New Itunes 9.2.1.4 eliminated syncing contacts on iPhone with Outlook 2007

I get the following message when plugging in my iPhone to my Windows 7 based computer: "iPhone could not sync contacts to “john” iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone" This just happened today after updating iTunes 9.2.1.4. Anybody have a solution?

This is the part of phones & computers that is so hard to deal with, it has made me loose my mind sometimes.
BEFORE YOU EVER UPDATE YOUR ITUNES ON EITHER THE MAC OR PC.
MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR PHONE & OUTLOOK FIRST.
EXPORT YOUR ENTIRE OUTLOOK PROFILE INTO A .PST FILE (READ HOW TO DO THAT, IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW)
I go a step further and export my contacts separately, my calandar, notes separately too. just in case the .pst file gets corrupt.
Then put all of them on a backup CD or DVD
After making sure you have valid backups. Search the internet for any problems on the new update that is available and make sure it doesn't have a Bug on the computer you are using etc.....
don't just install the update, cause it just came out. I would wait a few days, to make sure there are no problems with it.
One of the worst updates Apple put out: was for the iPhone, when it was new in the market and everyone who downloaded and tried to update their phone, it erased all their contacts on the phone and computer. that would've put me in the hospital.....
I'm a tech for Mac and PC music/video studios, so I do this for a living.
I'm still using the iPhone 3gs. My clients and friends are all texting and asking when they can buy a 4.0.... I say wait until the 2nd version comes out.
which I'm right, cause they haven't worked out all the kinks.
So if you're running a business and have a real job and pay bills, don't mess around. Buy the 4.0 for your kid, so he or she can be the beta tester for apple.
as far as your Syncing issue. 2 ways to fix it.
remove the new itunes 9.2.1.4 and delete the system registry keys, restart and install the previous version of iTunes that didn't give you that message. There's really no reason to keep updating iTunes every time they do an update, unless there's something wrong or missing and read the updates that they are offering in the new version to see if there's anything significant for you to bother with it. or else wait for the next one.
the only thing that really comes to mind is that Microsoft and Apple work with each other move the market in the direction to maximizing sales.
Office just introduced version 2010 for PC users. So I'm assuming that the reason that 2007 stopped working for you, is because it's going to force you to go purchase 2010....I bet you it will sync fine after that.
I'm also a beta tester for microsoft and been using the 2010 version of Office and it's amazing.....and I downloaded the 9.2.1.4 and sync'd just fine.
So again, when all the new stuff comes out, it starts bugging you in ways to make you upgrade and purchase the newest technology.
I support that and for the past 15 years, we're all beta testing the future, hopefully the next generation will appreciate it, because these companies need the support right now, to build future products that will be seamless....
hope that helps.
just remember, don't be 1st in line when new stuff is released. Do your homework and do a search like this before touching your system: "iTunes 9.2.1.4 problems"
good luck

  • Problems syncing iPhone 4S contacts and calendar with Outlook 2007

Hello.  I am having difficulties syncing my iPhone 4S Contacts and Calendar with Outlook 2007.  It used to work perfectly with my iPhone 4, but now I am having difficulties both ways.  That is, I add something to my Outlook 2007 Calendar, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in my iPhone.  Or, I add a Contact to my iPhone, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in Outlook 2007.  I believe I have the iTunes settings correct.

Me too. Think it is since 6.1.3.
Interesting other quirk is that as well as NOT syncing my calendar, it also unticks my calendar from pc on the iphone.
When ii retick it, i get the calendar back, but as it was before the sync, ie, it does not have the bnew events from my pc in it.
This is a 2 way problem.
New events on my iphone wont sync to my pc, and new events on my pc wont sync to my iphone.

  • Syncing iPhone with Outlook 2007 after hard drive crash.

