New Itunes does not open.

I downloaded the new Itunes and it will not open at all.  I click on it and the icon just hops and that is it.
My Mac meets the requirments listed so I'm not sure why it won't let me open it. 
Any ideas?

Your profile says "upgraded retro Mac desktop".  Therefore are you sure you meet the iTunes 11 requirements?
The requirements specifically state: "Mac computer with an Intel core processor."

    Middle-click or click the scroll-wheel on a hyperlink has always opened a '''new Tab'''. Any chance you had an add-on that changed that action, and now that add-on is disabled or incompatible?

  • Help - itunes does not open when my ipod is hooked up to my computer

    i downloaded the newest version of itunes. everytime i plug my ipod into my computer itunes does not open but instead a program saying "new hardware detected" and it asks to search the system and when you do that it detects my ipod as a camera. also if i open itunes first and then plug in my ipod nothing happens, my ipod doesn't show up in itunes.
    has anyone had this problem if so can you help me how to fix it?

    Upon connecting my iphone to my windows 8.1 (64bit) computer, Itunes does not open the Iphone interface.  How can I sync or back-up the iphone.
    Itunes recognizes the Iphone on the main menu but the menu for the Iphone does not come up.  This is IOS 7.0.4.

    Have you tried clicking on the phone in the device section. It may not automatically select the iPhone. From iTunes, you can select the phone. The menu looks a little different in the newer versions of iTunes. Control + B will bring up the menu bar, Control + S will bring up the sidebar for you to select the phone.

    If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Storeand turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

    Hi jcatx2013, we don't really have enough information on your system to make specific suggestions...
    Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

  • ITunes does not open when ipod connected

    Since installing the 1.1 update, iTunes does not open when I connect my nano to the computer. Both computer and iTunes (when I manually open it) recognize the nano, so no big deal. Just wondering how to make iTunes automatically open.

    Sometimes the Preferences get corrupt - if you set them off and then back on that sometimes clears the problem.

    Despite working perfectly in the past my Itunes does not open anymore--I receive numerious error messages includint ERROR7 Windows error 998; data execution prevention has closed itunes--a re-download (was prompted to  repair files also) has not solved the problem--am wondering if my Itunes library has been lost--solutions anyone?---or a phone number to contact itunes support if possible?

    Here is how to resolve it: uninstall, reinstall iTunes.
    WINDOWS XP:
              1. Quit iTunes.
              2. Start --> Control Panel --> "Add or Remove Programs".
              3. Select iTunes and click Remove. Do not restart your computer. (Also delete iPod Updater if applicable)
                        And then… In this order, also remove:
                        1. QuickTime
                        2. Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support
                        3. Bonjour. (Also delete Apple Application Support if applicable)
              4. Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download to download and install the latest version of iTunes.
    WINDOWS 7, VISTA:
              1. Quit iTunes.
              2. Start --> Control Panel --> "Uninstall a Program", you should now be  at the "Programs and Features" panel.
              3. Select iTunes and click Remove. Do not restart your computer. (Also delete iPod Updater if applicable)
                        And then… In this order, also remove:
                        1. QuickTime
                        2. Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support
                        3. Bonjour. (Also delete Apple Application Support if applicable)
              4. Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download to download and install the latest version of iTunes.

    ITunes does not open automatically when I put my device via the USB cord into my computer.  Even though I checked that box in I tunes

    1. open up applications, and right click the itunes icon.
    2. select 'show package contents'
    3. open the contents folder
    4. open the resources folder
    5. scroll down until you find the ItunesHelper icon.
    6. Now open up your system preferences.
    7. select accounts
    8. select login items
    9. now drag the ItunesHelper icon into the login items screen
    10. This will now put the ituneshelper app into the startup items.
