New itunes Freezing My Computer!!!

I finally gave in and upgraded to the newest version of windows yesterday and have had nothing but problems ever since. First off, when I first open itunes the top center (where track titles are usually displayed during playback) says "determining gapless playback" and shuffles through titles of various songs. When the counter gets to song 662 of 1906 my entire computer freezes! I'm talking a complete freeze where the only way to turn the computer off is to hold down the power button.
Second, I tried cancelling the cycle by clicking the "x" in the window. I then went on to attempt to burn a CD which didn't work either! Is there any way to get back to the older version I had that actually worked??? This is very frustrating

I forgot to say, that the link was to download iTunes 6.
I would try this then, before you go back to the old version.
Run msconfig on your computer (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538)
Try running iTunes. If the issue persists, I would completely delete and reinstall iTunes using this link:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
And then rdownload and reinstall iTunes with all programs on your computer disabled.

  • Why does the new Itunes freeze/do nothing when i click on my Ipod touch icon ?

Why does the new Itunes freeze when i click on my Ipod touch icon to manage my content? All buttones, video, tv, info, music, they all do nothing. i was only able to sync by bringing up the old sidebar. Is this a software glitch, or am i missing a step? I just spent two days reorganizing and labeling all my music for the new itunes, and had to restore my ipod so i could upload my new library. i know what is supposed to come up when you click on the music or info tabs, but nothing happens, only the eject button works. whats going on?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer with iTunes with the USB connector.  iTunes should open and give you instructions as to what to do.  Whatyou need to need to do is to restore the iPod via iTunes.

  • ITunes freezes my computer when i sync with my iPod

updated to new iTunes because my computer said there was a conflict with my burning software. Was prompted to reinstall iTunes. so I did and install went fine untill i try to sync with my iPod. It freezes iTunes and my whole computer . I have XP pro, Nero7 Ultra edition and A 40GB PHOTO iPod. Iwould really love any help with this matter. Thanks to any who can help

Windows may have assigned a drive letter to your iPod that is conflicting with another device. With the exception of your iPod, keyboard and mouse, disconnect all other USB devices including printers, thumb drives, external hard drives, scanners, USB modems etc. and change the drive letter on your iPod. Try M or P or Z.

  • I dowloaded the new itunes on my computer

i dowloaded the new itunes on my computer, now when i plug my phone in it says itunes could not connect to this iphone because of an unknown error. how do i fix this?

For music that you've purchased from Apple that are on your iPhone you should be able to copy to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. Also if you are in the US then you should be able to re-download past music purchases for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For your own music that you've copied, then if you haven't got a backup on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work

  • How do I sync my iPad to a new itunes on a computer

My sons pc installed a new iTunes, overwriting iTunes. Now his iTunes is empty. His iPad still has all his songs and apps on it. We backed up his iPad to iCloud. How do I get his iPad info onto his iTunes? If I go to sync his iPad to his nw iTunes, it wants to wipe his iPad clean.
    Help?

You need to transfer purchases into iTunes. If you follow the instructions in this discussion - you should be able to transfer all of the purchased content into the new iTunes library on the computer.

  • ITunes Freezes my computer

Every time I open iTunes my whole computer freezes, and the only way I can get my computer back to normal is to hold the power button until it turns off.
I have tried deleting all iTunes files and reinstalling, but the problem continues.
    Any ideas?

Whatever is wrong with the Springsteen folder now affects Bryan Adams and Buddy Holly. However, it has not moved alphabetically upwards to ahem Britney Spears (I guess she really does have a natural resistance to viruses).
I'm guessing One Posts Wonders such as myself are frowned up here, but I really have no advanced computer knowledge to share...I just want to be able to use iTunes again.

  • New iTunes freezing after launch, what's going on?

After downloading the new iTunes with no problem, I've discovered that after a few seconds the programme freezes from any action. It's really starting to do my head in right now. Everything was going fine, I was downloading iOS 5 when it decided to lose connection, I tried again and same thing. After that, the problem with iTunes it self occured.
After spending a whole HOUR trying to get to the point of asking this question I am seriously fed up with this. Apple has well and truely messed up any chance of trying to persuade Blackberry users that the iPod is better since the whole update is causing more problems than what it's fixing.
If anyone can help find a "cure" for this freezing, I'd be extremely grateful. Thankfully my iPod didn't get wiped during the whole problem even though it was trying to sync at the time and then black screened for five minutes before coming to life again.