I recently had a hard drive crash.  We were able to retrieve the .pst files for Outlook 2007 and I sync my iPhone with Outlook for contacts, calendar and such for business.  The iPhone of course, was not affected.  I downloaded iTunes on the new hard drive, and backed up the phone.  (I sync music and apps on my husband's laptop.)
Now, in trying to sync, though, I get a lot of nebulous messages that really don't explain what the outcome will be.
    Box says:
The information on the iPhone "Susan's iPhone" is synced with another user account.  Do you want to sync this iPhone with the information from this user account instead?
(Choices:  "Merge Info mergest th einformation on this iPhone with the information from this user account.  OR "Replace Info" replaces the information on this iPhone with the information from this user account.  )
My best guess would be 'Merge info" but then, will I end up with double everything?  I have many hundreds of contacts and years of calendars.
It seems with Apple I'm always cleaning up one mess after another.  Today when installing iTunes, it corrupted my Outlook and I had to repair Outlook. So it would be a nightmare to have double of everything on my phone and on my computer.
Does anyone have a clue as to what to expect?

On a PC with Windows or with Paralels iTunes 8.2 has an option for Outlook which works with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 (if it works - see my post on a case where it doesn't ...)

  • I am unable to sync my Ipod touch with Outlook 2007, an operation I was able to do with no problem using Outlook 2002.

When I plug my ipod touch into my desktop computer to synchronise it, and in particular with Outlook 2007, I get the error message "Itunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services". Reconnect or try again. All appropriate boxes have been ticked where possible, the callendar and contacts boxes being greyed out and ticking not possible.  When using Outlook 2002 this box enabled sync to be carried out with Outlook without a problem.  I have uninstalled both Outlook and Itunes and reset my Ipod Touch but get the same results no matter what I do.  Apple claim that the Ipod touch is compatible with Outlook 2007 but it appears not to be the case. I am using the latest Ipod software of 4.2.1.  Can anyone help me.

Tough spot if you want Apple only SW, no idea where you can get where you want without some decent 3rd party SW, which as a rule outshines Apple's SW by light years.

  • Error when syncing iPhone with Outlook 2007 since updating iPhone to 1.1.2

Since updating to 1.1.2 I receive this message "OutlookSyncClient has stopped working". I am running Vista Business with Outlook 2007. Prior to updating to 1.1.2 I had no issues. I have tested this running iTunes 7.4.3.1 and 7.5.0.20. My contacts sync with no issues, only my calendar does not work. Has anyone else ran into this issue and have you found a resolution/work around?
    Thanks,

  • Syncing Contacts and Calendar with Outlook

I am unable to sync my contacts and calendar with outlook. I am not sure which version of outlook I have so that may be the problem, is there a way to look up which version of outlook I currently have?
I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service pack 3 it that helps.

When you installed office 2007 did you reinstall iTunes? This may be necessary because the iTunes installation adds a plug-in to Outlook to manage the sync. You may have to completely remove iTunes, reboot, then reinstall it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US

  • New iTunes v. 10, won't sync to my iPhone 3GS, deleted my entire library

I just upgraded to the latest iTunes and it deleted all of mine and my roomate's music that we've aquired over a few years. My iPhone also refuses to sync to anything new I add to my library. Also, all the check boxes on the songs from my iPod are greyed out so I can't check or uncheck anything. The only option it's giving me to sync my iPhone to the new items in my library is to add those files, but delete all of my other almost 600 songs. This is kind of a problem for me as I took a long time to organize all those. HELP!!

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with ONE computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. Since you already sync with your home computer, you can't sync with your work computer unless you first want to erase your phone of all of the content currently on your phone. If you want to get this music on your phone, you're gonna have to copy it to a thumb drive & then transfer it to your home computer. From there you can then sync it to your phone. There is no way to download it to your home computer directly, without paying for it again.

  • TS1347 Itunes does not recognize outlook when Iphone is plugged in and the info tab is clicked.  I added the addin in outlook in the advavced tools option.  I want to sync contacts and calendars with outlook and my iphone s.  I have completed the 7.0.1 os

Outlook contacts is not an option when trying to sync to my iphone.  I added the addin in the outlook tools section.  It has worked in the past but I have not used it lately to sync.

