New itunes copy/rip rate very slow

hello all,
after updating itunes to new version my rip rate has dropped, instead of a rate of about x7.0 to x10.0 i have dropped to x0.1 to x4.5.. it now take me hours!! to copy a regular store bought cd.
please does anybody have any ideas how to up the tempo (PS - reloading older version of itunes isn't working.)

Are you familiar with firewire target disk mode? If you were to connect the two computers using firewire you could do some file management. Make sure that you have key files on one machine and a TM backup. Then do a clean install on the Mini. Better yet, have you considered partitioning the drive on the mini so you can have the best of both worlds?
Depending on the size of the hard drive, you could have one partition for a clean install back up of just a system, one partition of the MacBookPro system with all your familiar settings and preferences and then one partition that is just a fresh start with every thing new and clean. All you have to do to compare and contrast is reboot to a different partition. If things get back to fast, you may not need or want all the old baggage that may be slowing you down.
Explore some options.

It's possible the reason it seems so slow, is that a backup might be in progress - and since it's the first backup everything on the disk is something that Time Machine is backing up and is being transferred across the WiFi at the same time as you're trying to use your Internet. So you're competing with Time Machine data flying across your WiFi along with your internet stuff. So if this is indeed what is happening (look at Time Machine to see if a backup is in progress), either pause the backup to a more convienent time or live with the slowness till the backup is done this first time, and after that you probably will not notice the "competition" on your WiFi. I like to schedule the Time Machine backups to late at night rather than once an hour (the default), but that schedule should be whatever you feel most comfortable with.
There is a handy free utility called "TimeMachine Editor" that you can get from http://timesoftware.free.fr/timemachineeditor/ that lets you create your own customized backup schedule. You can create several schedules to fit your working conditions. I've used it for several years with never a problem. I don't have anything to do with the company - just a happy user.

Satellite U500 - Copy process is very slow

I'm using Satellite U500-1f5, for last 2 months. It is core i5 with Windows 7. Still the copying process is very slow and some times booting is little bit slower.
Can anyone post a valid answer to resolve this problem?

Sounds like that you have installed a lot of software that slows down the performance of your notebook.
So which programs you have installed?
Theoretically it could also be caused due a virus or trojan. You should check your notebook for viruses using a good antivirus program like AntiVir.
Try also to defragment the HDD. If you install/uninstall many programs, you should defragment the HDD from time to time. You can use the integrated Windows defragmentation tool.

Itunes 10.6 is very slow and rarely plays songs. It will either not show it playing or show it stuck at 0:00

Hey, i have had this problem for a while now and it finally got on my nerves. Itunes has been very slow for me lately and now it rarely even plays a song when i want it too. It either wont register that i clicked the song by freezing up or it will show that the song is stuck at 0:00. Sometimes it does play the song, but i havent figured out why it does at random times and what im doing differently when it does. I have itunes 10.6 on windows 7 64 bit. Any help? Printing problem-new HP Laserjet P2015 and VERY slow printing-

I have a new HP Laserjet p2015, and while it does print, it is VERY slow—typically about 1 page per minute even for plain black-and-white Word documents. Much time spent with HP support, even got a new new machine… they're out of ideas and think it might be OS related…
Where do I begin to troubleshoot this?
Printer is connected directly to computer via USB.

I have downloaded new drivers, removed and added the printer multiple times, etc. As I mentioned, I've spent a few hours with HP support, tried new USB cable, even got a new machine. They now believe it's something with my system.
Any reason to believe that reinstalling my system software will help?
By the way: Printing from Text Edit is not faster. Or if it is, not very. In any case, it's not a realistic solution

New CS4 links panel is very slow

I have 3200 links and using new CS4 links-panel is insanely slow. If I delete or update an image when links panel is open, I get the beachball for 10-15 seconds.
The beachball also rolls for many seconds when simply opening the links panel. Seriously slowing the workflow.
Tried to click off all info and thumbnails, no change.
This used to be a breeze in CS3.
Anyone else experience the same? I use MacBook Pro 2.4 Intel with 4 gigs ram.

Do you have any suggestions of what might be the problem?
I tried same document on CS3 and CS4, and CS4 has very slow links panel.
I have no trouble when there are just a few links, but I have 3200 links to maybe 15 different multipage PDF's. CS3 handled this perfectly.

We have been experiencing issues with uploads today. It will sometimes require multiple attempts. The error message that we receive most often is:
"Unknown Error (-4)," which purports itself as an error in the iTunes Store.

Safari and iTunes somehow have become very slow

I am not sure that it is because of my upgrade to 10.5.6 but it feels like it started at the same time. Safari has become very very slow on most of the pages, and don't finish loading some pages (after 2 minutes). It is so bad that exactly the same pages ( I have tested about 20 of them) are up to 10 times faster on Firefox. I have the same performance issues with navigating in iTunes. I have used the maintenance scripts from Onyx not later than today and it did not change anything. Does anybody has the same issue ? Found a solution ?

