New iTunes ID no longer allows sync with old ID
I have an iTunes account that I have purchased a lot of media (music, movies, audio books, apps...).
I had to change my iTunes ID several months ago and now whenever I try to sync it tells me that I'm no longer authorized for this media and it puts up a dialog with my old iTunes ID. I change it to my current ID and put in my password and it says that this computer is already authorized (well duh!!!) and then all is fine for this sync! The next time I try to sync I have to do it all over again! I have several thousand dollars of media and this is a real PITA. Is there some way to tell iTunes that all my media purchased under my old ID should be valid with my new ID?

Actually...no. You need to have the machine authorized for both accounts. Purchases retain the ID information under which they were purchased. (Although, if you're entering this info when it is requested, I'm not sure why it keeps asking for it again.)

I loaded the new iTunes (11.0.0.163) on my computer and also just purchased a new iPhone 5. Prior to loading the NEW iTunes, I was able to sync with my new iPhone 5. After I loaded the new iTunes, I now get an error message: 0xE8000084. What's up?
Also, it says the iPhone 5 is not registered to my Apple ID.See if the troubleshooting for 0xE error codes on this page helps : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3221

When I connect my iPod Touch to a new laptop (Macbook Air) the "Info" tab won't appear and therefore I cannot sync it with my new iTunes. How can I sync this iPod with the iTunes on my new laptop?
There is no Info tab in Mavericks
if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.

My Ipod was originally set up as a sub-account of a firends. After that, I got an Iphone and set up my own Apple account. I just got a new Ipod, and now can't sync my old Itunes to it. Can anyone help me? I'm even OK with deleting the old Itunes account, and staring over. I just really want to get the new Ipod under my own account, and be able to use it...
There is no such thing as a "sub-account." Also, you probably mean iTunes library, when you say "account." Your "account" in iTunes is your Apple ID, which is what you use to sign in to the iTunes Store to make purchases. iPods are associated with an iTunes library, not with an Apple ID (iTunes Store account). You'll need to clarify...
So, this is what I think you are saying. You previously shared an iTunes library on a computer with your friend. Your old iPod was synced to that iTunes library.
You got an iPhone, and at that time, you set up your own iTunes library. Is that on a different computer? How does the iPhone affect your question about the iPod?

When i tried to sync my new iPhone to Itunes, I accidentally clicked on sync with my ipod, instead of creating a new one. So now my iphone is the replica of my ipod, deleting my contacts and pictures etc. Is there a way to get it restored?
Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists. If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

I want to get my kids an iPod touch... can I install a second version of iTunes on my computer to sync with the new iPod?
There's a few ways of managing multiple devices on a single computer (and keeping seperate content on each). The following document is worth checking through:

My computer crashed and cannot be recovered. I had my Itunes on that computer that synced with my ipad. How do I get my music off of my ipad to my new computer?
You should have a backup but if not you will need to transfer the contents before you sync or it will be erased.
Transfer music purchased from iTunes

For other music you will require a 3rd party program

Itunes no longer is syncing with my iphone 3g?
Itunes no longer is syncing with my iphone 3g on my desktop computer?
I have the same problem. I am using an iPhone 3g with Windows 7 and ITunes 10
This is what happen to me:
opened itunes
plugged in the phone to the computer
iTunes asked if I would like to update my phone to 4.3.3
I clicked ok
iTunes downloaded update
iTunes backed up my phone.
iTunes starts the update but returns an error saying it ecountered a problem and failed to sync.
Now my phone is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen and when I plug it in iTunes does not see it.
I followed all of the instruction in the following support articles but they did not produce any change in behavior.

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

previously i set up iphone 5 same user (account) with my brother.. Now i want to set up as my own User... but try to Erase all content n settings and plug in itunes to set up as a new iphone but it's keep sync with my brother phone ... help please ?
I recommend that you
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases. -
just brought a new iphone its instructing me to sync with itunes, i connect it to my computer computer reacts but nothing happens on the phone or itunes, help before I break my laptop and phone, rage!
First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer (11.x). If you connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer (NOT to a USB hub) and it still doesn't appear in iTunes you need to troubleshoot iTunes.
If you have a Mac see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591
For Windows see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 -
Help. I just got a new iPad 2 and set up sync with iCloud and no password. Now asking for a password and I never set one up. What password does it want: iTunes, iPhone (no real password there either). Tried as many passwords as I could think with the iPad locking me out since I don't have the password! Would like to use the iPad but can't get on to try it.
Thanks.
DesparateSo I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.
Yes... sorry.
In the future, if need be, you can re download your purchases for free > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Good rule of thumb is to back up your purchases regardless > Mac App Store: Backing up your app purchases -

due to the virus attack i had to format my windows laptop...now when i installed new itunes software i had to sync my ipod touch again but it says that if i do it then the data present on my ipod touch will be erased as it is syncd to some older library... how should i protect my ipod touch data?
With all you media (apps, music) in the iTunes library connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup. Do that by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore the iPod from that backup.
Note the the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

What features, capabilities, etc. deleted by Apple in iTunes 11?