    Hi Sergio,
Try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692
The steps for Resetting the Sync History will most likely resolve the issue.

  • Syncing Contacts between iPhone 4 & Outlook

    iPhone 4. iOS 6.1.3
I have two Contact Groups on my iPhone: All Contacts & iPhone. (I am syncing to Outlook via iTunes.)
    1. How can I force the phone to enter all new contacts into only the iPhone group? Currently, it seems that any new contact I add automatically goes into All Contacts. I can find no way in Settings or elswhere to stop this from happening. (I know there are old threads on this site that say you can change the Default Contact Group through Settings>Contacts to e.g. iPhone but no version of software on my phone so far - over 2 years - has allowed this.)
    2. Is there a way to move contacts out of the All Contacts group into the iPhone group? Other than painfully re-typing the data into the iPhone group and deleting the same contact in All Contacts, there seems to be no way of doing this. Really strange that Apple does not give you an option to easily move a contact from one group to another.
    3. Is there a way to sync both groups to Outlook via iTunes? I have tried every place I can find in both the phone and iTunes to make this happen but no luck. If this was possible, then it would be an easy matter in Outlook to move all the contacts to the iPhone group and then resync. Voila! All would be in the iPhone group. Catch 22 - there doesn't seem to be any way of transferring/syncing the contacts in the All Contacts group to anywhere, let alone to Outlook through iTunes.
    4. Is there anyone else out there who can see any logical reason why Apple cannot provide the above functionality within the iPhone?
    Thanks

No - the syncing process for contact info is a bidirectional or true sync process. There is no setting for not transferring or syncing contacts with an email address only. If you don't want these contacts with an email address only on your iPhone, delete the contacts from the address book used by OE.

  • Syncing contacts from iPhone to Outlook and vice versa

I have the new iPhone and I have set up an account in Outlook and have it sync from my MSN Hotmail account. Everything syncs and looks good with the exception of my contacts. I need to know how to put a contact into my phone and have it sync into my Outlook and vice versa. Currently if I put a contract in my phone it does not go to Outlook and if I put a contact in Outlook it does not go to my iPhone.
Do I have to add a new contact to the MSN hotmail account and then it will sync to my Outlook and then my iPhone? How do I get the contacts to go from my iPhone to my Outlook and then to my Hotmail?
    Same issue with Calendars.
    Thanks!

The iPhone supports syncing contacts and calendar events with Outlook 2003 or 2007, which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Syncing contacts and calendar events direct with Outlook 2003 or 2007 via the iTunes sync process syncs direct with the Outlook address book and calendar - with what is available locally on your computer in the Outlook address book and calendar.

  • Can' sync iphone with outlook 2007 contacts

Not able to sync my iphone to outlook contacts.  Have followed the suggested method regarding the trust center add-ins.

Is the iPhone syncing everything else in Outlook (calendar, notes)? Has it ever synced contacts? What happened that made you notice it wasn't syncing contacts?
You can try by resetting the sync history in iTunes first.

  • Syncing contacts and calendar with outlook and gmail - use Exchange or not?

I need to sync my contacts and calendar between my iphone and Outlook and google on my laptop. Syncing via iTunes is fine as a backup but not as a constant process. I then saw that Gmail would permit an Exchange account to be used to allow immediate syncing so I installed an Exchange account on the iphone. It works but I now have doubled contacts. Is there a better way of doing this to avoid duplicate contacts? If I dedupe the contacts on the iphone do I risk then deleting contacts in Outlook on my PC? Alternatively if I delete the Exchange account on the iPhone is there a simple way of keeping calendars in sync on Iphone, Google and Outlook? (I just have two gmail accounts and do not have a Microsoft Exchange server)
Grateful for any useful advice on this issue!

FYI I eventually developed a work around that works better. I have a mac at home and a window pc at work. You can use plaxo to sync contacts between the two and the ipod syncs with the mac as advertised. Also as a bonus you don't have to deal with any issues, problems and pains with multiple itunes locations...
