too, but there is absolutely nothing as fine as the Cinema Display and the 20" is actually reasonably priced).
Hard disk speed makes some difference, but nowhere near as much as more RAM. Virtually every single true guru (and I am not one of these) will tell you that your biggest jump in performance will likely come from increasing your RAM.
And, with respect to documentation, version 1.1 has done the job. One of the biggest problems with 1.0 was that it came with a Getting Started book and a list of keyboard shortcuts, and that was it. There were a few FAQs at Apple's Support site. But basically you were told what Aperture could do, but left to your own devices to figure out what each slider was for and how to change the settings (how to make big adjustments, and how to make tiny adjustments). So we had to bring over what we knew about adjusting with other applications and just experiment with Aperture. Very time consuming, and sometimes very frustrating.
Now, in electronic form, accessible from the Help Menu, there's a 427-page User's Guide, and a 100+page manual on Performing Adjustments, etc. In all, there's around 700 pages of instructions, accessible immediately on screen from the Help Menu. You will see from some other threads that some of us want a printed form but Apple is not planning to make them available. So some people are spending very large dollars at a copy-shop to get a color version of the documentation, or spending hours printing out their own copies. I've decided just to try it out on screen---not nearly as good as taking a Manual to bed and reading oneself to sleep. But, when you are actually working in Aperture and you need an answer, especially on how to do fine adjustments to an image, it is very handy to have the whole book right there. I will value this feature particularly when I travel. I always take my Powerbook and I work on my images early each morning before breakfast. I have spent some 30 hours with this documentation since 1.1 was released last week, and I think it's excellent.

  • Album art viewable in lower left hand corner with new iTunes?  Really liked that from before, but not sure how to do it now....

I've just fiddled for about ten minutes and havent been able to get it to work.  Ijust really liked that feature and if nothing else, will just go back to 10.7 if the new one doesn't let you do it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I realized you could do that... Sadly for me, it's just more steps to do something you didn't have to do anything to get.  For me, I'm flipping around between web pages, itunes, folders for work, and now i have to click Itunes, then an additional click for the album artwork to come up, not to mention resizing it everytime I open iTunes.  Will most certainly be going back to iTunes 10.7.

  • Is there a software that works like Time Machine but for a PC

Hi I am a IT admin for a company in Atlanta, Ga. I use apple at the home and love it. I have several users at my company that can't seem to understand simple file structures. So they are constently deleting, moving and overwriting files on there system. A software like Time Machine would really help me out to recover thier mistakes. The only problem is that they work on windows XP systems. Is there a PC software out there that works like Time Machine?

After evaluating a number of backup software options for my corporate Dell d620 laptop (yes, unbelievably, my company doesn't offer an automatic backup of their users' machines!), I chose Second Copy for the following reasons:
    1. Different backup profile options (e.g., I have one that automatically backs up to the local LAN on a schedule and at shut-down when I'm in my office, a profile for manual backup to an external HD, and another profile for manual backup to my 4 GB USB flash drive). You can even backup remotely and trigger an email to a specified recipient when a backup is complete.
    2. The backup file structure is not proprietary or in a format differing from the original, thereby not requiring the original software to open the files and restore.
    3. Only backs up changed data, making it very quick each time.
    4. Simple to set up and use.
    5. $29
When working from my home office, I will often run a backup on my flash drive or external HD, transfer it to my Mac, and work from the 24" glossy-screened glory in favor of my tiny washed out Windows laptop display.
I realize this doesn't quite approach the no-brainer flexibility of Time Machine, but with a bit of thought, you could get your users automatically backing up to various locations on varying schedules and accomplish the same thing (i.e., automatically back up every day to their primary local LAN, back up every week to a secondary off-site location, etc.). Effectively, you could have daily and weekly backups to restore from, somewhat similar to Time Machine.
    Good luck!
    B.
