New itunes account help needed
I have given my computer to my son. Athough I thought I wiped out all the info, he is unable to sign into the iTunes Store which seems to be tied to my user name and password. How can I remedy this?

Well I'm also confused. The problem is that the computer is 3000 miles away and communications about this have been fuzzy. As it turns out, the real problem is in upgrading iPhoto in ML. As we know, the program asks for the password which he knows but failed to put in the capital so caused the password to have to be reset.
I have suggested that my son create a new user account but so far no go. There is no issue of trust.
Sorry about the confusion. Is the solution just to create a new user? Could not a new apple id work? That is my real question, I suppose. Is the update tied to my user name?

Old dormant iTunes account keeps overriding new iTunes account. Need to tidy it up :)

My first post here.
Basically i had my first itunes account with alot of purchases on it. got a new email and set up a new account, so since then i use account 2, and havent even logged on to account 1 in a couple of years, since then i have upgraded and now have an ipad and iphone..
after updating to ios5 today whenever i try to update or purchase apps it comes up with my apple id for account no1.
Am i able to delete this account? if so how? and will the original purchases from account 1 still be authorised to play on account 2 or am i going to loose them??
I have tried to research this but not found much on this specific problem.
Any help would be much appreciated
CheersYou cannot and should not delete it.
All purchases made from the old account will always be tied to that account. You will always have to update teh apps from that account and you will have to authorize your computer for that account.
Why did you start a new account? Why not just change the e-mail address associated with the old account? -

Hi I already have an itunes account registered to my address and email address.
The problem is, I have many apple products but i'm limited to how many products I can use one itunes account for.
How do I open a new itunes account for the same address please.

SamWell, you can probably do it, but then you also have to buy the products again to use them from the other account since they cannot be transferred or shared between accounts. So if you have 7 computers and want the same movie authorized on all of them, you'll have to buy the movie twice and then authorize some devices on one account and others on the other.
Do you really have >5 devices, or is it just that you have a lot of devices authorized that no longer exist but are tying up authorization slots? If that's the case, you can deauthorize things.

I have no idea how to do multiple accounts but you may need to create a new e-mail address (plenty of free ones out there). -
Recently purchased my first Apple product (ipod touch) and am needing to know how to transfer music from other ipods and other itunes accounts. Can this be done? I use to have a iTunes account with my old computer, and I have lost all my iTunes music, some purchased, some downloaded from another source. Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content. -

very frustrated iphone user !!Changing devices is no reason to create a new Apple ID.
All content purchased from iTunes is permanently linked to the Apple ID it was purchased with.
To update apps purchased with the old ID, you MUST sign in with that Apple ID. -
I have just bought an ipad 2 and wish to set up a new account as now I won't have to share with my sister. I want to get all the music off my current iTunes account & put it on to the ipad/new iTunes account. I'm not too sure how to do this though.... Please help lol :-) x
If you mean iTunes libraries or computer user accounts, just create one. To make a new iTunes library on Windows, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and choose Create Library.
If you mean iTunes Store accounts, click here and request assistance.

My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it. I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to iTunes. It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!
How can I get my new iTunes account to allow me to Sync my iTouch? The only option it gives me is to "transfer purchases" from my iTouch to iTunes, but that is only about 25% of my iTunes library-most of it is CDs I have uploaded. How can I Sync without losing all my music from my iTouch???
Also, I have lectures and photos, etc. on my iTouch that I don't want to lose.
I've tried a few of the iPod copy programs-the free ones and the ones you have to pay for, but I can't find one that will work for ALL my content on an iTouch.
Right now, I can't get anything from my iTouch to iTunes, and I can't update my iTouch with my new iTunes purchases, so I'm stuck! Help!Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer. Your i-device was not designed to be a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up. Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer. If the computer has nothing on it, the device is set to match the computer's content -- nothing.The exception is purchased content.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
New laptop set up with new itunes account, need to change it.
I purchased a new macbook pro for my daughter. Up to now we shared an itunes account, the associate helping us convinced us to set up her new laptop with a new itunes account. The associate made it seem like it would be easy to transfer the music from one account to another. I'm now finding out that is not the case. Is there a way to change how her computer is set up? I'm thinking if we set up my itunes account on her computer she will be able to access her music.
Locate the song files in the Finder, move them to the USB drive, take the USB drive to the new computer, drag the files to the internal drive, and from there into the open iTunes application window.

authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account and you're good to go.
make sure you de-authorize iTunes on the old machine before retiring it.
