New Itunes install lost all my addresses in my address book
I installed the new Itunes update and now i have lost all of my addresses in my outlook address book and none of my calendars are syncing. Help!!
There are three "Library" folders on your Mac. One in System, One in the root (Macintosh HD), and one in each user folder. You need the one in your user home. You can get there by holding down the option key and selecting Library from the Go menu in Finder. Or, you can select Go To Folder from the Go menu and type ~/Library in the dialog box that pops up (you can do this in Time Machine, also).
Even though those are vCards inside, Contacts doesn't see them as vCards since they don't have a .vcf file extension. However, there's a better way.
If you've found the files, you've also found the AddressBook folder.
Replace the AddressBook folder that is in your username/Library/Application Support/ folder with the one in your Backup. Start Contacts.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone/ipad: File>Transfer Purchases -

I managed to get it back using the restore. This means the only content I have for Address Book and iCal sits on my iPhone!
Put one unique entry in both iCal & Address Book on your Mac. These entries can be fake, that doesn't matter, just make sure Address Book & iCal are not empty. Then when you select to sync contacts & calendars on the Info pane in iTunes, you'll get a merge or replace prompt. Select merge.

Lost all my Address Book Contacts and now can't locate Backup
Strange, well today- now all my contacts dissappear for no reason...
only shows 3 newest one.... What happen to the other 200 names that I had.
I know I use Backup3 to my iDisk everyday, so I try to restore from a few days back and now it says "Can't Locate backup", gives me 3 choices to do "Locate",
"Skip this Part" or Stop Restore. Nothing works for me.
I even change the AddressBook.data.beforesave to AddressBook.data, now it shows most of the contacts, but still lost about 20 names...

My laptop died so I've installed itunes onto another PC and my music is all on an external hardive which is connected to the new PC. How can I sync my ipod with the new itunes and get all the music onto itunes?
You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. When I updated itunes I lost all of my music, I was able to retrieve it from a previous itunes library, but now some artists have all of their songs listed under one "unknown album." Is there a way to separate these songs back into the correct albums? Also, is there a way to make songs that have a featured guest just show up with the rest of the album instead of making a whole new spot for it? Thanks!

As I downloaded new software upgrade in my iPod nano 7 th gen and also new iTunes upgrade then all data on my iPod got erased and now when I am trying to sync it again then sync button is disabled on the windows screen . Kindly help

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod. -
bought games and music on my ipod touch and then bought a new mac, but i updated my ipod on the new mac and lost all of my games and music and they arent on my computer or my ipod touch:( The apps i bought are not on my old computer either!! please help!!! I don't want to buy them all again!!

Transferring albumn artwork/song ratings etc to new itunes install
I have windows XP installed on one HD and Vista installed on another HD on the same PC. I have spent a lot of time getting the album artwork, rating the songs etc on the XP iTunes install. I recently upgraded my ram and can now use Vista w/o Lag and I want to find a way to transfer all the settings to my new iTunes install on Vista.
All the music is stored locally on a 3rd HD on my pc so I don't need help transferring my library (I saw a LOT of posts about that topic, so I'm just being clear that I don't need help with that).
Also my iPhone is synched with the iTunes/XP and I don't want it to erase everything off the phone if I synch it with the Vista/iTunes.. I have authorized the new iTunes.. just wondering if that is good enough or if there's anything else I need to do to ensure I can synch to both versions of iTunes w/o a problem.You need to put your iPod in automatic sync mode and they will transfer automatically.
You can't do it if you are in manual update mode. -

How to get existing library imported to new itunes install, old library was not backed up or exported. This occured due to Win 7 user profile was corrupt.