Thank you very much iBod, you did point the finger to the correct problem. This is a DNS issue which is the result of two bugs, one of them appears to be Leopard 10.5.6 but it is only affected because of an issue in my DSL/WLAN Router. The latest FritzBox router which you will mainly see in Germany and Austria are affected by this issue. The issue has been made public, and there will be a fix in the next few days. If you set the DNS servers like described in iBod solution, you will definitely have a workaround that works.

ITunes 10.7 is very slow to sync audiobooks to my new iPhone 5.

It's not just audiobooks I think, but that's what I'm working on at the moment. It has taken about 10 minutes to sync one normal length (10 hour) audiobook to my iPhone. I'm using iTunes on Windows 7. Is there any fix for this?

no this doesnt work, i did back up an old iphone 3G with iOS 4.2.1, but once connecting the new iphone 5 with iOS 6 it doesnt offer me to restore from this back up... simple it looks like there is no such back up or at least it doesnt offer it.... the only think i can do is to set up as new iphone....

Upgraded to new MobileMe Calendar and now very slow updates

System:
iPhone 3G, iOS 4.1
Mac: 10.6.4
"Upgraded" to the new MobileMe Calendar.
Now BusyCal, iCal, MobileMe and iPhone do not sync quickly (sometimes takes 30 minutes for iPhone or more). Sometimes I need to launch iCal to get MobileMe to update. On the iPhone need to leave on for a long time or turn on and off.
I think I've gone through all the conversion steps and FAQs: Apple's, MobileMe, Mac, iPhone and BusyCal.
Maybe I was just spoiled with iPhone via Airport.
Any comments/suggestions?

I'm seeing that problem as well and I can't figure out what why it's slower. I figured it's a bug so I reported the problem at Apple's iTunes Feedback page.
On the other hand, iTunes 9 converts MP3s to AAC format at least twice as fast as iTunes 8 did, which is a very welcome improvement.

New Pages V5 is running very slow

I was using the previous version happily for 6 months, using the shapes and shadows, dimensions etc to create great looking and very fast design plans. The features were surprisingly good and the process very quick and easy.
As soon as I downloaded V5 all this stopped . Whilst it seems the feature are still available, the speed has become so slow, I can't use ANY of the original files, and creating new ones is far too slow.
I was & still am using a MacBook Pro (1 year old )
Can anyone help/suggest anything to speed things up ???

No, Geoff, the features aren't the same. The list of missing features is in the high 40's in length. Apple have announced that they will restore 4 of them and make changes to two others, in 6 months.
There are other reasons for slowness that have to do with the Mavericks upgrade and iCloud syncing that could be contributing to your problems.

Copying files either very slow or doesn't work at all

I've tried copying files from a DVD to an external drive, and from one external drive to another, and I've been running into troubles on my Mac Pro, namely, I get an error code 36 (corrupted files) and the copying process hangs, requiring me to reboot. However, I was able to copy the files from the DVD to my laptop HD, so I don't think that corrupt files is the problem. After rebooting my Mac Pro, I was able to copy files from one external drive to another, but it was incredibly slow (about 1GB per hour), and I was still unable to copy files from the DVD to an external drive. I've verified all the disks with Disk Utility, and I've repaired disk permissions on my Mac Pro HD but apparently need to re-run since when I verify permissions again, I'm still getting a lot of errors or comments like "Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/rlogin" has been modified and will not be repaired". Scanning my Mac Pro HD for viruses, quite a few files are coming up with the comment "did not have permission to open the file." Other than continuing to repair disk permissions, does anyone have suggestions about what might be causing this and/or on possible next steps?

A little further info - I checked permissions and I have permission to copy the files in question. Also, it seems that most of the errors that pop up when I verify permissions are of the type that can safely be ignored, according to Apple -- I'll go through the list later and cross-check them to make sure that they're all ignore-able, but thats what they appear to be.

I just bought my Macbook Pro two weeks ago specifiacally to use Photoshop CS and Lightroom together. It worked fine for the first few days but
has slowed down considerably since then. I live in Taiwan which makes it difficult to go to a store to have it finxed due to the language barrier
so online help would be fantastic! If the problem continues would it be possible to exchange it for an Air (if that's a wise choice?)

I wasn't expecting this to happen with my new computer! However photoshop and lightroom are running ridulously slowly, even while scrolling through pictures the beachball appears!

How do I know if I have a wifi problem with my new iPad 3 (it seems very slow) and how does one address the problem with apple if there is one?

I just read about the possible issue that some folks are having with their new iPad wifi (my seemed to be running very slowly but I thought that perhaps it was just me overreacting). How do I know if I have a definite problem, and what is my recourse? Do I need to take it to an Apple store for testing? I have apple care which I assume addresses stuff like this. Thoughts? Thx so much.

Your iPad is covered by the normal warranty for one year. If you have AppleCare that extends the coverage. If you feel there is a problem with your wifi reception visit an Apple store with your iPad for a consultation. Be sure to make an appointment before you go.