  • New iTunes freezes

Just installed new iTunes on my iMac and it freezes as soon as it opens.
    Any ideas?
    Do I need to reinstall?
    How?

My library is on an external drive as well.
I followed the "re-creating your iTunes library and playlists" as directed by these instructions and all works now.

I had to tweek a few things to resync my iPhone to find podcasts and books, etc.

  • New iTunes freezes. Songs deleted because of apple.

I recently downloaded the iTunes 7.2 and when I opened it, it said Updating Itunes Library. Then it freezes, and won't do anything.
I looked for help on the apple website, it said my exact problem, and told me to take my itunes music folder out of my music and put it onto the desktop then into the trash. Then, open itunes and click file and import/ restore whatever.
Well, when I went into the trash and restores my itunes folder, then clicked on itunes, IT DID THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!! IT FROZE. So, now not only did I lose all of my songs, I think the problem is now worse.
When I plug my ipod into the computer it does nothing. I've tried taking itunes off my computer completely, reinstalling it, uninstalling it, restarting my computer, uninstalling quick time.
    PLEASE HELP ME.

It doesn't say to put your Music folder in the trash, only a SINGLE FILE.
If you didn't empty the trash then your music might still be there. The Recycle Bin can only hold a certain amount of files though.

  • Create new iTunes on same computer

I have an iPod and an iPad. I don't want the same songs from the iPod to be on the iPad. How do I create a new iTunes account on the same computer for my iPad?

You really dont need to create a new iTunes account at all. You simply need to select the muisc for each device that you want to sync. You can change your sync options as often as you like as explained here.
    iOS: Syncing with iTunes
You can select the Sync Only Checked Songs and Videos in the Summary Tab of iTunes.
This screen shot shows you how you can select the albums or playlists that you want to sync to your iDevices,

  • Syncing iPod to establish a new iTunes library - former computer crashed

Hi. I had my itunes library on a computer and had not backed it up. Most of my music was on my ipod touch. The computer crashed and I cannot access anything. So I have put itunes on our HP netbook. Is there a whay to copy the music from my ipod to the new itunes library. I keep getting a message that says "an ipod canbe synced with only one itunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this ipod with the contents of this itunes library. Erase and synce or cancel" My original itunes library is gone because of hte computer crash and I don't want to lose what I have on my ipod by erasing and syncing. Is there anyway to get the music off and into the new library?
    THanks for your help.

Your iPad is married to its now deceased old computer. This is the reason for the necessity of a backup for your computer, which your iPad is not.
Your iTunes Store and App Store purchases will not be lost. Just don't "erase and sync" when you sync your iPad to your new Mac:
If you want to move the iTunes Store purchases on your device to the new computer, choose "Transfer Purchases." The new computer must be set up with your iTunes Store account and authorized to play your iTunes Store purchases in order to transfer your iTunes Store purchases.

  • HT203128 new version of iTunes freezes my computer!

Every time I open up the new version of iTunes, my computer freezes the entire time the app is open. How can I fix that?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • HT203175 The latest version of iTunes freezes my computer whenever I try to open it. Needless to say, this is infuriating. I have Windows XP, which should support the latest version. I am particularly exasperated, because iTunes compelled me to download.

iTunes compelled me to download the latest version, before I could complete a transaction (which, needless to say, was botched). I have Windows XP, and I cannot open iTunes now without freezing or crashing my computer. This is utterly frustrating, since I can't even play any holiday music, much less update my iPod.
Can I uninstall, and reinstall the older version? I do not need all the bells and whistles, and I detest the new format (even if it were to run on my computer)?
I'd love to be able to access my Xmas playlist someday.

What didn't work?  Removing everything or just the older version of Bonjour?  Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided above to walk you through the process?
Perhaps it would be a better idea to post this in the iTunes forums, since it is an issue with iTunes and your iPod Shuffle.

  • Itunes freezes the computer on windows 7 64bit pro

    Hello,
no matter what i do, itunes always makes my computer freeze. it happens by itself from time to times but after connecting my iphone it happens within 5 mins.
i tried reinstalling itunes, closing AVG, even format my computer and start with a brand new install of windows.
in the event viewer i get this msg: "WSARecvMsg failed (10022)" from the Bonjour service.
    how do i solve it?
    thanx in advance

    Hi rapmyice!
While you mentioned that you have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, there is a specific order of steps that need to be taken when uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and related components. Information on this process can be found here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
If you are still having issues after completely and thoroughly uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all related components, you may need to re-create your library by following the steps in the link below:
